    Ground beef vs Ground turkey

    I am very lucky i was raised on deer meat. My husband is a deer hunter and always shots about two deer per year. I haven't bought ground beef in 10 years since i have been married to him. Ground deer has less calories and fat then ground turkey or ground beef. Now ground turkey breast might be less. We do eat it staight up we do not mix it with pork or beef we are so used to the wild game taste. some people do mix it because they don't like the wild taste but after so many years you don't taste it anymore ground deer 3 oz 159 calories 7 grams of fat
  2. So i have been going to the gym for about 6 months now and was starting to get tired of the same old same old. Well the step machine always used to scare me i would always see these young skinny girls sweating to death on these machines so i never tried it. Well i decided to give it a try i said to myself even if i do 5 mins on this machine it is still trying something new. Well i got on that machine and did 40 mins burned 560 calories just in 40 mins. I felt like i got the best workout of my life. I am not saying that it was easy but wow what a workout I even did 20 more mins on the treadmill for a grand total of 740 calories in one hr at the gym i have never burned this many calories.
  3. Thanks everyone for your responses. It's just that it gets so frustrating when you work so hard and don't see results. I weighed in this moring it is wed and i am down 2.5lbs this week so much better then last week. Your right Jachut our bodies get used to what we do. If any one ever says that Band people have it so easy then they are wrong you have to work at this just like anything else.
  4. ugh!!! i am so frustrated. I mark my weight down once a week wed to wed. Well this week i only losed .7 lbs. Don't get me wrong i am happy with any weight loss but i just don't get it. I count my calories religiously. I write done everything i put in my month. I eat anywhere from 900-1100 calories. So i decided to add up how many calories i eat this past wed to wed. It added to a total of 7600 calories. So if my body needs 2200 calories to maintain my body weight thats a total of 15,400 per week. 15400 calories to maitain -7600 calories eaten That is a 7800 plus the 1500 calories i exercised so that is a total of 9300 calories deficit for the week. Well if there is 3500 calories in a pound. I should have lost a total of 2.6 lbs for the week but i didn't i only lost .7 . I just don't understand this boby of mine. :rolleyes2:
  5. I have Highmark and have a $1250 deductable. Well i had my lapband surgery in may and i had my 1250 deductable billed to me by the hospital so i had already meet my deductable so i never got a bill for a fill since my surgery. Well my new year for my deductable started again on sept30. So i knew any bloodwork or procedures that i would have would be billed to me untill i meet my deductable. So i know that my fill in Oct would be billed to me. So i wasn't surprised when i got my bill. Well i was surprised when i opened it and seen the amont $450 dollars or a FILL. Are you kidding me yes maybe under flouro but and office fill. One needle and some saline that took 2 mins too do cost me $450 dollars. Does anyone think this is really high. I have read many post saying that there fills only cost $200 or less. Do you think i should call and complain and try to get my bill reduced?

    Now that you are losing Weight...

    Love your haircut. I had my hair short like that once and had to grow it out. I am just a long hair girl. I have found myself loving to shop for clothes now that i can wear regular size clothing not plus size. But one of the wierdest thing that i found that i have changed is that i am taking a lot better care of my skin. I used to never use stuff on my face now that i am getting thiner i all of a sudden am worried about looking older.

    Cost of my Fill Wow!!!

    I am sure you are right. They are going to bill the insurance for as much as they can get. Well aleast i will hit my deductable quicker 3 fills and i am done. But wow is this guy making a killing. I forgot to tell everyone that wasn't including my Dr visit the bill read Fill 450 Dr appointment 125 25copay and 100 paid by insurance My doctors appointments don't count towards my deductable so they are paid that is a total of $575 for one visit that my dr is making. Which i think was maybe 10 mins long.

    Is the Lap Band just a placebo?

    I thought that to for a while until i was filled a little to tight and if i didn't chew very well and take really small bits i would be in pain. You will feel it to when you get tight enough. I know my band is there because it reminds me when i take one extra bite past what i am to eat. Don't worry you are doing wonderfull. Also head hunger is very hard my stomach may be full but i still look at my husbands bag of chips and think i am hungry.
  12. I was wondering how to burn more caloreis at the gym. I get an hr of cardio at the gym everyday (thats all the time i have i have a full time job and little ones at home) and the machines are telling me i am only burning 300 calories for that hr. I have read some post saying that some people are burning 8oo calories and hr is this because they are running their a** off. I am doing much better then i did several months ago (i can now do 3.7 and a 2 percent incline on the treadmill when i started i could only do 2.5 no incline) I am now on level 3 on the bike but i am still 225lbs and can't run on the treadmill for more then a few mins. I do 20 mins on three machines every day. Does more calorie burning just come with time as you loose more weight you can go faster and up you levels. I want to be able to get the most out of my work out.

