  1. I didn't use my mixer this time. I hand mixed it with a spatula. It turned out really nice. DS and DH ate it warm with sf whipped topping. Not bad for them to not know that it was at least somewhat healthier for them without all of the eggs and oil. Thanks for posting about your cake and reminding me that I wanted to try that!

Glad to hear that it worked out and I just love it when we make things that are healthy for our families and they don't even know it! :) I never used an electric better, did it by hand. Never thought of it, that it could make a difference.

I keep coming up w/different ways to have sandwiches w/out bread and they love it too.

Georgia girl- good to hear you're feeling better!

Okay people--we need to stop feeling bad for what we've eaten. We need to acknowledge it, deal with it and then get over it.

We are people too and can eat the same thing as everyone else, just not as much.

I have people asking me "what can you eat" when we go out for lunch. I say "anything, where do you want to go?"

Don't beat yourself up for eating something that you love and or have missed. We all do this but not often and it shows!

I'm proud of all of us for doing a great job! Keep it up!

  2. Question: you use a box cake mix and diet soda only (and the carob chocolate chips)? No eggs or oil? How much diet soda?

This is all that I used, nothing else that the box asked for and my cakes came out moist, full size and delicious.

I used a full can of soda too. I also heard that you can do this to box brownies too. (haven't tried that one yet)

Georgia girl: I hope you're feeling better.

Slim: I too have been on and off my game. I start out good and then....But it's not that bad and we are way ahead of the game because we know how to get back on track.

Please keep us posted on how your cakes, cupcakes or muffins turn out!

    Sat:

11:30 B/2oz cooked sausage, egg, amer. chz (I was only able to eat half)

    1:30 s/1oz Honey Nut Cheerios

3:00 L/The rest of my Breakfast (only half of that cause I dropped it as I took it out of the microwave 17.gif), 1c cantaloupe, Ralph's Sweet & Salty 170 cal, 3 chips w/salsa

5:30 s/Mor Store-1 choc chip cookie, small bag of buttered popcorn, 8oz soda (regular)

7:00 D/2 Teriyaki chkn 140 cal ea. (Tyson)

    Liquids:

    Water-45 oz

    2% Milk-8 oz

    Soda (Regular)-8 oz

  3. 10:15 B/1c Cantaloupe (60 cal), 100 cal pre packaged snack

1:15 L/Teriyaki chkn, 4 carrot slices, 1 celery cut up & cream cheese and pb added (1t of ea.)

2:15 s/100 cal Little Debbie chocolate cake

8:30 D/flr tortilla, 6 slice deli ham, chipotle BBQ Sauce (2 T), 1T Blue Cheese, 15 corn tortilla chips w/1oz cheddar cheese, 100 cal Little Debbie chocolate cake

    Water: 60oz 2% Milk: 32oz

I had been craving chocolate and the Little Debbies did the trick.

I need to keep it to one a day. Or I need to make my own.

I found a recipe on another site for soda cake. I made cupcakes, added 3 carob chocolate chips to them and it was wonderful, everyone loved them.

So if I make a box cake & add only a diet soda, then there is only the calories left from the mix itself and if I add 3 carob chocolate chips (estimated 1 cal per chip) that would be added to the calorie count too. With the one box I have here (Duncan Hines Moist Deluxe Devil's food cupcake) that would make my cupcakes 83 in total calories.

So yes I can make this myself  Oh I'm in seventh heaven now!!

I should be able to freeze these (freeze for a day and then vacum seal the next and then back to the freezer)

  4. Me too! There is soooo much going on over the weekends that revolve around food. I'm going to a birthday party in a bit, and there will be junk food galore, lol. I have done well today so far, just hope I can keep it up through tonight.

I did okay!! I stayed the same--no gain or loss?!

Today was a blur - Got up early to run errands, all was ok until my youngest DS had an accident on his scooter. He fell and hurt his left hand. Ended up at Urgent Care for 3.5 hours though. He's ok, just sore.

So just when I thought I’d be on top of my meals and journaling, this happened.

Did good though, didn’t eat junk food all day but didn’t eat like I usual do for the day, every 1-2 hours or drink like I usually do.

    Ya; I was hungry!

