Gillian love ur comparison to everday things (potatoes, dog food) this is the way I have always compared my excess weight. It started as a bag or 2 of sugar (way back) then progressed to bag of spuds now it's even heavier than my 6yr old dau' :tongue2: . And like u say I can hardly lift her. I often think of the huge strain on my heart, back etc. Ideally I would love to shift 4.5 - 5st. Time for change. Thanks Garry, I prefer to know and be prepared for all eventualities !!

Hi Michelle I'm also getting banded on the 7th .What time do u arrive ? I arrive mid morning on the 6th. It would b gr8 if we could meet up. Are u going alone ? I'm going alone as my hubby has been working away the past few weeks and actually flies home on the 6th unfortunately I'll not get 2 c him (I decided 2 stick with the cancellation date I was offered) I told him a girl has priorities he wasn't impressed then he will be looking after the children (3). It will do him good to have the kids for a few days (2) are teens. I didn't want to start organizing childminders too many questions would have been asked. In re. to ur ? I got nurofen melts, deflatine, simethicone to ease wind pains, dextro energy I'm also takign taking gaviscon dual as i think they are gr8 for wind and reflux. And I'll go out day I arrive and get bottles of water. Can anyone tell me r there shops nearby as I don't want 2 b wandering 2 far on my own. Can't wait 2 chat 2 u Michelle

Hi Odgemodge, I have just tried "wls venues" as you said and they have a clinic just a few miles from me. HAPPY DAYS !!!! I'm going phone them tommorow to find out what the craic is. This will make an unbelievable difference to my aftercare and save me alot of time and alot of money. Thanks

:tt2:Thanks ! wishful, homecare and westbourne its good to hear how others are dealing with things. Now, more questions ... where can i get contact details for wls aftercare providers ? I have just phoned a private hospital here in Belfast and beed given a price of £210 for each fill/defill.This is way out of my league. And would like to check if wls operate in N.Ireland. CDB does come to Dublin monthly according to previous postings. This is a 2.5 hr x 2 train journey and was looking for somewhere closer to home. Although Dublin is also a great place to shop (for skinny clothes) lol. Also I take ppi tablets (reflux) will I still be able to take tabs broke/mashed up or will I need to sort alternative. I've been told that long term weightloss should ease these symptoms.:bored:

Hi all, Thanks Sammy,Gillian, wishful for ur welcome I really appreciate ur support as I feel I'm living double life I have only told hubby, mum & dad and a friend (I do intend to tell my best mates this w/e but at present I have no intention of telling my manager, colleagues, neighbours etc.Which is totally not like me usually I can't hold my water ! But I feel this is very personal and am so anxious I don't want to listen to what they think, as I think there is alot of ignorance re. this procedure. And it's only when I researched it myself I began to realize as so many have said before that band is a tool/aid that I have to learn to work with to achieve the result I 'm hoping for. Have others kept this to their nearest and dearest or do most people talk openly about it. It's all new to me as I don't know anyone who has been banded. I would appreciate ur opinions. :smile2:
