  1. and I have a few questions I haven't seen covered exactly... What should I have around for the post op period as far as liquid food is concerned? What is everyone's favorite Protein shake? What is the Protein/carb/fat profile of a good shake? What meds should I expect to be on? I've seen Nexium/Prilosec, Gas-x, something for the gall bladder? Anything else? What is the best way to maximize the weight lost after the surgery? I'd like to loose about 150lbs if possible. And if it makes a difference I am thinking I am going to have my sleeve done by Dr. Aceves, though I haven't contacted them yet. Thanks so much!

    Your WLS choice?

I haven't had surgery yet, but I am planning on the VSG because it is straightforward and it makes sense to me. I can control what I eat, I just can't stand the starving all the time. And after reading all the possible issues with the band, it's out for me.

So, I have read every thread...

Yup, every one! I feel like I am totally ready to be free of the weight and having a surgery would be the tool I need to get me there. I previously lost 60 lbs before I hit a major stall, but I couldn't keep it up because I was starving all the time. What I did learn from that was that I was capable of controlling my eating, I can follow an eating plan to the letter, and I worked out quite a few of my "eating demons", stress, boardem, etc. So if I could just get rid of the starving all the time problem I now know I can loose the weight, and I think the sleeve is the way to go. And through all my research I really think Dr. A is the one. My husband wants to look into both the VSG and Dr. A before I sign up, but he understands I want to do this. I am a compulsive researcher, but once I come to a decision, I want it done! So now to get DH on board and signed up!

Instead of hand weights, you could try a back pack, like you were going hikeing. That would increase your workout also.

    Titanium Staples? and brief intro

Super. About 5 years ago my brother had a small repair made to his lung for a congenital defect that eventually made this little hole, and he had to specifically request titanium staples. (for those that don;t know, with titanium you can still have an MRI) So I wanted to know if I needed to stress about that in my questions. Fun fact about myself- my wedding band is titanium (so is hubby's) WASa, I would be grateful if you knew where to look about United Healthcare and the VSG. You guys are so helpful! Thanks for the welcome.
