  1. Hello Everyone,

I can relate to many of the things you guys are going through. However, I am really, really glad I did this. It was the best investment ever. I was banded on 10/14 and so far I have lost 33.5 pounds. Gained 3 over the holidays, but they are gone now. My surgeon just gave me my 3rd fill. I am at 5cc on my 10cc band. This might be my sweet spot, as I get full with one bowl of Cereal or 2 scrambled eggs. I am now 191 pounds and can't wait to get out of the 190's for good.

My best wishes to all of you and stay motivated. It really helps me (when I'm feeling lazy) to look at people's pictures on this site...

    Take care everyone!

    Nora

  2. I'm glad you posted this, because I was thinking to myself this morning, how is it that it takes me a week to lose a pound, but yet I gained 3 in 4 days!!!!? It is very frustrating. However, just like you, I need to get back on track this week and get rid of them.

I will have my second fill on January 24. That should help.

Good luck to you and I am glad that you were able to lose it so quickly.

    Nora

  3. Hi everyone! I was banded on 10/14. I have lost 27 pounds so far. Looking forward to that 30 pound mark. got my first fill 2 weeks ago. No I feel more restricted. I am scheduled for a 2nd fill in January. So far, I am losing about 1.5 pounds per week. That is exactly what I expected, so anything over that is a bonus. Still have 47 pounds to go. Although last week I reached the under 200 mark!!! That was so great!

The hardest part is going out at night and not eating. I get really hungry at night. Other than that, I love the band.

    Happy Holidays to All!!!

  4. Hey Oct Bandsters,

I don't have a follow up appt until 11/9. I was banded on 10/19. Besides walking has anyone done any kind of exercise program? Biking, yoga, swimming??? Has anyone's doctor made any recommendations as to how long after surgery you should wait? Right now, I think things are a little too sore but not sure when I should give it a go...

Hi, I was banded 10/14. My doctor said I could do any aerobic exercise, but to be careful because I should not lift anything over 10 pounds for 2 months. However, I am still a little sore, so I am just walking for now. Maybe after 2 more weeks I will feel more comfortable doing some aerobic exercises. Talk to your doctor about it. He/she should be the one to give you advice. If you do things on your own and do not follow his/her instructions, and anything goes wrong, they would say it is your fault for not following their post-op instructions. (Just to be on the safe side).

    Good luck, and congratulations!!! :(

  5. Hi Guys, just a little update.

Glad to see that for the most part everyone is doing well.

The pain is almost gone. (Banded 10/14). I've lost 13 pounds since surgery and today I start the soft diet. Same as many of you, I was not hungry for the most part for the first 10 days. Now I am having a hard time getting all my liquids in. It takes a lot of determination to drink 64oz at this stage. I am really happy with the band now that the pain is gone. It felt soooo good to eat an egg this morning!!!! :-)

    Good luck to all!

  6. I'm 2 days out and I have the same gas problems that you do, belly and sides. I have been doing the puree food (taking my own and making baby food out of it) It hasn't been too bad except for the diet coke I can't have. I still have not had a bowel movement but I will take something tonight if nothing happens. What are you eating and drinking??

Hi, my Drs. have a very strict post-op diet. The first two days was Clear liquids including these Protein drinks. Now I am on a liquid diet for 10 days. That is only Soup (strained), Jello, pudding, yogurt, Protein supplements, liquid Vitamins, Water, juice (all sugar-free). After day 12, I can start adding very few pureed foods like eggs, potatoes, tuna. drinks have to be sugar-free and cafeine-free.

    Good luck!

  7. Hi everyone! I made it 6 days post-op. It seems like this is such a different process for each of us. My scars are healing very quickly and pain-free. I had no problems with eating, drinking, going to the bathroom at all. The only thing that was very hard, was the post-op gas pain. It did not reach my showlders, but it stayed in the belly area and the sides. That was much more painful than I could ever imagine. However, it seems like this is not a problem for most people. I have been able to drink the amounts of Protein supplements and liquids that they want me to drink. Hunger comes and goes, not too much of a problem.

I am glad I did it. So far, I've lost 8 pounds in 6 days. If anyone would like to ask me a question, please feel free to send me a private message.

    Good luck to all!!!!

  8. I had the same issue. Then decided not to tell anyone else. You are the only one that matters. Focus on getting ready for surgery and a healthier you! My surgery is next week and at this point, most people who were not supportive are not saying much. My family is very supportive, but friends and co-workers are already scrutinizing what I am eating... I realized that for many of them it is very hard to understand because they never struggled with weight. So I don't say anything anymore because all we need is positive energy and support. Good luck!

  9. Congrats on your dates!

There's a Low BMI group here on LBT (under 'groups'). We need to support each other as we lightweights certainly have a whole seperate set of issues in this journey (I was just at a 35 BMI when I started looking at this and was 37.7 at the official start...and yes, at almost 5'9" I 'carry it well').

I was lucky to read enough here early on to convince me to tell no one but DH. I need this to be as positive experience as possible and even the comments from all the preop docs and nurses 'You don't look like you need THAT!' were enough to reinforce that decision.

I also had the added burden of having everyone see me lose the weight before (yes, I was starving). I spent 20 years drastically yo-yoing every second of that up or down and it took a toll on my health and my self-esteem. I, like others here, didn't get the LB to lose the weight...I got it to KEEP it off. Best decision I've ever made.

The upside of this is that no one questions my WL now...they've all seen me do it before. The even better part...I've lost 30-40 pounds more times than I can count. I've lost 40-50 pounds at least 4 times before. Today...I reached 60 pounds. The band is the best tool in the world as long as you do your part.

Let others say what they want...when you start to get the results you want it all won't matter! You've finally decided to do this for YOU.

Thank you band! Congratulations on the 60 pounds!!!!! That is great. I can't wait to be able to say that... Thanks for letting us know about the low BMI group. I will look into it. Good luck to all!

  10. wooohoooo.... I am about half way done with my shopping list... I start my pre-op diet monday.

Danyett, Good luck with your pre-op diet. One last step to being banded!!! My doctor does not require a pre-op diet, so I am planning on just cutting down the last 2-3 days... Wow, you are a baker! You must have a lot of will power!!! Good luck with everything!:seeya:

  11. Hi Julian,

I am a very determined person and I took that form to my doctor and waited for it right there... :-) Seriously. Next morning, I took the form to my surgeon's office and I was scheduling my last appointment. That was on Monday. Yesterday I got my surgery date!

I can't tell you what to do, but a little pressure sometimes goes a long way. Some of these doctors office staff are very nice, but some really get on my nerves!

    Good luck!
