  1. I use Centrum Chewables instead...not bad tasting. Also Oscal Chewables for a calcium supplement...not bad either. Some use Viative chewables for calcium and vitamins, but the Centrum and Oscal is less expensive and I don't mind the taste. You may want to give it a try. Wally world carries it as do alot of pharmacies.

    First fills

I had my first fill May 9th. 2 1/2 cc's...but I couldn't get Water down, felt like it was stuck in my throat, so they backed out a 1/2 cc, now down to 2. I can't say that I have been full, but I ate only liquids and soft food that day. I am so paranoid about PBing and vomiting that I really haven't let myself get "full". But I get to a stage where I'm not hungry and not full. Maybe after a few more days I'll eat until I'm full and see how much. Good luck to everyone and don't be anxious about your first fill, it's a piece of cake. :frown:
  3. Does anybody has any ideas on how to get rid of the gas pain in my left shoulder? I can handle the tenderness around my port incision, but this shoulder pain is tough. I've used heating pads, Gas-X chewables, Motrin, walking, and sleeping on my left side to get rid of the pain, but it really isn't getting much better. Any other ideas?

What Protein Supplement do you Prefer?

I use the unjury powder...either chocolate or vanilla. I rarely mix them with skim milk, but add a scoop to an Atkins vanilla shake and 2 tbsp of Peanut Butter and throw it back in the frig for 45 minutes or so. Yum!! Approx. 42 grams of protein! Sometimes throw in a banana and skim milk on top of that, but the calories start to add up. I also bought (on the advice of Eggface (blogger), some Max Protein, but have yet to try it. I'm going to make some protein ice cream tonight. I have a Magic Bullet, but was watching QVC last night and they have a knockoff Chef Essentials brand for around $28.00 with almost all the accessories you get with the Bullet. For shakes, a Bullet-type blender is great! FYI, for some great recipes, I found that the blogger Eggface has some great ones. You can find her at: theworldaccordingtoeggface. Even though she isn't a bandster, she has had weight loss surgery and has some amazing healthy recipes.

    First fills

I have my first fill May 9th (surgery April 10th). I've been on solid food since last friday and am able to eat 10-12 oz of food before I'm full. I was told that this week of being on solid foods with no restriction that it is very common to gain weight  and don't be too concerned if I do...it was more important for them to get an accurate idea of how much I'm able to eat in one sitting than to try and lose weight. So, I'm am enjoying my last week without restriction, but looking forward to a more consistent weight loss. We're on our way Bunnies!!!
  6. If you are talking West Chester, OH, I was banded April 10th and have until friday to start incorporating some solid food. Can't wait! If you are self-pay, everything will probably happen pretty quick. It took less than 1 month from the time of my initial consult to surgery. Where ever you go, the best of luck to you!

    Port Area numb?

Hi Big Mama - I too recently had surgery and my port area is very sore. I was trying to get out of bed without disturbing the cat (what?), and felt a really sharp pain. Since then, it's been pretty sore now for about a week. I'm hoping everything is okay, and the nurse didn't seem to concerned about it at post-op so I kind of know what you mean. Sometimes its better than others.
  8. I was banded on 04/10/09 and went to my post-op today at Cincy Weight Loss. I am very pleased with the center and the instructions and care you receive stress the importance of the procedure AND follow-up. Along with the importance of having support which they provide. I was a self-pay patient and to me, I wasn't going for the cheapest place to get it done, I was going for the best in care and follow-up. The people at University Pointe Surgical Center are very professional and I was given alot of attention by the physician, the anesthesiologist and the nurses who seemed to go out of their way to make sure my visit was comfortable. I received a follow-up call that evening from Dr. Watkins, and another the next day from the hospital to make sure I was doing well and to see if I had any questions. Best of luck on your procedure and please don't stress about going to Cincy Weight Loss, you did make a good choice.
  9. I'm about 40 miles north of Dayton, banded in West Chester on 04/10/09.
  10. Hi all - I'm from a small town about 40-50 miles north of Dayton and was banded just this month! After almost 2 weeks, I'm feeling much better! I was the chronic yo-yo dieter since college and have no idea what my "ideal" weight is...since I never stayed at any particular weight for any length of time. My sister just had it on March 31st where she lives and so we are kind of going thru this together. I'm pretty new to the forum and I'm looking for this to be a great support feature on my journey. I'm glad to see so many Buckeyes on the forum!

    April Bandsters, anyone?

Best of Luck Jimbo! Hope your surgery goes well and you bounce back quick!
  12. Kimber - I was banded on the 10th too and still have the gas pain in my shoulder something fierce. Most of the bloating in my abdomen is gone but still very tender. As you probably know...walk, walk, walk. Or at the very least, keep moving around. I find I feel better when I'm moving around. I spent 6 hours in a car Saturday and by then my shoulder was screaming. So please don't sit around...it will just take longer to dissipate.
  13. Very well said...I myself have been on a life rollercoaster and decided it was time to take charge and do something about it. I am a self-pay patient who has lost in my estimate around 350 lbs in my life and gained them all back. It will take me a long time to pay for the surgery, but it is really an incentive to stay the course and get healthier. My sister had surgery 10 days before I did where she lives and so we are in this together. I'm glad I found lapbandtalk and that so many of us can share our experiences. It's nice to know where not on our own.
  14. Hey Hopeful - I'm 5'7" too and I chose 150. I figure I'm medium build and was 164 about 6 1/2 years ago and felt I would have looked better at 150. Seems we have similar numbers and hopefully equally as good results. Best of luck!
  15. Hi all April Bandsters! Surgery date was 04/10/09. Feeling much better after 6 days and looking forward to the "mushies" after 3 weeks of liquid dieting! It's great to see so many of us!

    April Bandsters, anyone?

I had my surgery April 10th. So far so good. As far as last meal...just don't go overboard, you pay for it by being even hungrier the next morning! Good luck and Hi to all April 09 Bandsters!

    chest pain

Hey PB - Just had my surgery April 10th and started having chest pains the last 2 days. I've been fighting the gas pains since surgery in both shoulders and upper chest, now it's just the left shoulder and left chest area. I'm expected it to go away in a day or two. I really just think moving as much as you can will help. :rolleyes2:
