That sounds like a good idea. I should have tried something like that beforehand. The liquid diet is crazy hard. I had massive headaches both weeks. But by that Thursday before my Monday surgery, I had finally gotten used to it and those last few days were not hard at all. Good luck to you. It's all worth it in the end. I can't wait to start seeing the changes.

I'm feeling much better. The days 1-4 after you get home from the hospital is the same clear liquid diet I posted above. The next days 5-14 is the same full liquid diet I posted above. Days 15-28 is puréed. Days 29-43 are a soft diet. After 6 weeks you can go to a regular diet. But to tell you the truth I'm not really eating yet. It just too hard right now. I can't get the Protein in either. The nurse said it was fine for right now as long as I'm getting the liquids in. I'm not hungry at all and when I try to eat something it just hurts too bad. I'm also having heart burn like crazy. I have an appt with Dr. Carroll tomorrow and hopefully he can prescribe me something that May can help eating be easier.Jackie,
Thanks. How have you been feeling? I hope your 1st week has been pretty good. What is the post-op diet like?

Yes, he's really nice. He's straight to the point, no playing around!Jackie, did you like Dr. Carroll? I have not actually met him yet. I like all the other staff at transformations.

I could have gone home Tuesday, but I just wasn't ready. I was too nauseated and in too much pain. I was scared to try and make it on my own with just the liquid Loracet, like I said it does nothing for the pain!Jackie glad u r home. Why did you have to stay 2 days instead of just one? I had my phase 2 tests today. Somehow I think that will be the easiest part of all of this. Hope you are able to get some rest tonight! Take care!

Finally got to come home today. I was supossed to be at the hospital at 11 on Monday, but Mary from Transformations called me a little after 8 wanting to know if I could get to the hospital ASAP. She said Dr. Carroll wanted to get started early that day. As soon as I got to the hospital, they were on it. I got dressed quickly and was moved to the holding area within an hour. They gave me some medicine and told me I wouldn't remember much after that, and I don't. I woke up in recovery very nauseated and in a lot of pain. They gave me phenegrin and diladid right away and I started feeling better. The leak test was absolutely horrible. My suggestion is to get pain meds and nausea meds every time you are allowed. Don't wait until it starts to hurt. I had no idea it would be this painful. I hope I will be able to get some sleep tonight with as little pain as possible. The liquid Loracet doesn't seem to ease the pain at all.

Oh no, that's horrible you had to wait all day long! They told me that I'm Dr. Carroll's 2nd case of the day since I had a lower BMI than the 1st person. They told me to be at the hospital at 11 on Monday, hopefully it won't be much longer after that for my surgery. I hope you get to feeling better soon! Thanks for the well-wishes this week. I'm still really tired. They told me to be at the hospital at 6:30 for an 8:30 surgery on Monday morning. I got there at 6:17. We waited and waited and waited. It was after 5:00 PM before they took me to OR holding. I didn't have surgery until 6:00 or 7:00 pm and I didnt get to a room until nearly 10:00. I would definitely advise you to have someone stay with you at night. A lady from my Sunday school class stayed with me and if she hadn't, I don't know what I would have done. I had chest pains and they had to do an EKG and blood work in the middle of the night. I couldn't get comfortable. The catheter that I was dreading turned out to be a good thing because I wouldn't have been able to get out of bed to go to the bathroom on my own. They determined the chest pains were from too much Fluid. I was nauseated and dry heaving from the minute they tried to wake me up in recovery. I had a very hard time waking up and I was trying to tell them I was hurting and nauseated. The first few days were rough. I also weighed 8 pounds more when I got home from the hospital than when I left for the hospital. But that's gone now. They told me in OR holding that had me scheduled for 7:30 that morning and they'd all been there all day waiting for Dr. Cummins to get there from the Baptist hospital.

On no! I'm so sorry!Looks like my surgery date is moving. I don't have any details yet. I think my heart has shattered into a million pieces. Looking at the first of January now. Worse day of my life is today.

That's great! It will fly by now!Just heard from Paige !! I'm approved! Phase 2 testing tomorrow morning at 9! I asked her about using river oaks. She said that the information I received was incorrect and I had to use cmmc unless I had another insurance. I'm ok with that now. I've come too far to turn around. So I should have a date by the end of the week!!! If I could do backflips it would right now!

Good luck extracat ???? hope everything goes smoothly!

That's good. They didn't give me an option. When I walked in the nutritional classes, they had all my paperwork laid out for me to sign and everything had CMMC on it. Same thing with 2 of my co-workers. I guess they got some things worked out with BCBS...that's good. It was getting ugly there for a while.I spoke directly to our insurance company on Monday. The rep said river oaks was recently added to the list for surgery approval. This came up when she asked me if I was having it at river oaks. I told her I thought cmmc was the only option, she said not anymore.

Crissy, I'm not for sure but in the nutritional classes, they mentioned that she doesn't have her patients do the 2 week liquid diet, but that she does require one day liquids the day before and a bowel prep. If I remember correctly, she has her patients do like Protein Shakes 2-3 times a day, and allows one meal each day like lean meat and veggies. You'll find out for sure in the nutritional classes.hi Jackie,, if we don't do the liquid diet what do we have to do?

I'm on the full liquid pre-op diet right now and I'm starving! I have no idea how I'm going to make it on the clear liquid diet next week. For those of y'all that have Dr. Cummings, you don't have the liquid diet! Lucky!!! ???? I have to go for my pre-admissions on the 24th at CMMC. From what I was told, all the BCBS State employees have no choice, we have to have ours at CMMC. 2 of my co-workers had it last month and that is what they were told too!
-
How's your pre-op diet going so far? I'm starving and have had a massive headache all day! No amount of Tylenol can help this!!! I don't know how I'm gonna get thru the next 2 weeks!
-
Yeah, sounds great. I start my pre-op diet next Monday on the 16th. Not looking forward to it!
-
You too Masf1220!

Thanks Masf1220, I'm from Mississippi.

That's exactly where I heard it from too! I brought that flyer to work with me the next day to show several of my co-workers, and 2 of my co-workers have already had their surgeries! I'm originally from Columbus, but living in Pearl. I graduated from MSU in 2005. I work for the Division of Medicaid.

I have BCBS thru the State. I had to do 6 months with a health coach thru Active Health first. I started in January bc that's when my insurance started paying for it. I went to the seminar in April and followed the timeline they gave me for getting approved (letter from PCP, initial visit with the NP, psychiatric eval, etc). I found out I was approved in July. It did not take long at all to get approved. They make sure everything is in order before they will submit it. I think it took 3 days for my approval.