Here is what i do because i have two little ones i have to get ready before i go to work so it has to be quick and i usually eat it at work 1. blue dimond cinnamon brown sugar Almonds i count out 24 almonds for breakfast (160 calories) 2. South beach high protein ceral bar (140 calories 10g of protein) these are in with the ceral bars in the ceral isle. 3. Quaker instant oatmeal weight control i use the hot water out of the work water cooler (160 calories 7g of protein) 4. a slice of cheese and a few slices of turkey (calories depends on the brand of cheese and turkey) 5. egg beaters with some cheese if i am hungry for this i cook them up before i go to bed and just reheat in the morning ( around 140 calories depending on how much cheese you use i get those egg beaters in the single serve cups and they are 60 calories plus the cheese) 6. a cup of tea when i am really tight in the morning or glass of skim milk or a protein shake. I try and stay away from a liquid breakfast i only do this if i am really tight. If i eat a liquid breakfast i am always looking for something to eat before lunch which isn't good. 7. A Big cholate chip cookie JUST KIDDING 8. yogurt (around 100 calories) 9. Cottage cheese and fruit they already come prepacked they are in by the regular cottage cheese (130 calories) I love the strawberry I hope this helps
  14. This thread was about counting calories not how many calories you burn in a day. I know what the bodybug does i am not dumb. YOu can figure out how many calories you body needs to maintain you weight BMR Adult female: 655 + (4.3 x weight in lbs.) + (4.7 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age in years) Step two: In order to incorporate your activity level into your daily caloric needs, do the following calculation to get your Activity Level Number. If you are sedentary : BMR x 20 percent If you are lightly active: BMR x 30 percent If you are moderately active (You exercise about 3-4 days per week.): BMR x 40 percent If you are very active (You exercise intensely 5 or more days per week.): BMR x 50 percent If you are extra active (You do hard labor or are in athletic training, or exercise intensely 5 or more days per week for 3 or more hours per day ): BMR x 60 percent Add your Activity Level Number to your BMR = Daily Caloric Intake (what you would need to maintain you weight) Yes the bodybug is nice to know the amount but acording to its website it is only 90% correct this is from the website "Short periods of time in the day may show calorie values you were not expecting. This may be because the calorie burn for that activity is different to what you were expecting, and the accuracy of the system varies with different activities. Over the whole day the average accuracy remains over 90%." So weather you do the formula or do the bodybugg nothing is exact. The only way you are really going to know how many calories you body needs to maintain is to get you metabolism tested. High end gyms do it and some doctors do it but it does cost. Don't think i am trying to argue btrieger. If the bodybugg works for you then thats great. You still have to count calories with the bodybugg because the bodybugg just gives you how many calories you body burned in one day you still have to subtract how many calories you eat to see you deficit. But not everyone can afford the bodybugg. Am i am just saying that you can still figure out how many calories you body needs to maintain. example of mine the formula gave me a total of 2426.20 calories to maintain my weight so if i only eat 1000 calories a day that means i am -1426.20 calories and if there is 3500 calories in a lb then i am burning 2.8 lb per week.

  16. I agree with you minimeme. The bodybugg is nice but you don't need a fancy item to count calories. All i need is a pen a piece of paper. I read the labels off everything i eat and messure all my food.

    Last week 221.2 this week 219.2 down -2lbs I can taste wonderland i am getting so close only 19 more lbs to go. 7months ago i would never believe that i would ever see my weight start with a one. Now that i am getting so close i could just cry (with joy). I am on such a high right now. I want to be in wonderland by my birthday which is feb 4.
  18. I count calories every day i write down every bite that i put in my month. I think it is what has gotten me to almost a 70lb loss. If i wouldn't write down what i eat then i know i would over eat and not loose weight because there is always ways to eat around you band like slider foods. For me the band is just a tool it helps me stay full and i count calories and exercise to help it out too. I think that sometimes you don't realize how many calories add up and before you know it you have overeating. But counting calories isn't for everyone. This is just how i do it but everyone needs to find their own way to keep on track.

I know this sounds kinda crazy but i had a fill two weeks ago because i was finding my self looking for food between meals i had pretty good rectriction before this fill i had to be very carefull to eat slowly or i would get pain. I had a .25 fill two weeks ago and now it seems like i have hardly any restriction. Is this possiable? Or maybe i just didn't get enough and it didn't make a difference. Is it possiable that when me gave me my fill when he took all the fluid out of my band and then put it back in plus the fill that band isn't as tight. Has anyone had this happen? I have a appointment in two weeks i am going to ask him and get another fill.

  21. My boobies now look like baseballs in tube socks. i lost about 70lbs and i think 50lbs were in my boobies lol. I have always had nice boobies a nice full C and high on my chest. When i started to loose weight i thought that my boobies were the only thing that was going to look good. My stomach is a mess. But they look so bad now but i know that i still have 50lbs to goal and they are going to get worse. I would maybe wait until you are closer to goal or to goal because you don't want to be disappointed because if you get them done before you reach goal then you may not get the results that you want.

    Calories once on solids

    I eat around 1000-1200 a day and i track everything i put in my mouth. I notice that if i get below 900 my weight loss slows but if i keep it up a little around 1100 i tend to lose more.
  23. I have the same feelings i want to make it throught the holiday and lose some weight. WOW 35lbs is a lot of weight to lose in 4 weeks that is 8.75lbs a week which is very unhealthy to lose that much and you have to burn like 30625 calories in one week to lose that much. My goal is 6lbs by christmas. Which is 1.5lbs a week i have been losing more but because of the holidays i know there will be things to temp me.

    Shoulder pain???

    I have shoulder pain about twice a week and i am 6 and 1/2 months being banded. It is not the gas from the surgery after a few days that gas is absorbed. My doctor told me that the tubing that runs from the band to your port rubs on your diaphram which causes pain in your shoulder ( i guess there is a nurve that runs from the diaphram to your shoulder) He told me some people have the pain and some don't because it all depends on the persons body and the way the tubing lies in the body not everyone has it rubing the diaphram. He told me that people that have really bad shoulder pain they take all the fill out of the band causing the band to drop a little on the stomach making the tubing not rub on the diaphram anymore and then they try to refill it slowly. My shoulder pain has gotten better since i have had my last fill i don't know if the last fill moved the band alittle and the tubing no longer is rubing the diaphram anymore but i do feel a lot better now.

    Last week 222.8 This week 221.2 Lost -1.6 Total 63.8 Considering it is TOM for me that isn't bad. This is the first Thanksgiving that i didn't eat to the point i was sick. That is sad to say that i used to eat like that.
