  1. Hi, I had something similar happen. My doctor told me that when it is that time of the month it does get tighter, and for me, that is when it seemed to happen just a couple of days prior to them arriving and I had been fine for weeks before that. I was unable to take my tablets and was not able to eat in the mornings. So I basically would have a cuppa in the morning and because it was warm it helped relax the oesophagus, and when it was lunch I was able to eat and keep my food down and then I just would take my tablets later in the evening instead of the morning. I don't know of course if that is where you are at, but that is what happened to me so I hope that helps a little. Otherwise if it doesn't seem to ease as the morning goes and you are unable to get anything down of course see your doctor as soon as possible...

  2. Has anyone missed their period after being banded and were always regular, and with that being said not pregnant? I am down 44pounds and have had a period since being banded but this month I have not, and my pregnancy test was negative. So has anyone else gone through this or know why this could happen? I am making a doctors appointment but was curious as to see what others had gone through...

    Thanks in advance Annie

  3. Hi Mrs Axl Rose, nice to meet you I'm Annie. I myself know how you feel... I was banded on the 11th of May 09 and food be it was my choice of drug so too speak. I have never smoked, drunk alcohol or done anything else. But food has been my addiction. Every waking moment food ruled what I was doing, when and how it was done. I would get to a point where I felt full and just like you said as soon as the full feeling did subside hey let's have something else.. It's just crazy it takes over. Wow and I even had horrible mood swings if i didn't get it when I wanted it...

The thing is we made that important descion to take control of our lives instead of allowing food to continue to control our lives. Which has to be commended. It is not going to be fixed overnight and I do believe we will all have our moment of guilt when our cravings take over...But with saying this we need to pick ourselves up and get back on track. The band is a tool and it is not going to change a life time of bad habits...It will help but we have to work on our mindset and retrain ourselves with the help that the doctors offer us and the advice that they give us to follow. I'm pretty sure know one told me it was going to be easy and I know I've had my slips since being banded, so please know you are not alone in this fight to stay on the straight and narrow. Just pick yourself up and tomorrow is another day to the rest of your life...Don't be afraid to ask for help, and posting on here is great it really does help to be able to vent ask questions or to just read and feel that we are not alone....

    Good luck Annie

  4. We certainly did have the gastric banding....Well that's what we were in for LOL. Here ( in WA,Australia) we don't have our fill until the 4th to 6th week after the op ( that is with Dr Watson). I think it certainly comes down to everyone individually. My husband was exercising like a crazed man by the third day after his op. Not that I recommend that but he felt well enough to do it and good on him I say. I myself had a longer recovery 11 days was for me, where I felt well enough to do much more. We all heal so much differently and we should allow our body's to do so in it's own time.

I think it's great for those who do feel better so much quicker but for some of us well we need to be strong and time will heal....

    All the best to you.

  5. Hi everyone my husband and I were both banded a week apart. He went first and then I went in a week later. We are

both only in the early stages of our journey together, he at nearly 3 weeks post op and I nearly 2. I can't imagine doing it any other way than together we really have a great support team between us.

It certainly is a different road that we both travel he is finding things really easy :lol:with very few problems I on the other hand am having to do things a little harder :). But that's ok the results are already showing for both of us and we are their for each other no matter what.

I too would love to hear how other couples are doing also... We laugh about our matching scars and are so looking forward to a healthy and much longer life together... Good luck to you all....

  6. I am pre op and my surgery is scheduled for the 11th of May...I have type 2 diabetes and insulin dependant and I am curious as how others have coped with there surgery and what has happened with their diabetes...Do you still have to take insulin shots and how dramatically have your levels changed. I'm feeling nervous but excited but would love to hear what others have experienced with their diabetes...

Looking forward to hearing from you...

    Thanks Annie
