    scared

Hi Blazed, I was very scared and not sure if this is what I should be doing right up until I was on the operating table!! lol At one point in the pre op room I almost got up and went home. Thankfully...I expressed my anxiety and the nurse taking care of me just stood next to me and held my hand. She started talking about her kids, my kids her trip to Hawaii etc. The next thing I know I was waking up in recovery. I was scared, but it has been the best thing I ever did and would do it again in a heartbeat! Being scared is normal no matter what kind of surgery you are having. Hang in there!

    Introducing Myself

Hi and welcome! Congratulations on your weight loss so far, you are doing great! I think you will enjoy being on LBT. There are lots of great people with inspirational stories and amazing weight loss success! Good Luck !
  4. MsFab...listen to Grandma, you didn't ONLY lose 17 lbs...YOU LOST 17 LBS...! Congratulations! I know it's hard sometimes, but try to stay positive even 1 lbs off is an accomplishment, and it's one a lot of people don't understand unless they are right there with you. Keep up the great work.

    Daily Liquids Question

Thanks all for your input! RM....I think I had tea in my bottle too!! Hot or iced! I will still as much Water as I can but I do like that warm comfy feeling a hot cup of tea gives me.
  6. I know that caffeine drinks do not count towards your daily intake of liquids...but how about decaffinated? I finally found a decaf tea that is very good and with the cool weather coming I usually drink more hot liquids than cold.

AWSOME !! Congratulations and keep up the great work!

    Finally!

Congratulations!! Isn't it a great feeling!! I went to a party Sunday with people that didn't know I had surgery or was trying to lose weight and I got lots of compliments!~ Lovin' it! Keep up the great work
  9. Before surgery I only told my husband! My daughters were upset that I didn't let them know I was having surgery, but this was something I wanted to keep quiet. Since the surgery I have only told a few of my immediate family members. People tend not to undersatnd we can eat anything we want, just in very small portions. They also think just because we had surgery the weight will fall off and we don't have to work at it, which as you know is not the case. I don't need anyone's opinion as to why they "would never" have WLS, they can do it on their own......sure they can! lol
  10. Hi Urs....try not to get discouraged. We all fluctuate, it's frustrating but if you hang it there it will come off. Are you sticking to the size meals and Snacks your DR has recommended for you? I am on three 1/2 cup meals a day with two 2oz snacks. I average between 715 and 800 calories a day. I am supposed to "eat" my Protein instead of drinking it. I am only supposed to have a Protein Shake or Protein Bar when I am on the run. I try to limit my sodium so I don't retain Water. I was on a water pill for the last 5 years but was taken off it after my surgery. Keep up the great work! 28lbs off is far better then 28 lbs on!! I am sure one day soon you are going to wake up and see lots of lbs. gone!! (I keep hoping that for me too) lol.
  11. Hang in there Erin :-( Hopefully things will get better soon for you. I know it's hard to stay positive, but I hope the worst is over for you. Just think you will be happy again soon......and much thinner!! Hugs G'ma
  12. Way to go Erin !! Glad you are feeling better! I am sure other people notice your weight loss but don't want to say anything yet. Some people don't like to mention weight at all, it's a sensitive issue. Pretty soon they will notice and you will be shouting it from the roof top! Hugs, G'ma

    Hi, I'm Kelsey.

Hi Kelsey, Welcome!!....and congratulations.. you have lost 15 lbs!! Losing 15 lbs in a little over a month is great and beyond what we are all told to expect on our weight loss journey! Keep up the good work and remember don't get discouraged if your progress isn't what you are expecting....a lb. off is far better than a lb. on !! lol

I am new and newly banded

Congratulations on being banded and your progress so far! Your band will tell you what it doesn't like as you go along. So far the only thing I can't eat in any way , shape or form is broccoli! My band hates broccoli, but everything else has been fine as long as I chew it really well. When you think you have chewed enough....chew it a little more!! lol I avoid anything greasy or fried since that's what got me in the position in the first place. Good Luck!!

    Protien Shakes??

How often does everyone have a protein shake? My Nut said she wants me to eat my protein instead of drinking it, so I haven't been having the shakes regularly. Most days I get the minimum protein of 65 gr in but I am really afraid of hair loss. I have lost enought from medication I am on.

    Anyone have band SLIPPAGE?

    What actually causes a slippage?
  17. I was banded in June. I had one fill 3cc in a 10cc band. I was fine until last week. I don't think I am actually hungry but I am looking for a snack quicker then I was before. I am hoping my next fill takes that away. A little stressed that last 2 weeks so maybe that has something to do with wanting junk food!! (which thank God I have been able to fight the urge) lol.....but I am starting to weaken

    Hello All! Newbie!

Congratulations on your decision to be banded!! It's the best thing I ever did. I can now after 9 weeks.....SEE MY TOES...ta-da!! Haven't seen 'em when I am vertical for 'bout 25 years! Good luck and welcome, Hugs, G'ma
  19. Gaining weight within the first 6 to 8 weeks after surgery is not uncommon. The first 6 weeks or so are for healing so not loosing during them is totaly understandable. Your body has been pumped with gas, fluids and all kinds of drugs. Once that clears out and the swelling goes down you will start on the losing path. Try to hang in there. Are you drinking all the water/fluids your Dr. wants you to? I seem to loose more when I drink the 64 oz they want me to have each day.
  20. Hi gatorgirl! Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! We were all nervous as our surgery date approached. I was even laying on the operating table as they hooked me up think OMG what am I doing. I have to tell you...it was the best thing I ever did. I had my insurance approval in 1 day and didn't have to go through the 6 months of waiting. I had my surgery pretty fast too. Good luck to you, hopefully you will have an easy ride from here on out. Please make sure you follow your Drs. aftercare plan and diet. It is really important and they know what's best for you! Hugs, G'ma
  21. Hey Melliecat Dr. Ewing was my surgeon too! Glad to see someone on here so close to home. He was wonderful and I am very happy with the whole process so far. I go for my second fill on the 14th. G'ma

    I am a newbie!

Hi Wisteria! Welcome to our family!! I was banded about 9 weeks ago and it feels great. Before surgery I couldn't even walk a block without gasping for air! This past weekend I was able to walk 3 miles without even breathing heavy!! Good luck! G'ma

    A little down

I hope your brother comes around once he sees that the surgery is a lot safe now then in years past and that he can be a big part of your success. He will quickly learn that losing weight even with the band is no walk in the park! You will work hard at it, probably harder than any "diet" or weight loss program you have been on. Good luck to you and congratulations on making the decision to take control of your weight! I am sure glad I did. Who knows maybe seeing you accomplish your weight loss goals will persuade your brother to come over to this side too! G'ma
  24. Grandma26

    Just Banded!

Congratulations Rebecca!! Don't forget to drink all your liquids every day even if you don't feel thirsty or hungry!!

How do You do Eating Out?

Chinese is hard for me since my NUT doesn't want me to eat rice or any kind of pasta or noodle unless it is very overcooked, and only as a special treat. I ordered the steamed chicken and vegetables with a brown sauce no rice. It was very tasty and fairly healthy since there was no fat added during cooking
