  1. My sister came over to help me mesure today. I have to say I was amazed that I am down 8 1/4 inches in 2 weeks! That is sure a great feeling! Oh and to get on a normal scale and weigh myself what a wonderful feeling!
  2. I know I am older than you but if you ever need someone to talk to please feel free to send me a email. I want to also tell you that I have lost a few of my friends that I thought would always be there for me. I guess they just could not handle the fact that I would be diffrent..I am not sure. It was hard but I have made new friends and got in touch with old friends from school. I have not told everyone what I have done. Its a personal choice really. Don't be scared this will be a new chapter in your life:biggrin: its one of the best things I have ever done for myself. Keep us updated on how it goes.
  3. Oh boy ladies wish I could eat..lol I have no hunger what so ever. I have to force myself to eat a little cottage cheese in the afternoons. I drink water LOTS OF WATER. I am so thirsty and in the mornings I FEEL like I have walked 40 miles..its crazy! Talk about dry mouth! YUCK..But the more water I drink the better I feel. I also love tea with no sugar. I love tuna salad with a boiled egg in it. I only have 1/2 cup and I am stuffed! Its wonderful! I love my band!
  4. Hello, Glad your doing well. I didn't even think about posting the day of my surgery. But I did have a hernia removed. So I was pretty tired. I also did not do the swallow thing. I guess I never asked if that was normal or not. I am doing fine, have no problems. Every doctor is diffrent. Get your rest, I found that to be very important.
  5. Its going to be so worth it! Wait and see. After I had surgery I didnt even want to eat. I sipped offten because my mouth was really dry. I am so happy I did this. I would do it again too. Sorry about the straw..but its not so bad. Wishing you well. Kinda sad that people in that room acted like they didnt want to be there. This is one of the best things I have EVER done for myself!
  6. So glad to hear someone else had a feeling of a little bone or hair stuck in the back of your Throat. I have found that it only happens when I don't get in enough water. When I wake up in the mornings my band feels very tight too. I am not sure if it is because I sleep on my side or not. I find drinking more water helps it go away. I had my first fill on Friday and I can tell a big diffrence. Love this site :crying:
  7. Everyone is diffrent. I also had a hernia removed so it was longer for me. I had a really hard time when I got my first fill the other day. He could not hit the port. Yikes..Well as far as exercise..I walk not as far as I could before surgery. I tried to walk a mile the other day and thought I would die when I was done. My doctor said to try and let my body heal more. So I just walk around the block a couple times. Doctor knows best, good luck.
  8. My first fill I thought I was going to DIE..My doctor could not find my port and stabbed me many times with no pain meds. Next day I had to meet him at the image center to do it again. This time I asked for pain meds before I even let him touch me. He was very nice about it. And it helped so much. Just ask your doctor. Why should you be in pain?
  9. I had the same problem. It hurt to take a deep breath. I had to use that lovely machine every hour. It helped me. I also walked every hour. Even if it was just around the house one time. Walking helps so much. I hope you feel better soon. Stay strong you can do this :tongue2:
  10. :cool2: I seen the Needle...let me tell you its way too big! My doctor is great. He gave me local and also pain meds for home. I am ready for a nap now.
  11. Well the doctor gave me a local today. It was numb didn't feel anything but some pressure. I have 4ccs in my band. It took a few pokes but he got it. Wow what a relief..:cool2:
  12. I am going to ask for pain meds first. Thanks for the tip. I am just here waiting on the doctor to call and tell me what time to meet him today. I am so sore from yesterday I hope he give me something to numb it this time. I won't let him do it if he don't. I can't wait to get this weight off and the next time it won't be this hard. Thanks for the response.
  13. You need to make sure and follow what your doctor tells you to do.All doctors are diffrent. I also could not have pudding that soon. I only had liquids for 3weeks after surgery. On week 3 I started soft foods. Like eggs and cottage cheese. I wish you well. I went to the doctor yesterday and am down 43 pounds. Feeling great. It will get easier I promise..It was real hard for me at first too.
