    Need Advise?

Thanks, I'm just afraid that his PA is the one who handles all surgery's and scheduling fills that I will cause a problem.

    scared of getting a fill

Just curious is your DR or PA numbing your area before they fill? I've had two fills and both with no numbing and very painful after several tries to find center of port.
  3. Today I went for my 2nd fill since surgery and I was in tears by the time it was over. My first fill caused me to get very sick to my stomach and I don't know if it was from the solution I had to drink or if it was nerves because he had difficulty hitting my port. I really can't figure out why such a problem because I am under an exray machine. Today, I was nervous about being sick of my stomach but that was the least of my problems. It was his assistant doing the procedure and she first stuck me and the needle was to short, so inserted a longer needle which required a second stick. This was painful but she didn't hit center of the port and restuck me again. After the third attempt I asked did she get it and was going to have to be stuck again. I felt the emotions taking over and started to cry because this was very painful. My doctor took over and after the fourth try he got it in. He was very upset that I was upset but I really dread having these fills because I've had a horrible two experiences. I have been in a lot of pain today and am very sore. Has anyone else experienced this? I don't know what to do:confused:
  4. I've had my first fill this week and I don't know really what I should be feeling as far as tightness. I feel the tightness even when I drink Water. I can get it down but that feeling is there and eating has not been that easy. I can get the food down, but usually it get stuck and it takes me a few minutes for it to pass. It's not at the point of it coming up, but it hurts till it does down. Is this the way it's suppose to be for the restriction? I don't know what to expect. I don't want to call if this is normal. Any suggestions on eating. I'm trying not to take big bites and chew but maybe I'm eating too fast. I just don't know what I'm doing to not have this happen.

    I cheated... on myself

Don't be so hard on yourself. It's a very hard not to put what you want in your mouth when you want it. That's why were having to this procedure. food for me is my comfort. Even though I'm only 6 weeks post op, I still want what I can't have. Although my doctor told me something when I went in for my first fill. He told me watch your food for 6 days and on the 7th day have what you want to satisfy you. This gives me hope. So today I had a taco, which tasted so good. Hang in there
  6. Little confused when I saw my doctor on Tuesday I told him that I might have messed up still drinking my 60 grams of Protein drinks and eating 2 meals a day because hardly any weight loss. He said that was okay just to make it with Water instead of fat free milk. When I posted before about not loosing much weight, I got responses that people were not still drinking that much protein after going on solid foods. That is was too much liquid Protein. This is a good point I would like some feedback from people who have been banded for some time. Also, drinking it with water taste horrible any suggestions on how to doctor it up?
  7. I had my first fill yesterday, and I was very nervous not knowing what to expect. Doctor had trouble hitting center even though he was looking at ex ray and that made me even more nervous. This was very uncomfortable and when he final got it and I now have 5 1/2 cc. When I left hospital I felt very queezy and I don't know if it was the stuff I had to drink 3 times while he made the adjustment. This morning my stomach was very messed up. Has anybody else experienced this after fills or did I make myself sick from nerves?
  8. Go under caption quick links next to log out and then go to edit signature. That is where you will copy and past the link that was on the tickerfactory. I believe it was the second set of links and it just appears
  9. I did take a couple of sips of Water, but I don't know what this liquid was I am guessing something that shows up on exrays. I heard the tech say they don't use liquid baraum anymore, but it had a bitter taste. He inserted the needle and then the table lifted me to an upright position for me to drink and him to see it going down I had clear liquid for 24 hours and then mushy food for 24 and then back to regular food is what he said.
  10. Somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong. I had surgery on Sept 24 and since the surgery I've only lost 4.5 lbs. I am so discouraged because I've been sticking to my 3 oz of Protein, drinking 60 grams of Protein Drink and trying to drink Water in between. I usually walk the tract 30 minutes which I was advised at least 4 to 5 times a week. And still no weight loss. I was due for a fill this past Tuesday, but they cancelled and I can't get the PA to call me back for a refill. I'm usually not a confrontational person, but I am pissed and will be voicing my concerns tomorrow. What am I doing wrong to not lose any weight. I'm begining to doubt this procedure and why did I do this and put myself through this if I can't lose. I truly feel just like eating what I want and the hell with it. Excuse my language but I'm frustrated. Anybody got any suggestions or advise or is this common?
  11. Sorry, but I just need to vent. I'm 5 weeks post op and was scheduled to have my first fill Tuesday. I've been at a weight lost of only 9.5 lbs since surgery. I've been walking everyday for 30 minutes because that's all I'm allowed at this time. I actually did it twice in one day and still no weight loss. I've been at this weight for probably 2 weeks. Tuesday, when I was scheduled for my fill, I got a call that they had emergency surgery and needed to reschedule and it would probably be next week since it had to be scheduled by the doctors PA and had to be done in the hospital. I understand and said no problem. Okay, I called Wednesday and was told that the PA was unavailable and would call. Okay, it's now Thursday and still no phone call to reschedule. I felt like a pest but I called again and asked if she was available and of course they were in surgery all day today. I told the receptionist well I figured that since my surgery was done on a Thursday, and usually the PA doesn't work on Fridays. She said that she would leave her a message and she would get back to me. Sure, they promise you they will be there for you, but that's not the case. I would like to get things moving and feel very discouraged because I want to see movement on my weight. People keep asking well how much have you lost and it's still the same. I know I seem very impatient, but when you work out and eat less and still no result. I feel like a failure.
  12. I'm going tomorrow for my first fill since my surgery 9/24/09 and I don't know what to expect. Does it hurt? Will I be sick afterward? and do you have to go back on your liquid diet after you get a fill? All they told me at my consultation is that they would do an ex ray and let me drink to make sure it went down. Other than that I don't know how it's done other than with a needle. I would appreciate any feedback, to kind of take the edge off.:cursing:
  13. You might want to check with your dr first. I am a week and 2 days being banded and yes I know you feeling of hurt, but it does get better. I think everybody diet plans are different. I was total clear liquid 1st week -broth; sugar free Popsicle and s.f. Jello with just Water and diet juices. I am now going on my second phase and I have creamed Soups and yogurt drinks at this stage. My next phase beings mushy foods and then I progress to real food. Yeah Hang in there and I know your feeling, because the hunger might begin for you. It did me, but I didn't cheat and haven't yet. It does get better and I so look forward to real food!!!!

