booda, I HATED getting banded so young, it was like i was giving up and that I am weak!!! I didnt tell anyone ( i still dont tell many people) it is like my dirty little secret. It has only since I have been uneder 100kg that i love my band (the last 2months) It has given me the freedom to control my eating and I look good now and I am itching to travel!!!!!

Wow so glad I started this topic. . It is funny cause since i have been banded about another 5 staff at diffrent sites i work at have come out of the woodwork and have bands too. It is pretty cool to help people and the band helps us. Colleen

I got my first refferal for a band when I was 17, so I know how it feels. I said no at first then waited till i was 24 in that time between 17 to 24 I gained 40lbs. . . I kick myself when I said no at 17. What a great tread!!!!!! I started up a group for exactly this, I love to be young and young banded people have diffrent issues than the older people and also I love to make friends all over the world cause I love to travel!!!! hi ya all, Well some of you I know like Lisa I met yesterday and Kelly I met last year at the banding convention in ACT. I am Colleen 26 from Melbourne (Boronia) but not for too much longer as I think everything is going in storage and I am taking my new body on a big adventure. I have lost 40kg in a year and 5 months, I have not lost much since April (even after going to a fat farm in Thialand a few months ago) but my body shape has changed HEAPS!!!!! I have just over 21kg to go till I am "normal weight" infact only a few kgs to go till i am only overweight, how funny is it that I crave to be overweight, but it beats morbidly obease as I was on banding day at 141.5. At the moment I work in the disability industry while saving for this big adventure and when i do finally get overseas I am happy to work anywhere even at work at Macdonalds. I am sure there will be more meets in Melbourne before I go ( i know for a fact there will be one at the Hub in Karingal in a month or so) I will make sure I post the details here cause I just love meets it is like making friends for nothing. You are all atomaticly friends cause you have this little "secret". Anyways I better head off and catch up on what I missed out on with this site, I hope you see you all soon

Howdy all. . I thought I would share a group I put together after I had trouble finding people my own age with the band. . There are diffrent issues that people under 30 have with the band. . . . I had to update my stats at the bottom and I also failed to mention. In regards to my mum, I told her I took out health insurance and her first response was "great now you can get your stomic stapled" dont know if it was an insult or supportive. But I did do it to shut her up, but now the benifits are all for me I love being banded, I have so much self control and save a fortune on food!!! WOOHOO!! So I can travel more I have loved reading your posts. As for excersise, I do go to the gym, I wont spot train too much now such as abbs (but I am obsessive about my arms) my main goal is to get the weight off then spend a year getting great tone cause I dont want any reconstructive surgury. I also use bio-oil to fade my scar and when in the shower I use vit E cream to wash myself with to make sure my skin is nice and smooth and has enough elacticity that it tightens itself up. This is awsome to see this post doing so well. I thought I would just say that my dad and my sisters dont know about my band and I have no desire to tell them. One day I know my sister will find out because of 8 degrees of seperation and I own an AWSOME online group for people from Victoria Australia too, and it is only a matter of time before someone tells her about my group. I have about 5 friends and my mum who knows about my band and I do hide it because the band is not the easy way out, and my band doesnt make me wake up at 6am every morning and hall my fat but to the gym. . And I even know that a friend of mine who knows I had the band said to my other friend "Well it is easy for Colleen she has the band" I really dont know how my dad would react to knowing and I dont wanna test it out, but I know it is not worth the effort (it could have a lot to do with the fact that my parents are acholoics and are very irrational in their responses to things) It is not worth the conversations to me to tell people. I hope you make the right choice and keep in touch
