    December Bandsters 2009

Dottie, you will remain in my prayers. I am so glad that you aren't hungry. I find that when I am in the habit of not eating much, I can stay there as long as I stay away from my trigger foods.
  3. you know, you don't have to be such a drama queen. you passed judgment all over the place. pot kettle black. eta: Your husband wanted to post anonymously for what reason? I can't think of any good one. Anyway you look at it, it is dishonest. My husband knows I can fight my own battles. There is no way he would think i need rescued from some mean old msg boarders.

    Some perspective

I know. I wore a 26 after my son was born, and that was at 250. At my highest 12 months ago I was wearing a 28.
  5. I would agree, perhaps, until you get to the part where her "husband" posted, not as a loving husband, but a supposed anonymous poster. Unless you are willing to say that that her partner didn't know she was a she. At that point she appears to be trolling for trouble. I have said all along it can be an interesting conversation. But calling people "sheep" if they follow their doc's suggestions was uncalled for. As were some of the judgmental posts by the "other" side. People aren't going to agree on issues, as you well know.:bored: But decency sure helps. If one cannot deal with disagreement, a msg board is only going to cause grief. They take a thick skin.

    Get a Bodybugg!

thanks, bt. I am so not a technology person. It still all seems like magic to me, pathetic as it is. I appreciate you highlighting the easy to "get" thing for me!

    Get a Bodybugg!

I knew i must be missing something! Thank you. That sounds really useful.

    Get a Bodybugg!

So, how does it measure activity? do you have to input that also? It seems like far too much work when you can just write stuff down for free. Or am I missing something? (highly possible)

    Ceiling on BMI??

Don't give up. You can personally lower it, or look for another surgeon. You have options. Good luck!
  10. Well, if you need everyone to agree, it probably isn't safe enough for you. If you throw out questions or opinions people are going to offer theirs. That is the way of the msg. board. Different isn't bad. It is just different.
  11. lol, so your husband doesn't know whether you are a he or she? A chivalrous husband would have said who he was, imo. edited because I had to make DH's breakfast! Anyway, I agree with Jackie. It can be an interesting discussion. It would be nice if it could be had without the attitudes, but those happen when people are passionate. Savvy, if you really are one of us, join the crowd. It is ok to have opinions that are different, however, treating people poorly when they post answers you don't like isn't any cooler than the judgments you are claiming others have made. just my opinion. If you are just someone who discovered a new place to troll, then you have issues that can't be dealt with in a paragraph.
  12. Man, i miss all the fun.

    Post Surgery Relationship Break ups

divorce rate are high anyway. the friend may just be scared or concerned for you. not everyone who says something negative is "jealous" no matter what our moms told us when we were young!

    I am a CHEATER

my band was stitched in also. OP, don't sweat the soup, but try to remember the healing process. Just like you wouldn't go against the surgeon's recommendation for showers, or activity these instructions are for healing on the inside.

    any tips??

sugar free popsicles, or I save the 40 calories for a sf fudgesicle. a big old glass of Water, flavored or not helps me, also. I always keep some portioned out bags of Snacks around. I keep them at 50 calories, whether they are almonds, Cereal, etc. If you have kids they are great for bag filling! I also take a few deep breathes and a few moments to think. It helps with several of my bad habits!
  16. Asking questions or stating opinions is not encouraging anyone to do anything. If someone is stupid enough to read one post from a stranger on a message board and copy their behavior, they deserve whatever they get. BT, i have yo yo'ed too, but it has almost always been on the advice of the medical field or other expert. I agree with Jackie. I would never live a life dependant upon Protein drinks every day. I eat well rounded whole foods and have for 20 years. My weight came from a whacked out thyroid my first pregnancy. It took that awesome, we gotta trust em' medical field, 10 years to diagnose and treat it, and that was only after I went in to yet another doc and demanded the test. The nurse had the gall to pat me on the hand and say "it would be nice if all that weight could be blamed on your thyroid dear." I don't take anything the medical field says as gospel. There are docs out there who use dangerous unhealthy means to claim "the best results." Ethics in this field suck. Money is the object. Anytime money is the object I question everything, study on my own, and make my decisions. Whether the OP was trolling for trouble, or just curious about the choices of others is not in itself a problem in my book. It isn't worth nasty, rude, snobbish, or the elite attitudes shown. It is about conversation. No more, no less. Had a friend asked the same, would you all have responded in the same manner? i have to add that some of the people with whom I am disagreeing with in this particular thread are some of the people i usually agree with most. I think that you, Betsy give some of the best common sense advice around. It is like the real world. I don't know anyone I agree with 100%, and wouldn't really want too!
  17. Not everyone has the choice of doctors, and suggesting someone take a pill is as rude as calling people sheep. Making our own choices based on our own bodies is how some of us are losing weight. On the docs suggested 1200 calorie diet I would gain. As I said, he is the best surgeon for anything around here. He is by no means a weight loss expert, however. He is the first to say so. I was more concerned with not dying during surgery or being mutilated, lol.

    Upset

You are right, it will. I was seriously bummed when i had to deal with the delays. but now i can look back and say that it was fine. a month or two is nothing in the big picture.

    wondering??

You can pay it forward even without working through the bugs. You have your own individual experience that can be a blessing. I am just kind of average but I can share what helps me. Kwim? It may help or may not. I didn't mean to sound as harsh as I did, but I just get tired of people not taking reaponsibility for themselves.
  20. Marine mom

    wondering??

I think it is because in life there is that percentage of people who are spoiled, whiny ass, self entitled people, and that is just carried to this board by that group. I don't mean the people who come and say "crap, I hate bandster hell", or those asking for help due to plateaus, but those who are 10 days out and whining because they haven't lost 30 lbs. Or those who think the world should change because they had surgery. Or those who want to blame everyone else for their problems. Just because someone is banded does not make them nice, friendly, helpful friends. And I am not going to play the sweet codependant and tell them that their behavior and attitudes are justified.

    I don't get it.....

dark angel, have you ever had food allergies? a swollen lip was the first sign in 2 of my boys. they came out of nowhere. as far as gaining or losing a pound or two, i do it all the time. TOM, exercise, heat all affect my Water levels. as long as the trend is down i don't worry too much. i hope today is better.

    Losing my mind

I would suggest shaking things up. eat 800 calories one day and 1200 the next. whenever i stall, i find it is because i have fallen into an exercise and diet rut.
  23. Marine mom

    Upset

i would think that changing surgeons would add a ton of time. My 6 months turned to 9 months due to different delays by the pros. I survived. There is nothing to keep you from eating well until then. life doesn't start with surgery.
  24. it does. Not on "one side" or another "side", however. No one gets there without determining to make changes in their lives, and taking responsibility, either by rule following or personal study, for their choices.
