I really, really need to learn how to work this band! The Doc said I have roughly 3ml in my band - last night I had 1/2C food but still felt hungry so I had another 1/4C - still not really satisfied but left it alone - 30 minutes later I felt so so so so so full I thought I was going to burst wide open - That was around 5. At 10pm I was still feeling uncomfortably full! So I guess I need to stop after 1/2C and wait 30 min before I add anything else! I had a little under 1/2C when I had the grits and felt ok for about 6 hours. Is this normal? I also think it depends on the kind of food - thin soups don't ever make me feel satisfied or full but the thicker stuff like grits I have to be careful with. Whew..... So much drama

Go Maria! You will be banded before you know it! Just make sure your test is done in the binder. That's all liz really wants. Heather, wish i could walk today but you'll probably be long gone by the time I get back to Vallejo! Let us know if you turn out to be crazy. Sharon - welcome!!! The long journey will be worth it. Stick with these ladies and you will get thru it faster than you think. I was fortunate and found this forum right after I got the referral. I had orientation May 12th and was Banded September 14th - so literally 4 months! Could have done August but it conflicted with my Depo shot LOL. My point is, these ladies will keep you motivated and on the fast track! Reggie - what can we do to help? I hate that you're having such a hard time. have you tried maybe protein only - 1/2 cup maybe 4 times per day - that's what i did before the band and it worked well for me - kept me feeling "satisfied" for the most part. John - I so agree with you - we are all struggling just at different stages and some stages are tougher than others. You worked to hard to lose this weight to gain it back now! Try to work the pre op 1200 cal plan - or atkins!! I believe you didn't get the band because the sleeve is a better fit for your body - that's just how life works - everythng for a reason!! Nicole - I wish things would get easier for you & Mike. This new you is still new to him too so you guys need an adjustment period. He just may feel a little left behind...

Howdy - I was just banded last Monday, the 14th and it was a piece of cake! Easy! I have taken absolutely zero pain meds and am sitting in my office right now as I type. surgery was at 8am and I was home by 1pm - walking around the house. The following day was the worst day for pain (the port site is really sore because of the muscle) Oh, but i was still walking around - went shopping - all that so it was completely barable. Every day after that is better. I feel great and NOT HUNGRY! Both of you will do fine and please - stick with feeling excited!

Riley - you crack me up. It's really hard to stay away from carbs on full liquids only. What did you have that wasn't a carb?

Ok, I just got online and checked the binder again - Jes, you're right - it does say "up to 64 ouces" and Pammie it says stage II grits!

    Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

I'm in stage II - it says in the binder that we can have "grits (thin consistancy)" So, thin grits I had. I don't think I'm in bandster hell yet - it was only those 2 days that I felt like I was starving. Yeah, Jes, we are still on ! I found two places right next to trader joes - Tammy's nails & A&A nails. do you know which one it is??

Thanks for the info, Chris! I set my PCP appt BEFORE I even had surgery haha - It's next tuesday. Enjoy your Vaca and FEEL BETTER! - does this mean we won't see you Saturday?? Jes - did you make that PCP appt? Pammie - you will never believe this... I had 1/3 c grits this morning at 6:30 am and I am STILL so flippin full I'm having a hard time drinking my water. I think it just all depends on what I eat - the grits are a little thicker so they "stick" whereas the thin creamy soups just rush right thru - in one side, out the other LOL.

