  1. I really hope my original doctor can transfer me to one closer to home and I can have maintenance done here once we figure out what causing the pain in my abdomen. I would love to get some cc's put into the band and then maybe after all this time I can actually start the weight loss journey.

  2. Hello LapBand Community,

I haven't been on here in quite some time. I had my surgery at the end of 2010 and I can say that since the surgery I've lost approximately 30lbs. Anyway, I don't even care about that part right now. I know I need to do better and I really haven't. My issue is I have severe pain around my port area to the point that it hurts to touch my skin on my tummy in that area. It is always sore very tender to the touch and that has me worried. I would like to go to the doctor office that performed the surgery but they are approximately 100 miles from my home and I currently do not have a car. I called a surgeon in my area that I can get to with ease and they will not see me because they did not perform the surgery bummer right. I currently do not have any cc's in my band it is completely wide open probably another reason I wasn't able to loose what I needed to. I don't know what to do about this pain in my tummy it is a horrible feeling. Please give any suggestions that you may have. Thank you

  3. Congrats!!

I wont know if I've lost anything until the 25th. I'm still refusing to buy a scale.

ok, finally 2 lbs off last week, geesh,

I am really concentrating again, I think I slipped into the same old same old

today however I forgot my lunch and my Snacks and there are freaking donuts,

I will ignore even though I am straving, luckily there is some little cubes of cheese I can snack on a little to get me to lunch, not much worse then my cheese stick.

  4. Does it feel like your body is giong into starvation mode at any time? Did you just become a vegatarian after the surgery.

    Lisa,

I'll give you the run down of my typical week exercise and nutrition-wise.

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday - lap swimming for 35 minutes at 5:30 am, 30 minute walk around 12:30 pm, 35 minute walk with the dogs 4:30 pm, 60 minute zumba (all except Friday) 6 pm

Tuesday/Thursday - 30 minute walk 12:30 pm, 45 minute walk with the dogs 4:30 pm, 3-5 mile run 6 pm, 45 minute video - either kickboxing or some other cardio

Saturday - 60 minute boot camp 9 am, 60 minute walk with the dogs (sometimes longer)

Sunday - 60 minute walk with the dogs, run and/or video

As far as my diet goes, it's pretty monotonous, especially during the work-week. It generally looks like this:

Breakfast 10 am - fat free plan greek yogurt with .33 serving of Protein powder mixed in (146 calories, 26.6 g protein)

snack 1 pm - Protein shake (30 grams Protein, 160 calories)

lunch 3:30 pm - 1 hard boiled egg, 1/4 cup low fat cottage cheese, 2 oz raw veggie (cauliflower, broccoli, or carrots) (about 132 calories, about 14.4 g protein)

    Snack - 6ish pm - Protein Shake and one serving PB2 (115 calories, 18 g. protein)

dinner - 8 pm - large salad with either tuna, salmon, edamame, bun-less veggie burger, or tofu - salad includes 3 oz romaine lettuce, 0.3 oz alfalfa sprouts, 2 oz broccoli, 2 oz cauliflower, 2 oz mushrooms, 1 oz celery, 1 oz green or red pepper, 1 oz carrots, 1/2 tablespoon greek dressing - 88 calories for salad without protein, protein ranges from 60-100 calories. Lately I've added in a small amount of fruit - 4 oz peach, 1 small plum, 4 oz mango, 6 oz apple, or a large Tomato.

I take one chewable Multi-Vitamin per day, 1200 Calcium - one at Breakfast, one at dinner, 2 times a week, I take a B12, and 2-3 times a week, I take 1000mg D3. (my multi-vitamin and calcium are an extra 30 calories per day)

I just had my blood taken last Saturday in preparation for my year appt on the 20th. I'll know better then how my Vitamin levels look, but I'm really strict with taking my Vitamins. Eventually, when I'm in maintenance, I'd like to up my calorie intake to somewhere between 1000-1200 per day, but for right now, I'm sticking with the range I've been eating.

    I hope that helps!

  5. Well you are doing it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats to you

just thought i'd put in my two cents about the 100 pound loss question. i honestly don't believe any of mine was luck. i work my BUTT off. i work out, on average, 2 hours a day...and it's not just two hours of walking. i do lap swimming 35 minutes at 5:30 am three times a week; i take an hour of zumba 2 nights a week; i walk the dogs for at least 45 minutes on those days; i walk during my lunch break for a half hour every day unless it's raining; and i run between 3-5 miles on the days i don't have zumba. i exercise seven days a week and have since surgery. i also eat between 650-850 calories most days, keeping my carbs very low (generally between 30-50 g a day). those calories and carbs include everything - Vitamins and Calcium included. i'm very, very strict. now that i'm 7 pounds away from goal, i'm starting to incorporate more carbs into my diet - mostly fruit - but honestly, for the first 10 months, i rarely had any fruit, bread, Pasta, etc because they were just way too carby. i'm a vegetarian, who has learned to eat more fish, so my diet really consists of veggies and low carb sources of Protein only.

  6. Oh yeah. I figured out that I was so tight after my fill on Tuesday because my stomach was full of gas  it felt like it did when i initially first came out of surgery really tight and uncomfortable. After finally getting all of that extra air out of me my stomach finally started growling this morning around 11. I had some mashed potatoes and it didn't take very many for me to fill up on not to mention it was kinda hard to swallow. So anyway, i go back to the doctor on the 25th if this is gonna help me out then i'm gonna stick with this level of restriction.

  7. I can only plan to do better and actually try. I hope to get to the green zone soon so i can start to lose the weight like i'm supposed to.

Ladies, I just think some of it is out of our control. In fact, when I hear about how hard you all work with slow results, I know that it isn't a matter of what I did right that you're doing wrong-- no way! I lost 100 lbs and part of it was just plain old dumb luck. Many of you are way healthier in behavior than I am.

I hate to say this because I don't want to be the cause of anyone's pain and I truly believe that it isn't fair-- but I don't exercise and haven't really done much in the way of sustained physical activity this entire time. I ate low carb for the first 6 months and have been more relaxed since then, so it isn't even some magical calorie or specific food-type eating plan that got me 100 lbs down. Honestly, I think it's that I actually have a relatively small build underneath all of the fat, and that I hadn't dieted or messed with my metabolism at all in 10 years before getting surgery, so my body was willing to cooperate if I just ate less and ate healthy most of the time.

I only say all of this because I want you to know-- you are not a failure and most of you seem to be doing even more than I did but having slower results. It's frustrating and unfair, but as long as you stay honest with yourself and keep pushing, I have to believe that eventually you will see better results.

  8. Theresa maybe we can help each other and keep each other motivated to get down to our goals. I did read somewhere that I should substitute a Protein shake in everyday for a meal to help with keeping me full. I am also starting off with 30 minutes of treadmill to get my heart rate up.

Ebeeze, no worries my friend I am right there with you. My 1 yr. anniversary was Sept 29. I have only lost 20lbs in my year. I am blaming myself, I do not exercise nearly enough.

I went in to see my Dr on the 29th and he gave me another fill. I am now at 7cc in my 10cc band. I am so tight now. Hoping I am not to tight. I am going to figure out what I have been doing wrong and fix it. I have always drank my Water and count calories and Protein. But because of my no weightloss issue I cant help but feel as if I am doing something wrong. This is an everyday struggle and I feel as if I have failed everyday when I see the scale.

I am truly happy for all of you who have hit goal or are close to it. I hope to be posting a huge loss on my next anniversary.

If any of you have tips or tricks you would like to share, I definitley am willing to try them.

  9. Yep I got filled last night around 6:30 and I'm liquids only. All i have had is coffee and Water. I will add stuff to it eventually to see how i hold up. I'm full and I feel full so i'm good with that.

just filled yesterday? or how long, my doc has me complete the day of my fill on clear liquids, next day full liquids, next day mushies, then the Proteins and veggies a bit soft the final day.

but that is a good sign, I have been filled and on the above regiment feel starving. so that's great.

  10. Good Morning,

I finally got a chance to get in for a fill and hopefully get this show on the road. I'm not sure exactly how many cc's she put in there but I'm feeling very full today for no apparent reason. I'm hoping that the weight loss will pick up. Its been a year and I'm down 32lbs total, not a huge amount but I'm not going to get down on myself to much right now. I'm in the market for some ways to prepare my meals and count my calories and Proteins. I don't buy very many precooked meals so I'm not really sure how to do this but I'm sure there is a method I can use. Anyway, you guys pray for me and I will try to get on this site as often as I can cause this seems to be the only place where I can get some kind of support. Thanks again team!!!

  11. Thanks Lady I hope this picks up pretty well.

Oh remember not everyone!!!and there are varying degrees, in 3 months I only lost 7 lbs total. uggg. I have 8 cc's, I have a friend with 9 you have lots of room, ask your dr to be aggressive. have you hesitated to get a fill because of expense, explain to them that this is an issue and that you'd like them to be aggressive.

try to find a cheaper way to get a fill without endangering yourself- my place is 150 for a fill- I"m self pay, it's a blind fill. I had one flouro fill and I liked it but it's too expensive for me. Definately change, commit to the weight loss. One thing that helped me be on track in the begining was the hard core diet before the band- where I did 1 Protein Shake and 2 lean cuisines a day, - I did that for a month- sometimes instead of lean cuisine it was just a mean less then 350 calories of my own design. Now lean cuisine is hard for me becuase there is so much starch that is hard for me to eat- but eating like the sort of broke my focus on food, and increased my connection with weight loss

I also did fiber in the morning, and fiber in the afternoon

    and cromium piccolate

maybe try something stark like that- if the lean cuisine is too expensive, figure out another meal that is less then 350 cals, if you like to home cook. just use the recipe calculator on spark people .com to see exactly how big of serving your recipes are.

world according to eggface has tons of resources too, great inspriation and great recipes, and tips to get more Protein.< /p>

make sure your protein is above 75 a day or your body will not let any weight go.

you could even go starker and do 2 shakes and 1 meal per day. but solid foods are always better.

