  2. How many times we have to go through this? I had banded 2009 and since then i am in constant every 3 or 4 months go for fill or unfill? I am about to give up. I fill 1 cc i get stuck, remove it i can eat easily and keep on gaining weight. Is it normal? Anyone else goes through this up and down? Sometimes i feel shame going back for fill or unfill. Please advise me. I have gained 20lb back. And it is making me depress. Pls help if you can??

  3. I am very confused about fill, I was banded 2009 and I have 2to5 fill and infill within last 4 yrs, lost and gained, lost and gained. I had fill two weeks ago 3 cc in 3.5 cc . I feel restrict one day and another day no restriction at all. Is any one like this? One day feel not hungry the other day I can eat huge pls help.

  4. Thanks, liquid sometimes I hold sometimes not. I chew very good but still stuck just not sure how much should I un fill?

Have you looked at how you are eating? As we get closer and into the green zone, we have to really follow the rules of small bites, waiting in between bites and chewing each bite for about 30 seconds or 25x. I was feeling like I was too tight after this fill; however, I re-examined how I was eating and I wasn't doing what I should have. I have taken notice to take very tiny bites now, chew, chew, chew, wait and then another bite. It helped me realize it wasn't the band it was me causing the pb episodes. Just want to make sure you have considered that may the problem before going for an unfill. Now, if you are having difficulty getting liquids down then definitely you may be too tight. I know you said you are eating slow (and so was I) but it was the size of my bites that were doing me in.

    Good luck.

  8. It's too early, when I had my band it took me almost 3 to4 months several fill and unfilled. Weight goes up fast but comes down slow. I would check with Dr and see if you can get fill maybe .5 cc start small. I love bread and I usually toast it very well so it's crunchy and I chew it. It takes time lapband has his own brain and takes time to get a hang of it. For two years I had PBS finally two months ago I am ok with my fill I don't get hungry often and I eat solid food just be patien. I was banded May 2012 I lost 35lb and gained 10lb between up and down .

I had to go back to fill on Thursday and he filled .8 cc and I don't feel restriction . Does it take time to feel restriction? Today is Sunday and I can eat anything small portion any suggestion ? Should I go to have fill again or should I wait? It's frustrating this up and down and costing me too much please any advice will help

  11. Ok, I'm starting to get a little confused here. This last fill did me real good. I was very tight, almost too tight for my liking. I was definately in the green zone, maybe a Dark Green per some other posts I've read. So, I'm used to being very tight one day, and then pretty loose the next. I understand the concept of stress, Water, salt, TOM, etc. giving me added tightness. So, on 6/18 i had a scheduled fill. I canceled that because I had been pretty tight. For the past week or so, I've been pretty consistently loose so I scheduled another fill for 7/9, a small one though. Now tonight, I'm eating tuna, which NEVER bothers me, and its taken me real slow eating it. I mean real slow and I can feel myself tightening up again. Sooooo....is this normal for the green zone? Should I not go in for my fill? I really don't like to be too tight where I can't tolerate lean Proteins, such as white chicken, lean turkey, eggs, etc. When i'm that tight that its a pain to eat, i find myself turning to slider foods. I do much better with eating healthy in MY green zone, which is probably on the looser end of the green zone. So if you were going back and forth on tightness, would you get a fill or wait it out some more?

  12. Hi, live in Los Angeles County and I want to change doctors for my fills. I would like a doctor who uses the fluoroscopy technique. I would even be willing to travel to Tijuana, Mexico if I could get a referral from someone. I hear that pricing is much more affordable than my 350.00 quote that I'm getting from my present doctor. Thank goodness I get 6 for free. I've had three and I'm worried about where to go after I've used them all up. If you have any recommendations for anyone within the Southern California region I would appreciate the tips.

i do my fill in Tijuana, excellent Dr and uses fluroscopy let meknow if you want his Phone number. He will pick you up at boarder and drop ou too.

    Thanks

  13. Dr Khalil at ambulatory care in San Diego..I'm not sure if he just does fills for non patients but it's worth a try..he's a great doc

  14. My wife's doctor gave her a fill in the Dr's office & charged for the office visit plus $900.00 for the fill. Does this seem normal to anyone?

this is ripoff even without insurance, not so many band center and Dr's taking advantage.Try to find band center in your area, it's very easy procedure and should not cost that much.

  15. This may help you in understanding the restrictive mechanism of a Lap-Band.

The ALLERGAN protocol for Lap-Band fills calls for a six-week delay after surgery, prior to any fills. The purpose for the six-week delay is for the patient's stomach to heal from the surgery, as well as allowing time for the Lap-Band to "Seat" or "Nestle" into the fat pad between the stomach wall and the interior wall of the Lap-Band.

Prior to receiving an EFFECTIVE fill, it is VERY uncommon to have any restriction from a Lap-Band. Some patients will NOT lose weight, or may even GAIN weight until they have received an effective fill in their Lap-Band.

Normal weight loss with a properly restricted Lap-Band is between 1 and 2 pounds per week.

The normal cycle of fills, restriction and weight loss is as follows:

    1. The patient's Lap-Band constricts when the patient receives a fill. Swelling for a few days after receiving a fill is very common. Many doctors require a patient to go on a liquid diet for a day or two after receiving a fill. A fill may have a "Delayed Action" of up to 4 weeks. A "Delayed-Action" means that the fill may not become effective for up to 4 weeks after the fill. That is why the ALLERGAN protocol states that fills should not be performed on patients who will not have access to medical care for at least two weeks after a fill.

    2. The patient's stomach capacity is lessened as a result of the restriction caused by the Lap-Band.

    3. The patient loses weight because they cannot eat as much food.

    4. The residual fat-pad between the inside of the Lap-Band and the outside of the patient's stomach reduces in size because of the overall weight loss in the patient.

    5. The reduction of the residual fat-pad causes the Lap-Band to become loose again.

    6. At that point, the patient needs another fill, because the Lap-Band is loose, and the patient has a loss of restriction, which allows the patient to eat larger amounts of food.< /span>

    7. The patient receives another fill and the process starts all over again.

Most Lap-Band patients receive several fills to adjust the Lap-Band as their weight loss progresses, and there is less and less residual fat-pad between the inside of the Lap-Band and the exterior of the stomach wall. Once a patient has lost all of their residual fat-pad, fills become less common. As the Lap-Band patient progresses in their weight loss, the effect of very tiny fills (Less than .2ccs) becomes greater and greater.

It is not uncommon for a late-stage Lap-Band patient to experience a significant difference in restriction with as little as .05cc of fill.