Thanks, BabySista. John, I will be there. Don't think I'll make the walk - It is an hour drive as it is - Jes, what do you think about that? Oh, Nicole - my boobs need a planet of their own! You are right, they have NOT gone down (yet!) by band size has but not the cup - boo hoo - Love the pic with the sexy wet hair. Tina - pray for me that they will, eventually, shrink! Riley Jane - take it easy on that knee - another words, NO CAKES lol. Have fun in Lake Tahoe - you will be missed :tongue2: Heather I have a dress for you that I got from Torrid - I've only worn it once! it's an 18 - I'll bring it Saturday - got another one but its a 20 (I think) It looks like it would be too big for you but we'll check it out - got some capri's too. I emailed the Doc to see if I have any fluid in my band yet. All of a sudden yesterday I got starving and am still hungry - I feel NOWHERE near full or satisfied on 1/4 cup. The only thing that worked really well was grits and I had 1/2 c - then I felt satisfied but only for about an hour. What's up with this? I'm suppose to be at goal and at my sweet spot by now - it's been a whole week already LMAO. Reggie, Oh, Reggie, where for art thou! Hope you can come Saturday!!!! Jes - had a good time! wish I coulda stayed longer - see you tomorrow!!

Ah, Pammie - nothing's wrong with you that isn't wrong with the rest of us - if we didn't have those same food issues we wouldn't be here!! You just need to get your .5 back and you will be fine! DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP ABOUT IT. If you must eat, eat meat! I'm tellin you they did that whole story on MSMBC about how addicting sugar/carbs are and the chemicle reaction it causes in the brain. Dr. Oz said the reason we still feel hungry after eating that crud is because our body is still looking/needing nutrition and that junk just doesn't cut it so it keeps asking for it.

Good morning Ya'll - back at the office today! Ok, so back down to 195 today - I've lost 6lbs so far since surgery last monday. I don't know what that 2lbs was all about but I do know that my tummy seemed so much more sore and swollen yesterday - maybe the engagment party WAS to much to handle so soon. Yesterday was a day of rest - well, inbetween bathroom runs! LOL - So much better today. Monique, Doc Fisher is pretty sweet - he will ask you which surgery you want and WHY you chose that one so have your answer ready. Then he will tell you how much weight he wants you to lose pre op - for me, he set up my psych appt right then & there and some lab orders. Bring your binder. Pat - Does your husband understand that the malabsorbtion isn't forever - it's only until your body catches on and corrects itself - they say that takes anywhere between 6 - 18 months. After that you're in the same boat we are in only you don't have the luxury of a fill. That is why I chose the band - All the people I know that had the RNY gained back alot of their weight a few years out. It would be very helpful for you to talk with some folks that had RNY so that you can hear both sides. Another good point to the band is that things happen (pregnancy/cancer) and with the band you can unfill it so that you can get the nutrients you need when it's needed. These are just MY reasons - hope you find em helpful.

Hi all, busy day yesterday. I had that party to go to and yesterday morning was time to assemble & decorate the cakes. I had a last minute request for coffee cake so I made a huge one of those yesterday morning. Party went well - We did way too much though. We were told that there would be about 50 people but in actuality there were about 20! So tons of stuff left over - including the entire huge coffee cake! No, Jes - I haven't eaten any cake. I still am not fully on full liquids yet either. I can't explain it but I just DON"T WANT TO EAT. Actually, there was a point last night, around 11:30, when all the guests were gone and just the drunk homies were still around - they ordered pizza and the smell was very overwhelming. That was the only time I really wanted to eat something - I finished cleaning up and left instead. My neighbor brought me over some home made chicken broth and I sipped on that - I was fabulous. What a difference home made broth makes - that boxed stuff sucks! So, yesterday I weighed 195. today I weigh 197 - WTF!! All I had was my usual protein shot for breakfast, water & 1/2 C of cream of potato soup & chicken broth. I only ate the soup because I knew I was going to be at this party for hours and was worried about any temptation. So I gained two pounds off cream of potato because that is the ONLY thing I've done differently. Damn carbs! I swear I'm allergic to them. So after reading your post, April, I have decided to try to get on full liquids - worried though about gaining weight! - so I had 1/4 c cheddar cheese soup for lunch. It was what I had that had the least amount of carbs and cheese is more of a protein. Any protein suggestions for full liquids? I'm rambling now....
  23. My first week has been great. I've only lost 4lbs but happy just to be losing. Tuesday was the worst day for pain but even still not bad enough to take any pain meds. I'm still sore at the port site, of course, but other than that - I feel good! How bout you?