    Today:

    8am B/Oatmeal

    11pm s/small bag of gummies

2pm L/Tuna salad on flour tortilla w/lettuce, 2 sl American Chz, 7 Doritos chips

    3:30p s/Nature Vlly Oats & Honey 1 of a two pack

8pm D/Tuna Salad sandwich on white, 7 Doritos chips

    Water: 48 oz

georgia girl-how did you do at the party?

My mom said maybe I should have Protein Shakes during the weekend to maintain. I'll try it tomorrow.

  5. I can't believe I ate the all of this! but I did :smile2:

Today I was an empty pit. I kept feeding it, but "it" was never full!

8:30a/B-Mini cinn. bagel w/crm chz, 6 deli ham slices

    10am/s Nature Vlly bar pack

12pm/s Nature Vlly bar 2 pack

2:pm/L Pick Up Sticks-Kids meal: Hs Spc Chkn w/white rice

8:pm/D Hmtwn buffet: 5 fried shrimp, 4 fried clams, baked fish, roast, mashed potatoes, Imm. crab w/mayo, tarter & cocktail sauce, 5 chips w/nacho chz, nillia wafer pudding (mind you; these were all one to three bite size portions, with leftovers still on plate when done)

Water: 50.7 oz Soda: 8oz(Regular-not diet) Milk: 16oz (for the heart burn that started after dinner)

I was down a pound too, I bet tomorrow I won't be

Weekends are becoming my enemy

Exercise: Walked the mall w/my son for school clothes--3 hours

  6. Saturday~~

Up early to go on walk 5 mile walk w/friends.

    7:45a s/pear

10:00 B/Nature Vlly Peanut Butter bar (ya I know it's not much but it's all I had w/me at the end of my walk)

2:00 L/Souplantation: Chkn, hard boiled egg w/celery, sweet pickle, grn oinion, ranch dressing (made it while there), radishes, 1 bite Mac & Chz, 2 spoonfulls of chili w/chdr chz & sour cream. (eat till I was satisfied)

7:15 s/100 cal Chex strawberry yogurt snack

    8:30 D/Teriyaki chkn w/rice

    one diet soda

    water: 3 16oz

  7. 11:00am B/Egg, white toast, can't believe it's butter spray

    11:30am s/popcorn (micro w/butter)

    2:45 pm L/leftovers-rice & teriyaki chkn

5:00 pm s/one of two in the Nature Valley package

8:30pm D/1/4 hamburger w/tomato, pickles, lettuce, ketchup -one lrg chkn nugget, french fries, chips & salsa. (went to a restaurant w/kids and had parts of their meals-MUST NEVER BE AROUND FRENCH FRIES, THIER EVIL, THEY CALL MY NAME:eek:)

    Two cans of diet soda

3 bottles of 16oz Water w/flavor packets added

Tomorrow will be harder. I always seem to lose track on the weekends.

I'm finding that if I'm not on top of my "grab and go" foods/drinks, I reach for what's there and it's usually not the right stuff.

Need to spend time this weekend and get ready for next week. :)

  8. thank you everyone, to fill everyone in I got rid of the trainer. Not because she was complaining about how I ate, but because she told me I was fat and lazy. If I'm fat and lazy now my god what was I before. She was also like if you would have meet my before you done surgery you would have never needed to do that to yourself. I have been going at it on my own and the weight thing has stalled out for now. Thanks again to everyone.

OMG-what a jerk'ett! :) I would go one step further and if she has a boss--tell them or if she is doing this as a personal business, go to BBB (better business bureau). I know they need to be tough but being rude....

  9. Hello All,

    How are things?

I have a non weight triumph for today!! :)

Took the kids to the beach and for the first time I wasn’t terrified to walk around w/out my shorts. :)

I took them off after getting there and never put them back on. I even got sunburned on my legs. :wink2:

I was in the Water so much, it was great. I was out playing with the kids instead of just sitting there watching them.

Do we have a meeting place yet?

    Have a great day!

Oh ya; have my doctors appointment tomorrow. I'll post later w/what they have to say.

  10. It was great to meet everyone!

After leaving I called my doc and have an appt. sent for 16th.

I was told that my last visit was in Nov. of 2007.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I feel renewed to have people to talk to not only one line but in person.

    Can't wait to meet again!

