I saw Dr Illan prior to surgery and never again. I have since emailed him 2ith questions and have had no response.I'm not sure what to say about most of the issues that you had, because my experience was not the same as yours. I live in Southern CA so I drove down and met my driver at the cell phone lot while she was waiting for another patient to land.
I stayed at the recovery condos and not at the hotel, but I was never charged for any transportation at any point, but I did tip my drivers/valets.
I also did not have the post-op diet talk right away. She went over it with me in the car on the way back to San Diego, but I was fine with that because I was given the packet with the guidelines the day I got to the recovery condos.
As far as my registration and post count, yes I made an account to reply to this post. I generally tend to lurk on forums and I have been reading posts here for the past few months but never signed up. I joined the Bariatric Pal Facebook groups and prefer to post there instead. I used my real picture (same as my FB profile), and not a random avatar or meme, so I'm not sure why you'd jump to that conclusion other than paranoia.
I'm truly sorry that you were unhappy with your experiences with BP. I felt very well cared for while I was there. My only complaint was that I barely saw Dr. Illan at all.

I went by myself and honestly glad I did. The staff will take wonderful care of you and you don't have to worry about the comfort or boredom of a guest.

HI I just had surgery with Dr Illan in tiajuana with your exact measurements I had an excellent experience and I go home tomorrow.Hi
I too have low BMI (32) but do not have any of comorbidities mentioned. I have rheumatoid arthritis and extra weight makes it hard some days to move around. I hoping with VSG and loss of 60 lbs, the strain of extra weight on bones will help. I am 5'7" at 207 still researching drs and hoping for November date. No nastiness given and hopefully not received, I wish you the best on your new success and I am looking forward to mine. Keep me posted on your progress, also who is everyone using for procedure?

I don't think @@Pinkberry2 was trying to be mean or rude... i wasnt replying in a harsh tone.
But i thought i would explain my side of the story, because it is never as simple as just "trying" for some.
And to be honest, when i had my band removed the surgeon asked if i wanted to be converted to the sleeve, i declined as i thought it was way to drastic for my size...
Fast forward 12 months.. something needed to be done.. i was gaining rapidly, my knees hurt, working out became harder, all the weight related aches and pains started to return, my insulin resistance was starting to come back... and a host of other issues... so i realised that i needed to do something now...
Before....
My elevated insulin turned into diabetes
My sore knees turned into arthritis
My normal blood pressure turned into high blood pressure
THIS is why i did it, as a preventative measure, the slim part is only a bonus (mind you, i am one of the lucky ones who was a size 14 at 200lbs, muscular frame)
My thinking was, well you service your car so it doesn't break down, why would you not service your body?
I told many people...I dare them to mouth off at me! Lol I'm a lot bigger than most and in this pre op liquid diet kinda cranky!I am 5'3". 205lbs. I am self pay gastric sleeve. Aug 15th. I lost 96 pounds on my own 4 years ago. But since put back on 60. I don't see how it is any different for me and o lose 100 as a heavier person to lose 100? My husband is the only one that knows about surgery because I fear others think it's the easy way out too. Why can't I just eat less and go to the gym. Many other regular weight people eat like I do and don't go tongue gym. But also don't gain weight. Everyone is different.