YOu can do this!!!! it's hard, the band should be dimming your hunger, but you should working at seeing how little you can eat, not how much.

and drink lots of Water.< /p>

just get a change started, recommit. you can do this,

plus do some activity start out with walking for 30 minutes 5 days a week and build on that, the weather is nice for that , or do it in a mall or some other big building, or on a treadmill.

We are all here for you.

  12. thank you so much for the encouragement!!! I only have about 3cc's in my band because the nurse somehow managed to take some how and by some unforseen source she couldn't put any in. go figure.

I called my physician today and made and appt for next tuesday evening. I was planning to ask them to put in a few cc to get me up to at least 6cc's. I figure if its too tight then i'd be more likely to come back sooner and have some taken out versus not having enough and not really being in a rush to get it to the right level. Right now i can eat like i never had the surgery so its very hard for me not to eat like that even though mentally you know you shouldn't. i just have to do better because i really wanted this surgery pretty bad and i'm starting to get discouraged on every level.

Hi Ebeeze, i also just passed my band date and i am down just 36 lbs and i struggle to keep there, but one thing i know is all of us have a different journey and like someone else said on here normally by now i would have put it all back on + more. AI also am struggling with hunger again so it is time for a fill, i currently am at 11 out of 14 but i can tell that i am no longer tight. I know it is hard to read all these posts that have lost so much but i just keep hanging on to the fact that my journey is mine and i can't compare myself to everyone else. Maybe check for a fill and also if you have an IPHONE or computer there is a site called lose it that is so easy to track what you are eating an excercise i love it. It has helped me track everything so much better , also it works on droids to. Keep on truckin and trying to do the next right thing when it comes to your health. We can do this, remember we did not go thru this surgery and journey just to fail! Try talking to yourself more positively about the amount you have lost, positive works so much better in the long run. Also shout out to all of you who have done so awesome KEEP IT UP!

  14. My band anniversary is tomorrow and i must say i have failed. i haven't lost weight in months and i don't have any restriction at all. i'm going to call my physician and see if i can get a fill this week or early next week. I need a revamp of what i'm doing cause this isn't working for me at all. everyone seems to be doing well but me. i'll probably be crying all damn day tomorrow.

  15. Lisa,

I need to exercise more and eat less. I do need a fill desperately. I've been slacking off and I need to get myself back on track. I spent my entire summer running around the world with my daughters travel basketball team so I was really unable to situate a meal the correct way. Now that fall is here and I'm a bit more stable and home more often I plan to kick it up a 100% and do whats necessary to get down to at least 200lbs. I need to get on this site more often as well cause there is a lot of motivational things on here. I don't have any support system out here because quite frankly everyone I know is content with the way the look.

ebeeze I was wondering how many cc's do you have? if the band isn't helping to dim the hunger between meals and Snacks, like if you eat 3 solid meals and 2 less then 150 cal snacks with more then 6 g of Protein and if you are still starving in between those things, maybe you could use more of a fill, or if you are exercising a lot maybe you aren't getting enough protein. if you are 300 lbs you should be getting like at leas 75 g of protein a day, and if you are active even more. i snack on lunch meat, Jerky, cheese stick, etc. for hunger. some yogurt, especially the carbmaster kind.

or you could make a Protein Shake fudgesicle with pritein shake and sugar free pudding in a little cup, frozen.

plus if my huunger is really bad I'll also do Fiber pills mid way between meal and snack. one in the morning and one in the afternoon with a bunch of Water tool it helps curb the appetite.

  16. Hey Everyone,

Well I went in today and had my first appt of the year......i know i know i'm way behind schedule especially since I haven't been since thanksgiving, oh well. I knew I needed to get in there but my surgeons office is about a hour and fifteen minutes from my house and Michigan=winter=bad road conditions. However I haven't weighed myself not one time since the surgery back in September. I don't even own a scale. I have lost a total including pre-op of 46lbs!!!!! I'm so excited but I have such a long way to go. I'm still overweight but I can admit that I am feeling better and looking even sexier than I already did. My clothes are hanging off me and I don't even care because that is my personal confirmation that I did the right thing by having surgery. I am so glad that everyone for the most part is doing well and seeing much progress and for those who aren't doing too hot just keep at it and make the necessary adjustments to your life. You may find that you need to make adjustment to accommodate a workout schedule, a kid free day or adjustments to the people that you let be close to you, but the point is zone in on the problems that are hindering your success with this and fix them right away. that was my random thought of the day, lol.

Anyway good luck to everyone i wish you all success and sexiness
