I live in Leavenworth KS... (KC METRO) what is my first step... whos the best local doctor? Where do I find the nearest seminar? How much do I have to pay (cash payer)? How much are fills locally? How long will I need to be off work post op? How do I tell my better half that I am thinking of having the lap band? HELP:help:

August 23rd Update! I look back on the all the intro pages.. and I remember............ I WAS THAT PERSON Now at 4 months post op, I am pretty comfortable... I do have restriction, but it has seemed like it loosened up in the last couple days. My next appointment is Monday.. I haven't yet decided if I'm going to ask for a fill. I'm down 45 lbs and am in my old size 16's again! Just a gut sucker undie away from my old Size 14 Levis.... which I'm trying to at least button by Labor Day. People at work are really noticing... but they say.... Hey Trace I see your losing weight again......... (I've went up and down the scale so MANY times before.. I just laugh and say... I'm TRYING or I'm gonna lose this weight ONE MORE TIME AND THATS IT!) Only one co-worker knows I had the band installed, as I just took 2 days off work... Surgery on Thursday back to my desk job on Monday. This summer I've went on many vacations and buffets for our family are a way of life........ I'm TRYING to learn how to deal with only eating a small amount of food from them.... I just look around at all the skinny people there and realize that they eat a bit and push the rest away... and this is what I'm trying to train myself to do.. THINK LIKE A SKINNY PERSON........... To all those reading this thread and just getting started.......... GOOD LUCK! I LOVE MY BAND!

I finally got the nerve up to call back the people from the WLSC... I had signed up for a seminar, taken an online survey, and asked for more info.. several times, but always chickened out when they called me..... Well yesterday I called them back and tomorrow I have a consult appointment, they faxed a boatload of paperwork to me to fill out and have ready. I will then have the road to insurance approval. Even if I don't have insurance approval, they offer a self pay price of 17,500 for EVERYTHING including the consult and a year of unlimited fills......... I am nervous about having foreign objects in my body, but I don't want to go the gastric bypass route. I have 2 close friends that went that route and both have done wonderful, but I know it is not for me...... They both say it is the best thing they ever did.... one is about 4 years post op and the other one is 2 years post op.. both started out well over 300lbs and both lost well over 100 lbs....... Anyway.. I just wanted to post an intro, and thank everyone for all the info.:girl_hug: I hope to be a bandster in 2007! Tracy 263.8/263.8/149;)

Your welcome! Before banding I spent lots of time looking at scars and watching the surgery via the web........ I KNOW I"m weird Now I watch a lot of TLC and DIS channel shows on plastic surgery

Thats horrible........ I'm full............. the glutton that I am had tuna and crackers for lunch.... I do not seem to have a problem with crackers......... hmmmmmmm maybe I WILL go ahead and get a fill on Monday. DF and I are talking about going to the courthouse and getting hitched in secret so that I can add him and the boys to my insurance now and then have the family ceremony in March... (since he is making a job change) What are everyones thoughts on keeping this a secret from the family?

New Years Eve is their BIG annual "party" night. They spend all night drinking and praying for all the sisters that have passed before them... it is an all night event........ as one sister told me... she planned to drink a little and pray a little and drink a little more. My bud that is director of housekeeping says that cleaning up after new years takes her gals ALL DAY! Don't get me wrong... there are some very GOOD sisters here... BUT there are a multitude of MEAN OLD KNUCKLECRACKERS... ones that will tell you with no hesitation that you are fat and that gluttony is a sin.

Oh.......... I have great benefits and a cushy job for my town... but man sometimes it is so HARD........ notice the shelves behind me in my 232 pic.. that wall is the wall we share. there is an adjoining door within that wall that I promptly put 2 TALL filing cabinets in front of to block off the door........... that is the weak spot in our wall and that is where she was standing...... she apparantly gave the other two gals voicemail lectures on "integrity in the workplace". THE STORIES I COULD TELL would totally blow your mind about nuns......... first and foremost they are HUMAN.... highly highly educated but no "street" skills or "real world" management skills............... I am still living down, being a non catholic, divorced, and unwed mother.............

I've had a morning already!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Spied on by a nun........ she was hiding in her office with her door shut and light off listening to to what was going on in my office...... two of my coworkers stopped by because my office was the only light "on" in the entire hallway.. one of them just found out she is going to be a grandma so, yes it was of a chatty nature...... she left me a not so nice direct message on my voicemail. Slamming the coworkers. I saved it. I also called her back to discuss the message and she couldn't believe that I had the balls enough to stand up for myself. Then I find out that she waited for our little coffee clutch to break up for 15 minutes......... in her dark office, with her door shut standing next to the wall listening.......... she is a 67 year old NUN...... HAPPY FREAKING THURSDAY!

I've been slacking on exercise.......... I WILL get up in the morning and go workout! Terry....... this ones for you babe!

GREAT POINT! I did load my FSA card with my OUT OF POCKET MAX! it has worked beatifully!

My doc says............. the ONLY thing you have to give up is white doughy bread........ that was it...... I am more low carb driven than he is or his staff.. but that is because EACH and eVERY time I've ever lost ANY weight its been eating Lower carbs.. I do agree with Jachut though... the good carbs and bad carbs, Glycemic Index definately make a difference.
