  1. yes, more now than again...the day after I started my pre-op diet I rolled my landscape trailer on one of our expressways here....that was not the best time to give up drinking!!!!!!!!
  2. Kat, How exciting - I wish I was going on Friday. I am sure all will be fine. How long do you have to stay in Toronto?
  3. I think you can still have a drink or two - but they are empty calories. My galfriend can still enjoy a glass of wine with me when we go out. If you can't have a drink or two then I am cancelling my surgery right now!!!!
  4. well if it is support you need then you sure came to the right place. I have just recently found this site and it is great....move around, read other posts and ask lots of questions!!!! Best of luck
  5. I am in Kitchener - I will be banded on the 29th by Dr. Mumford SWLC in Toronto. $16,000 inclusive. I filled out the form online, had a phone call from the clinic and then a phone consult with the Dr. My surgery was booked for a month later. I have private insurance thru my husbands work and they will not cover any of the surgery but you can claim it on your taxes at the end of the year.
  6. This is the best site ever!!!!! Everyone are so supportive - thanks all OMG as I was writing this and eating my Orange flavored Optifast shake Ithought 'Mmmm, this is really good'. All the bitching I did about the skakes and now I like them....who knew.
  7. tp is probably right because I have to have someone take me home also - leave the walking for the next day. You will probably want to just go home and sleep - that what my friend did after her surgery. Check the walking home from surgery out!!!!
  8. glad it all went well for you....keep us posted
  9. thindolphin - you better stay away from my boyfriend Ben!!!! He is so gonna want me when I am 100lbs thinner.
  10. Good luck on the 31st Mike. I am going on the 29th so I will keep you posted on what to expect.
  11. Had a Benjamin Bratt (The Cleaner on A and E) date tonight with my neighbour because we both love him, the show and she doesn't have cable. She doesn't know that I am getting banded next week. She brought Miss Vicki's chips and donuts!!!!! I didn't have not so much as a smell!!!!! Damn, I was tempted though. I am on day 7 of the pre op diet and I could eat a moose up to his knees in gravy right now but didn't cheat. I have been sticking to the diet - still taking one cream in my coffee and have used a drop of Olive Oil in some of my stir fries but haven't really cheated. I walked thru the mall today to get stuff for surgery next week - it was really hard walking past the food court - damn, why does grease have to smell so good!!!! Grocery shopping was hell too but I am so over it now:thumbup:
  12. good luck to all you that are getting banded this week - I am scheduled for next Tues and can hardly wait.
  13. Becky, hang in there - I am sure you will feel better tomorrow and even better the day after. You are on your way girl
  14. I don' think I had just one Aha moment - for me it was that my mother died of a massive heart attack a few years ago at the age of 62. I started thinking that only gives me a good 20 years left with my family. Also my friend had banding done last year and she is down 70lbs (although she has found a way of cheating) - I didn't want to be the only 'Fat' one anymore. I hate walking into a room and looking around for someone fatter than me. We had a family vacation to Cuba in May '08 and I can't stand to look at the pics - my daughters friends affectionally started calling me 'Big Mamma'. Trying to get into that Wetsuit for scuba diving is a whole different story!!!! I can file that memory under 'Horror'. I hate clothes shopping, Public events, Buying food in public and most of all I can hardly get an airplane seatbelt done up. I hate that I have given up wearing shoes with heels, belts and all my funky jewelry because I don't want to attract anymore attention to myself.....6 days to go and I am down 13lbs already. My fear is that I will have all this excess stomach fat that I will have to deal with after losing the weight. On a more positive note - My Wish List: 1. Buy a leather coat 2. Tuck my top into my jeans 3. Go white Water rafting 4. Go para-sailing 5. Buy sexy lingerie 6. Finding a bra that fits 7. Travel to Italy and take pics that I can enjoy 8. Walk on the beach hand in hand with my hubby and not be distracted by my size.
  15. Good Luck Today Pennylane :crying:
  16. Lookingforme - I would trade you the shakes for the broth. I hate the shakes and only manage to get 1 or 2 in per day. Hang in there...it will be worth the weight (or loss of)
  17. OMG - your story made me laugh out loud....I am sure it wasn't funny as you were going thru it but a good lesson to us all.
  18. a little off topic - I love those tickers that you guys are using - how do you get it to post once you have set it up?
  19. walking helps with gas and also peppermint tea...anything is worth a try. I am not looking forward to the gas pain part when I have my surgery but I am prepared for it.
  20. Kat, My gal friend had that Dr. do her surgery last year...she is down 70lbs. Funny how the same clinic has different preop diets. I was told it was ok to use Crystal Light so I use that in my shakes and in my water. I think the trick for me with the shakes is to make them really cold and slushy. I am going to try a root beer shake today. I do wish I could have broth though. I am down 9 lbs since Tues. When is your surgery?
  21. wow - thanks for the info all...think I will stay away from the rice !!!!
  22. Can anyone tell me what the problem is with rice and bread after surgery??? I am so hungry right now I could eat my shoe  My husband had chicken and pasta for dinner and I was so tempted to taste it but didn't
  23. Kat, I wish I was allowed broth...your soups sounds yummy. I managed 2 shakes today - used crystal lite tangerine in a choc with lots of ice...tastes like Terry's Orange Chocolate....Had a vanilla one with strawberry/kiwi - a little sweet but managed to get it down. I am with the Surgical Weight Loss Centre in Toronto - Dr. Mumford

  25. aaaaahhh, that makes sense to me now - My insurance doesn't cover lapband here in Canada so I am paying out of pocket so there wouldn't be any approval.
