  1. The most dramatic effects are usually at the beginning. I immediately stopped eating out as much. In the beginning it can really just be trying to find a balance and what works for you and your band. Once things settle down mealtime is just like it is anywhere else I guess. I think the more you prepare the less disruptive it is. I have a pretty good grasp on what I can and cannot comfortably eat so I don't find the band limiting me very much in social or family interactions. It definitely took me a year or so to get this way and I've been comfortable for the last several.
  2. Dehydration would be my next guess.

    HEEELPP!!

I didn't time myself but I was SUPER careful and chewed it until liquid, yes with the bun. Knowing what I know now I'm not sure I would have taken that kind of chance. A slipped band is nothing I ever want to experience first hand.

    HEEELPP!!

I ate a roastburger from Aryb's on day 9 after surgery and I was okay. That being said, do what I say and not what I do. Lol. We're not perfect but we are responsible for our actions. Just because you didn't have an adverse effect this time doesn't mean you won't the next.

Okay...NEVER make yourself throw up unless you are stuck or something. Don't turn this into bulimia. If you did damage you'd probably know because of the pain. If you're not in pain or noticing any side effects I wouldn't bother with a call to the doc. However, this kind of behavior will happen again and if you don't take steps to combat it in the future it could lead to lots of difficulty and self sabotage in the future. That's what I would be more concerned about if you're not in any pain. Good luck!

    Lying About LapBand

I've heard too many stories of concerned coworkers having bulimia interventions to think hiding it is a good idea. Lol.

    Chest pain

They gave you pain meds, right? I needed the meds for the first four days.

    A little scare!

One thing I've found is that if I'm stuck drinking something DOES NOT HELP usually. It tends to just back up on top of whatever is stuck. You can do the bandster dance which is walking around, putting your arms over your head, jumping up and down, etc. The best thing to do is just avoid being stuck in the first place. The good thing you did was stop eating. That's generally what causes problems. If one bite gets stuck I can usually wait it out. Kind of like a slow truck going over a bridge. However, if I start sending more traffic down the lane...oh man it backs up quick. Don't forget you shouldn't drink at least 30 minutes after you eat though. That's a good rule to always follow.

    Anti inflammatories

We're not supposed to take NSAID's...HOWEVER, you can usually take them fine in liquid form such as liquid motrin. As Nicole says, ask your doc.
  11. Nope. Lol. But glad you were! Congrats!
  12. I eat a variety of foods now and seem to be doing just fine on my vitamin intake. When I feel that I'm limiting my diet more I'll take Vitafusion gummies to help fill in the gap. Personally, I've found the bariatric specific vitamins to be a tad overpriced.
  13. Wow. If you have to give yourself 3 hours lead time to drink before you go to sleep then something is definitely wrong. That would dehydrate me if I had to limit my liquid intake that early every night.

    5 days post op questions

The fifth day was the magic day for me. First four were yucky then after that I was fine with a little bit of port tenderness. I'd still baby that port area for a week or so more if I were you. Congrats!

    Protein bars

My favorites were called Titan and you can get them at Walmart or Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Titan-Chocolate-Peanut-Butter-Crunch/dp/B004GW9M5C/ref=sr_1_5?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1376492678&sr=1-5&keywords=titan+bar
  17. I have over 14cc in a 14cc band. If I'm at 13cc I can eat a Subway sub so I know what you mean. Some people just need more fluid in their band. The doc can check it easily.

    Helppp !! 2nd fill a total of 8cc

CALL DOC NOW! And good luck! You shouldn't live in pain.
  22. Good for you for going to the doc. It sounds suspiciously like a slipped band but it could just be a dilated pouch. I hope the doc gets you all fixed up! I have to make sure I don't eat at least two hours before I go to bed otherwise I have trouble at night. Do you eat right before bed?
  23. I drink right up until I eat and I've never had a problem. Your mileage may vary.