Thank you all for being there!:smile2:

  11. Hi Guys,

So sorry I won't be able to meet with you guys next week!!

I do have news to share though!! I just got word today that insurance is approved and I just need to schedule the date!! I am having the lapband "installed" by Dr. Bhoyrul. So far I really like him and his staff.

Any suggestions for my pre-op phase as I get closer to my date?

    Thanks,

Sorry to hear you can't make it but we'll have more for you to come to.

Have you picked a date yet? Where are you having it done?

As far as suggestions; YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DO THE PRE-OP DIET! Mine was for 2 weeks and it was hard. I lost more weight there then I have in the past 3 years. Fasting will do that to you :smile2:

  12. Great and welcome KartMan!!:P

Okay everyone, get your thinking caps on!

Where can we meet that's in the middle and not near food?!

I was looking on-line w/googleearth.com and found libraries to be our best bet.

There is one in the Mission Valley area near the stadium (next door to Ikea) if we'd like to start there?

They have an outdoor patio that we could use too?

  13. Thanks marivan for the update on the 5 day pouch test. It sounds like something we all should do every now and then.

I'm going to go back to the site and look again on how to do it and give it a try.

I wish I could afford a trainer because as I watch our "Bigest Loser" show I can see how much they do help.

I started out back in 2006 w/water areobics because working-out on land was just not for me. It hurt to much and the Water was great and still is.

Just w/in this year I've started going to a Zumba class and I love it. It's a full hour of dancing and I see my body changing. The one thing I like is how my stomach is getting tighter and this happened w/out doing a single floor crunch (which I can't do because of lower back issues).

I'm 46 so I know about the yoyo diets. Been dieting since I was 16. But as I look back at my picutres as a child, I see a healther kid not a fat, over weight kid as I was told (teasted) by others.

If I could, I would tell all expected moms not to have a c-section if at all possible. "It will screw you up in the long run". I loved being pregnant, it was like a licence to eat--for two! You could look fat, eat more, gain weight and it was for a good reason--You're having a baby!

Each pregnancy of mine (3) I gained at least 40 pounds. I lost half afterwords but w/3, it added up in the end and w/a c-section (twice) I now have lower tummy muscle issues (like they don't exist).

I would like to lose 3 pounds a month and get back on the right track of eatting.

I need to show my kids (12,11 & twins at 7) that they don't need all that junk cause so and so has some at school. There are other alternatives that we as a family can have and enjoy.

  14. Hello All,

I feel your pain. I've been banded since 7/06 and have only lost 20 pounds. I started at 224, a year out got to 184 but now I'm back up to 205.

Haven't had a fill in 2 yrs and haven't been to the doc's since last fill either.

I'm trying to kick start the program again and get back on track too.

marivan; on another post (were I found you first), you talked about a website about the 5 day pouch test. How did that turn out for you?

Did you purchase it or just go w/what the site had on hand?

I would like to hear how the trainer works out for you.

meena; marivan is right, keep track of what you eat. I'm trying to get back into that habit myself and it's hard. I'm not putting down calories yet, just logging the food and time I eat it. Oh ya and keeping track of my liquid intake too.

BioTeacher; I've been working out 3-5 days a week since April and havn't seen the scale move. I do Water arerobics and Zumba. I can feel and see my clothes fit better but that's it. I know that is a good but I would like to see the scale move too.

  15. alright well lets do this!!

How often should we meet? once a month, twice a month? I think once a week might be too much-thoughts?

also what day? my weekends are generally full, but the mornings I can do...

Great to see that you're still out there! :tongue2:

Twice a month would be great to start with.

    Wednesday's, any time from 8-11am--you?

    :cursing:

What part of town are you in?

  16. I hope that some one comes along and reads this.

I need someone to talk to. I need support.

It's been 3 years and I've only lost 20 pounds. The good thing is that I haven't gained any of it back.

I'll keep checking back. Let's start talking again.

  17. Hi guys,

I just wanted to say that I reached my first goal...to be under 200! It feels so good to see a number on the scale that starts with a one. This is the first day in about 3 years!

    Olive

WOW you are doing so good! Keep it up!!

One day I'll get to say that too, I can't wait!

  18. Good Day Everyone,
