  1. I've lost right at 100 lbs!! And I feel awesome!!! Got about 40 to goal! My current weight below is incorrect, I'm currently 185.

Update for me........My weigh in today is 150!!! A total loss of 121 lbs!. I started in a womans size 24 and now wear a size 8 !! I haven't felt this good about myself since high school!!!

  2. Your threads are very profound. I appreciate your candid honesty, truly I do. Since joining this site in June 2009 I have lost 70 lbs and gone down from a womens size 24 to a misses size 16. While I feel great I still have another 40 or so pounds to reach goal. But the attention has already started and I can feel myself getting scared. It's like my weight is my hiding place and as it strips away I'm feeling very exposed. Emotionally I'm starting to "trip" if you will. I'm glad to know that this can be normal for some people. Thank you for your inspirations. And I'm sorry for your emotional anguish, I'll keep you in my thoughts. ~Tracy

  3. I am glad to hear that everything went well for you!! I am still waiting for insurance approval to schedule surgery to have it repaired. But in the meantime I am proceeding ahead with my healthy food choices and exercise....keeping my chin up!! I have a greater goal!! Best wishes! Thanks to all for your support!

  4. Thank you for your reply. And I'm sorry to hear about your complications. I know your right, complications are inevitable at some point. Can I ask, how was the experience of the repair? My doc said that they just re-open the incision near the port, flip the port and re-secure it. But I guess my apprehension comes from the fact that to me it's surgery again! How was the recovery? Did you have to take time off of work? I mean longer than just the day for the procedure..... And do they have to fix the leaky port the same way? I guess I know the answers to these questions....it's just nice to hear feedback from someone who has been there.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

  5. So i went to the Dr. today for what would have been my second fill. But....I found out that my port has flipped . So needless to say, I left without a fill. Now I have been fully educated and I new ths was possible complication but as anyone would I had hoped it wouldn't happen to me. And I've been on such a roll and so focused to make this a success that it has kinda put me in a down mood. I am waiting for pre-approval to go back in and re-secure my port. :) And it's back to surgery....at least it is minor. I'm trying to count my blessings, I know it could be worse. In the meantime, I'm going to stay focused, steer the course and face what I have to face!! I'm still bound and determined to make his journey a success!! I just had to get that out there!! Best wishes to all you wonderful people!!

  6. Hi Everyone! My name it Tracy. I was banded in June. I too have been clean and sober for 4 1/2 years! I am loving life and loving my band. I was also afraid of the pain meds so I didn't even take them, I just used Tylenol. All is good!! Congrats to all on their sober time!

  7. I think we have all experienced this in the beginning....I was banded June 4th 2009 and the first few days I too kept thinking "What did I do??!!" I was on this site every waking moment of my day and this is what pulled me through. I found tips, support, suggestions and a knowing that I wasn't alone. Today I'm just over two months banded and have had one fill, have lost 28 lbs and I am now thinking "This is gonna work for me! I'm glad I did it!!"

So in closing I just want to say, hang in there. You've rec'd alot of good advice and its all true....this time to shall pass and soon enough you will be on the road that you expected to result from the band. Just keep coming back....this site is full of awesome support!!

Right now, take care of yourself!

    P.S. I need to update my ticker....it off by 6.5 lbs......Hee Hee!

  8. I had my surgery on 6/9/09

    I survived the liquid diet.

I have slowly introduced soft solids back in and I eat about 1/2C of Protein, 1/2C starch, 1/2C fruit/veggie.

My first fill is scheduled for 7/14/09 (5 wks post surgery)

    I FEEL ZERO RESTRICTION.

    Is this normal?

I can even eat and drink at the same time.;)

It's like nothing is there - like I never had the surgery.

I have lost 19 pounds. I was down 21 but last Tuesday's weigh in showed me up 2 pounds!! I am really worried that I am going to undo all I have done! YIKES

Have any of you experienced this?

    What helped?

I'm so glad you posted this thread....I was beginning to get a little down about the whole process! I'm going through the same exact thing!!! I was banded 06/04/09 and my first fill is 07/13/09. I too have been very conscious about everything that goes into my mouth. I really hope with my first fill I feel some restriction.....we'll see.......

Good luck everyone and hang in there....Like Cathy from Conyers said, It's just the beginning of our journey!

    Thanks everyone!

  9. I have been investigating, contemplating and researching the lap band for a little over 2 years now. I have been mulling around this forum and taking in the inspiration of the success's and taking serious thought to the struggles....I am 42, I have pretty much struggled with my weight all of my life. I topped out at 340lbs  after my 3rd son at age 29, I went on the Atkins diet and lost 110 lbs in 9 months and kept it there for 6 years and then I lost my husband of 17 years in a car accident in 2003 and dropped another 75lbs:frown:, in an unhealthy way tho. A few years later I began to move on with my life and started a new relationship and had baby boy #4 and packed on about 80lbs. Over the last two years I've managed to climb to as high as 280lbs. Nothing seemed to work for me anymore, even Atkins, I felt hopless!!:crying: In April 2009, I thought that is as close to 300lbs as I ever want to be again!! I had my consultation, seminar and psych eval on April 29,2009. Surgery June 4, 2009. I am 4 days post op and feeling pretty good!! I have hope back that I had lost:thumbup:, I know this journey is going to require alot of disipline and willpower and structure but I am ready!! I am here, I have begun!! Thank you to everyone that has shared your stories, the success, the struggles, the recipes, even pics of your families! Because thats what its all about! We're in it together!! And all of the support helps, alot! This site is now my new "myspace"......lol!! Good luck everyone!:)

  10. Hi Everyone!! I laughed when I started reading this thred and it seems quite a few crave a hamburger, why is that?? I was banded 3 days ago (June 4) and I have this overwhelming craving for, yep you guessed it, a HAMBURGER!!! LoL!! So bad that my son had left hamburger Buns on the counter and I had to hide them! That so far has been the only food that I have seen that has really challenged me. The funniest part is that I'm not craving the bun, just the hamburger! I'm doing ok otherwise, still in liquid diet until tomorrow, then start the mushy stage, I'm looking forward to some creamy soup! Good luck to everyone, thank you for all of your posts!!