    I am miserable

I feel your pain! I was banded on the 24th and now 7 days post op and I understand your agony. I do feel much better yesterday and today. My strength is coming back. Walking does help the pain, but try reclining back with your hand behind your head. Also, I used a warm heating pad on my stomach and it helped with the gas pains. As far as food, I am today going to phase 2 which is thicker Soups and it was tough the 1st 7 days and couldn't wait for the change in food. Hang in their that's what I'm doing. I'm going to believe what the rest of people say that it's worth it. Believe me I cried several days last week and thought what did I do to myself. I was not prepared for this and I have been on an emotional whirlwind. Hopefully, we will see the light at the end of this rainbow:tongue2:
  15. My surgery was on the 24th and I am still having quite a bit of gas build up. I feel fine in the morning, but as soon as I drink my Protein shake or but broth in my mouth, I start with the gas build up. By evening time I feel horrible again. I chew Gas X but really concerned how long this will last. I go back to work on Monday, and this might be quite embarrassing. I start my thicker Soups tomorrow and yogurt shakes, will this help having little bit more solid food. Also, I used to love my coffee in the morning and now I can't even stomach but a couple of sips. I have no desire to drink it. Will this feeling will go away? You know i never realized how many commercials on TV revolve around food. As I am sitting watching and hungry a food commercial comes on and It's food and I think boy will I be glad when I can have food again and it seems so far away before that time.
  16. Does anyone know if I should try to take something for my bowels at this point. I've not had a bowel movement since Sept 23 the day before my surgery. Is it too soon because I also had constaption problems and had to took stool softener that didn't work. I don't want to do anything too soon.:smile2:
  17. I thought my incisions would have been lower than where my doctor went in. I have about 7 cuts and I have three across where my bra goes. How am I suppose to put a bra on? Luckily I'm off of work for a week, but I am rather large chested and my boob seems to be irritating one incision spot. Any suggestions?
  18. Can someone tell me how you get the ticker on your postings. I can't seem to figure it out. I've tried but nothing showing up. Am I suppose to cut and paste web page and to where does that go? :smile2:
  19. I had my surgery on Thursday, September 24th and it's really kicked my butt. I am still having gas pains but walking does help, but I am now fighting indigestion last night and today. Is this normal? I can't hardly drink any water because it makes me feel sick to my stomach. I can stomach the broth and can eat some of the jello, but this to can make me feel sick. I'm so afraid of dehyrdation. Is this a normal feeling after 3 days?
  20. I also was banded on the 9/24 and understand your pain. Yes it does help to press, but I didn't wrap myself because I didn't want any complications to arise from too much pressure. Today is the first day that I actually don't feel so much pain. It's still there, but a lot easier to move around. I heard it should be better by 10 days. Hopefully, this is true. Also, I wasn't given yogurt on my list until my second week and then it's yogurt shakes. They say it's too thick and could stretch your new stomach. I also feel hungry, but drink my protein shakes, eat sugar free popsicles and jello and drink broth. It's not been easy and I was so hungry last night that I probably could have cheated by eating yogurt. I feel for you but hopefully we only have 3 more days to go till next phase of diet.:smile2:

    Outpatient vs. Inpatient

I wasn't given a choice and the only reason they told me that I would be inpatient was if they couldn't do the procedure lap. and would have to open me up. Definetely coming home was better. Banded September 24, 2009
  22. momamia

    just got banded

I also just got banded on Sept 24th and I also had lots of gas. Walking does help get rid of it, but try using a heating pad on your stomach and it also helps. This has been a life saver and I do feel not as blotted today, but it still early.
  23. momamia

    how long!!!!!

I am also post op 3 days and yes I am experiencing the same pain. My nurse told me to put a heating pad on my stomach and that does help. Think about it they do it for babies. I also am having trouble drinking that much water. I am having hunger pains and it's driving me nuts. I drink my broth and eat s.f. jello, but that only last a little while. I also thought what did I do to my self because two weeks of not eating is hard. I finally last night was able to sleep on my side, and I use the pillow behind my back to support my stomach. I hope these two weeks goes by fast cause I'm tired of feeling like crap.
  24. My surgery is scheduled for Sept 24 and I'm on my pre op diet. I am having second thoughts about this whole thing. Anybody else feel this way? I am thinking what am I doing to myself and what my life will be like? It keeps me up at night because I'm scared of what I will have to endure and what I am giving up. How is this going to affect me and me trying to have a normal life. Sometimes I think that I could have done something different like a diet because I really only have to lose 65 pounds to lose. I've tried diets for several years and I not successful because I'm a diabetic:confused:. I've been on diets for several years and can't keep it off. This is my reason for going this route. Please help if anyone else feels this way.
  25. My surgery is scheduled for September 24th and they have given me my list of liquid diets for the different phases. They has told me that you really won't be hungry after the surgery and you really don't want to eat. I'm curious about the second week, because it just a thicker liquid diet. Will that hungry feeling come back? Any suggestions ?
