I feel full with my band without overeating.
-
how often do you see your doctor?
GuyMontag replied to dsferfeargregrhgttrhht's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to see him quite a bit but although I keep in touch with my doc's office, I haven't actually been back for years. -
I think he's being subliminal by saying, Please ya right! That means he knows what he's doing!

I survived on chocolate Boost with extra protein.

I tried sleeping for a week with a CPAP machine and couldn't get used to it. I had my WLS right after that and never needed it again.

So Steph, if I show up at the next support group meeting are you just going to be staring at my crotch the whole time? Will we be talking and I'll have to go, I AM UP HERE...HELLO?!?

Depends on the day and time for me. Mornings, liquids only. Some days I am tight I do best with breakfast foods or easy to eat things like tuna salad. On loose days, pizza, big mac, whatever. Lol.

Allow me to retort.

This site doesn't like deleted posts. Lol.

It can be confirmed by your surgeon but there are many possible symptoms. Some people have all the symptoms, some of the symptoms or very few of the symptoms. Pain when eating, sudden ability to eat anything with no restriction, complete restriction where you can't even swallow your own spit, night coughing, acid reflux, are just some of the symptoms that come to mind off the top of my head. These symptoms can also be indicative of more minor problems like just eating too soon before bed, being too tight, or a dilated pouch. That's why it's always important to get your doc's input.

There's not as much motion in the ocean without a decent sized oar.

Politics, people with preconceived ideas fed to them by other people, usually the media to make bucketloads of cash, arguing over anecdotal evidence that ultimately gets them nowhere. I'm sorry, did I just type that out loud? Please, continue the argu...er...debate by all means.

It's a good thing this is an ONLINE only forum

I don't see that specific section on the website

Who let a cute girl in the 'Men's Room'? Alert...Alert!!! Lol.

Not sure the exact amount but yes. Mainly, as the fat around it contracts back you do gain additional length. The rumors are fantastically true!

You may get lucky and they can fix it with an unfill. If not, you'll more than likely have to go through a revision. If they do the unfill the stomach can go back the way it's supposed to be. Maybe since they said you have a partial slip the odds are better that you can just do an unfill to fix it. Good luck!

I'm reading The Sound And The Fury by William Faulkner.

More surgery and I feel like a failure

That sucks. I hear port revision surgery is pretty minor though so you should be fine. Good luck! -
How common are complications?
GuyMontag replied to SpartanPrincess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No commentary, just some info from Allergan and some helpful studies to answer your question. Allergan, the manufacturer of the Lap Band, published the following as part of their Patient Safety Information. “In the United States clinical study, with 3-year follow-up reported, 88% of the 299 patients had one or more adverse events, ranging from mild, moderate, to severe. Nausea and vomiting (51%), gastroesophageal reflux (regurgitation) (34%), band slippage/pouch dilatation (24%) and stoma obstruction (stomach-band outlet blockage) (14%) were the most common post-operative complications. In the study, 25% of the patients had their band systems removed, two-thirds of which were following adverse events.” http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20563663 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20589514 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20496124 -
My understanding is that most obese people have hiatal hernias and they are commonly repaired when the band is placed.

Many times when we tighten up and are unable to eat and get stuck we also tend to stop drinking. When we dehydrate it tightens us even further until we cannot even swallow our own spit. In cases like this I would always take some liquid motrin and then drink TONS of fluid. Other than that, take small bites, chew chew chew, and eat slow. Good luck!

Liquid Lortab here.

You can always start over. Support is definitely the key to sustaining your success. You may consider going once a month to the support group that is an hour a fifteen minutes away. If you make that commitment it might help you realize how committed you are to the new start. You could also start your own support group in your area. There is a website called Meetup.com that is really helpful in starting new groups or finding weight loss groups in your area. Good luck!