  14. I went in to the doctor for my first fill. Let me tell you that big needle freaked me out. The bad part he could not get it! Most of my weight is in the front so it made it hard. I cried when I left it hurt so bad and he stuck me over and over. Today I am going in again to get a fill and they are using an xray machine. I am praying it goes well. Anyone else have this problem?
  15. Ok My surgery Day June 26 at 1030am. I was not too nervous when I went in. I have been waiting for this for awhile now. They gave me a nice shot to make me feel good and then moved me to the or..they had me on some kind of matress that filled with air and they just slide you over on the table, thought that was cool. Woke up to a nurse asking me to take a deep breath..you kidding me..ouch! She finally moved me to my own private room where my family was there waiting for me. I was very sleepy. Later I went for a walk, and when I got up I thought my stomach was going to rip open where my port was placed. That feeling did not go away for about a week..(use a pillow to get up it takes that pain away) So I had a hernia that the doctor fixed that ment I had to stay two days in the hosptial. The first night was really bad. She woke me every hour to check my vitals..Oh man was I tired. The next day she let me sleep more which was nice. But the pain in my left shoulder felt as if someone was going to rip my arm off.( AND GASX DID NOT HELP) I used a heating pad and it helped to take the pain away fast. My shoulder pain was worse than my stomach pain. I did walk offten. It helped some but I was very tired and would get dizzy. Almost passed out in the hospital shower too. Had to pull the nurse cord..oh how embarssing..lol She gave me a shot that made that feeling go away. I finally got to go home on Sunday afternoon. I was really scared to get into my bed because I didn't want it to hurt. So I just layed in my lazyboy for the day. My sister brought me lots of pillows for my bed to use. There is nothing like being at home when your hurtting. Walking is very important just remember to use a pillow on your stomach when you get up. Now I am on soft foods thank god. I will never eat jello again in my life. I was not hungry at all until now. I am starting to feel hungry. I will go in on the 23rd to get my first fill. I am down 40 pounds. I almost had a heart attack when I got on that scale. Would I do this again? Heck yes I would its all going to be worth it! Make sure to take your pain meds on time, dont wait for the pain to set in. I set my alarm at night so I would not miss it. I think having a hernia made it a little harder on me. But so glad for this lifestyle change! Good Luck Everyone!
  16. Well they took my blood did an ekg and said everything looks good. I also got on the scale for the first time in a month and am down 20 pounds..WOW It felt good. I go in on Friday June 26th at 9:00am. I talked to all the people I will be seeing in the Or that day. Nice to meet them before hand. The excitment I feel takes away the nervous feelings I have. I am so ready to get this done. Have a great weekend everyone.

I feel good. I am going in to get my band on June 26th..they said you must really want this because most people gain weight before this surgery. I was so happy. The Liquid diet does not even bother me anymore I have to force myself to eat now. Have a good weekend everyone.

  21. Today is my frist day on this preop diet..I am a little freaked out but doing fine so far. I can have two slimfast drinks and one very small meal a day. I don't plan to cheat or even feel like I have to cheat. This surgery means to much to me to throw it away to eat something that don't help me get to my goals. This is a lifestyle change not a magic band..lol:lol:
  22. You will be in my thoughts today. From the posts that I have read here I think staying in the hospital over night is a good thing..Well that depends on how good your hospital staff is. Here in my town they are great. I want to stay in the hospital overnight. Last time I had surgery I was so sick and didn't even know what day it was. They were pushing me out the door to go home. I never want to feel that way again. My surgery is on June 26th. I can't wait.
  23. You are right about every doctor being diffrent. I was reading the surgery day posts and am still not done reading them yet. I have my shakes:rolleyes: special K has a new drink they just came out with. I am going to take this one step at a time and not let myself freak out..lol. I got the gas-x. I also got the chapstick and bottles of water. I love reading posts on here. It sure helps me to get ready for this life change I am about to make :tongue2:
  24. I am getting real nervous as the surgery date gets closer. I have already made so many lifestyle changes to prepair myself mentally for this. I stopped drinking diet pop and that was very hard to do. I drink water and tea. I am looking for some info on the things I must have after I get home from the hospital..Please if anyone could help me out. I need to know about what brands of food are best. Other stuff too. Please..I will be waiting for your help.
