    Donated blood since being banded...Help!

I really think it would be in your best interest to at the very least find out WHY you've been told not to donate blood before making the decision to go ahead and do it. Maybe there is some specific reason he/she doesn't want YOU to, and possibly they don't tell everyone that. Knowledge is power.

LMAO. It's not even spelled right. I'm pretty sure it was still Avon Lady yesterday. So today she changes it to "sucess story", and the same day posts a thread about how badly she wants to go on an eating binge due to life circumstances. Puh-leeze.

    Donated blood since being banded...Help!

I've never heard that, either. What's the reasoning?

    Band Friendly Med!!!

GROSS. I bought some of those chewables before surgery to have on hand, and I couldn't even force myself to swallow the darn stuff. I used the liquid which is equally nasty right after surgery, and since then, I've been able (knock on wood) to take the Tylenol Extra Strength EZ Tabs. They're smaller than regular Tylenol, and go down easy.

    Worst dieting experience EVER...

LOL! RIGHT! 3 ounces of meat in one sitting is too precious to snort out one's nose... Please don't...

    Worst dieting experience EVER...

You can test yourself by getting some Ketostix. They're available from any pharmacy, sometimes OTC, sometimes you have to ask for them, but you pee on a strip and if it turns purple, you're in ketosis. If not, you aren't. I still think your nutritionist is on crack. The same thing can be accomplished by going very low carb without starving yourself. At least it's almost over. Hang in there! You've come this far, you can do it! Oh, and a LITTLE bit of cream (as long as it wasn't sweetened) one time won't affect the test, I don't think.

    Donated blood since being banded...Help!

Ummm... I don't know why, unless your doc doesn't want you to become anemic, but still, if you're healthy, and get in enough Protein and nutrients, I simply cannot imagine why you can't donate blood. Before you cancel, call your doc and ask for an explanation. And then come back and let us know what their reasoning is.

    Ear ache

I haven't had this happen to me, but it makes sense. If I get an earache, it can make my throat hurt. So if you've eaten too much, or have something stuck, it might be transferred pain from your stoma. Try slowing down to make sure that you aren't eating too much. And instead of trying for a feeling of "full" look for a feeling of "no longer hungry". Hope this helps!

Wow, I've never heard of such a thing. How long do you have to do this? Sounds like your nutritionist is a nut-job. I hope you are able to stick it out, if only to prove to YOURSELF that you can do it.

    SUPER SORE after a fill

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt and burned it. My last fill SUCKED. He dug and dug with the needle until I couldn't take it anymore, so he pulled out the needle, gave me a bit of a breather (he has me do a crunch while he's doing the fill for easier access to the port), and on the second stick, it went right in. I've been a big baby about it since then, and have been putting off another fill, which I think is now overdue.
  13. My worst public PB was a very violent episode that hit me really fast. DH & I were in Dallas at a conference, and afterward, we were having dinner in the hotel restaurant. I ordered some kind of chicken. We were talking with some new aquaintences, and I was, I thought, taking my time and chewing well, but I guess I wasn't, because all of a sudden, I was stuck as hell, and the pressure was building like a volcano. There was no restroom in the restaurant, so I had to literally RUN through the restaurant, and across the hotel lobby to the nearest bathroom, and when I vomited, it was so violent that my eyes were all bloodshot, and it looked like I'd been crying. It was AWFUL. At least there was no one else in the bathroom, and I was able to put myself back together a bit before returning to the table.

    Countdown to last adjustment-UNFILL

I would NEVER get unfilled for a vacation. That's when I need my band the MOST!!!

I think my band has got to go.....

I have to agree on this point, having a band placed that is that tight with no fill is very uncommon. Most people experience some post-op swelling that provides a bit of restriction, sometimes even to the point of being way too tight, but this usually resolves within a couple of days, and then it's basically NO restriction until you begin getting fills. At 7 weeks with no fill, (with a few exceptions, Jack comes to mind, he went 6 months without a fill, I think, and had good restriction. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong on that point) most of us are STARVING, and have no restriction at all.

    restriction 3 weeks post op?

You know, I think this is exactly the right attitude to have. Good for you, Denise!

BBK, not shitting them, sliming them up in the sink. Which is a very textbook case, you can be assured. Laurend, you pissed me off, but only in the sense that I was already pissed of, and taking the same stand as you. I think it's bullshit for anyone to dog anyone for wanting to be a healthy weight. Chickie, YAY!!! I love me some pink ponies!

Dammit, I know this is rants and raves, but I just can't say what I want to say without attacking the person and not her ideas. So I'll refrain, but it's so hard. Chickie, I can only think of two... I guess I need to pay more attention. Babygrl, did you catch "Don't forget the lyrics" tonight???? I know how much you heart REO Speedwagon...

I was JUST having that conversation with Boo Boo Kitty... I was wondering how some newbies here ever survive with the crap advice spewing out of the asses of a choice few people. 2 spring to mind right away.

This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!

And even more disturbing, they have a smiley that depicts little smileys in an elevator, one of them lets one rip, everyone else falls over dead. Cute, but VERY disturbing.
