I will add too... with the bypass you lose weight quick........ my 2 best real life girl friends have both had the RNY... One OPEN (4 years post op) and one LAP (2 years post op) Both lost around 120 lbs in the first year.... One now has gained a significant amount of weight back because she NEVER suffered from Dumping and could eat anything without suffering, but because of this her pouch is stretched back out and she is to the point of depression where she will not disclose exactly how much she has gained back...... she is now wishing that she could get the band around her newly stretched out pouch......... my other friend just had a tummy tuck and a boob lift and is doing fine. Both have that "look" that bypass patients often get because of the lack of nutrients..... I will say that both my friends are glad they had it done. Even the one who has gained... she is still significantly down from her top weight, but it is now a struggle to lose since her pouch is stretched back out.

liquid tylenol and a heating pad have been highly touted here.

many have it done on an outpatient basis, meaning in by 7:00 a.m out by 3 p.m., my insurance company is making me stay over night.. it is actually called a 23 hour observation period. Pain is different for everyone, depends on your personal tolerance and the amount of gas pain if any that you may have... I've already stocked up on the liquid ADULT strength tylenol...

Bandster support for us Heathens/Pagans
TracyinKS replied to synicalchick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just stumbled on this thread, and think it is GREAT! Me, well...... mainly grew up in a Christian / Baptist church, married in a Nazarene church.... Divorced in a Courthouse LOL.. I do believe in God, and well.. although many people who go to church are not godly, and I've never been one to think that I HAVE to go to church and I don't, but I do pray.......and my son and I say prayers before bedtime each night... He is my miracle, and I do thank GOD for him everyday. I work in an ACTUAL convent, but I'm definately NOT Catholic.... and the number ONE thing I've learned is that NUNS are HUMAN.... with the same personality defects as the rest of us...... About 7 years ago, I was a bridesmaid in a friends wedding, and was totally suprised when a druid priest showed up in his robes and cane to marry them.... I had known him for years and knew that he was a Druid Priest, but I had NO idea what it meant......... About 10 years ago I became friends with a gal that followed wicca, she was very cool to explain a lot about what she and her family did as a family unit and in simple terms explained to me....that to her, everything was god, from the tree to the grass that grows under them.... and that I could relate with... so I always found it calming...... after my divorce we drifted apart because her husband and my ex worked together and that is the way of things........ but she will always be remembered as a soul that is at peace with her inner goddess. blessed be -

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Thank you Kat! Sheila: I could not stand it any longer and I went to Wally World on my lunch break.. I picked up a new shirt that is too tight if I button it, but looks good as a shell.. I opted for the 18/20 instead of the more comfy 22/24, so that as I lose weight it doesn't swallow me and should last the season..... also I spurged on two new pairs of sandals, and a new wireless el-cheapo bra that I can wear directly after surgery..... won't support the girls very good, but should be comfortable and offer enough support to keep from being obscene! Terri: You are right.. I just copied what Betty posted.. I'm sure that not all those people are still coming here to update... seems that most people get all skinny and then go MIA from here because .. GUESS WHAT their weight and food and gas pain are NOT at the forefront of their minds anymore! IMAGINE THAT! My doc said to expect 1-3 pounds a week loss... I am a firm believer in a bodies set points.. for instance every time I have lost a significant amount of weight and begin to lose it again... I ALWAY plateau at 224 lbs.. DON'T ASK ME WHY... but the general consensous is that I was at 224 for a long time and my body likes it so it gets there and digs its nastly little feet in. Also.. my LOW set point is about 172 lbs...... I've never been lower than that... (when I've been aware of my weight) I figure that even if I'm on the low end of the losing side... 50 lbs in a year would put me within reach of ONEderland.. and just to get back to the 100's again is a MAJOR milestone. Now dont get me wrong.... I want to lose 80 in the first year... but as I sit here and type this, I am wearing a short sleeved blouse that fit me fine this time last year and today it is a little too tight and would be WAY too tight if I buttoned it... so instead I'm wearing it as a shell........... I had a major clothing dilema this morning and I was so hot and sweaty from going through my closet trying on Spring blouses that I couldn't even put my make up on until I got to work and cooled off........ I AM SO FRICKEN SICK OF THIS FAT! I wish I was getting banded today! -
