    Frustrated With My Spouse

I doubt he is doing it intentionally for sure. But if he is that good of a cook and you feel left out perhaps he could cook somthing that could be easily blended/pureed for you to eat that wouldnt be too much trouble... I know it sounds gross but I got real creative when I had the puree/mushie phase and blended tacos spaghetti etc.. granted I was only able to eat a few teaspoons but it not only killed the cravings it incuded me in others activities.. But you also have to remember that this is a different life for you at the same time and you are going to have tougher choices the further out you are- My husband is very respectful and we joked about what I could/couldnt have etc.. now it doesnt bother me and I dont get offended.

    First Outing

PErsonally you must have a very non-strict post op diet- I couldnt imagine eating a crab cake @ 3 months let alone 3 weeks- mostly fried and breading... but glad you got out and was able to test your sleeve... good luck!!
  3. It sounds weird but mynose starts to run in addition to me feeling fullin my tummy... but you can definitely tell...
  4. I have had sugar, I have had carbs, I am not going to die from it. I am not, have never been and dont obsess about my sleeve stretching. I am physically not able to eat more than 8- 1o bites of food at a time- I know this and if I attempt to I will vomit and feel miserable. Knowing this I know my limits and what I should, shouldnt have and what is worth it if i do over indulge. I enjoy eating whatever I want and have learned that moderation is best and those 8- 10 bites that I can get in 3-4 x a day are going to be the best I can get- I'm not going to wast them on stupid things like chips, cookies etc... things that I have no plan on returing to in my life EVER... I have since become a vegetarian dnd don't eat the "meat' protein some other physicians are throwing down everyone's throats as being normal. I get my fill from fruits, veggies, greens, legumes etc. and feel wonderful. I dont feel deprived or that I have ever over eaten. Although the possibility of "sleeve stretching" is real because the stomach is a muscle- Unless a person is into utter personal sabotage and willing to go through hell to get there I cannot imagine it being done on purpose... you make a mistake you get up dust off your britches and get back on the horse and ride again.. hard lesson to learn but it has to be learned...

    I Must Be Crazy...

I think you are feeling normal. Even 7 mos post op I still freak out every now an then.. what I am amazed though is that how much I used to eat wihtout ever questioning it or second guessing it. When you are fully healed and completely absolutely not able to eat much you will also see it- My husband calls me 10 bite wonder now because no matter what i eat I can only eat about 8- 10 bites of it then I am totally full and feel like I just had a pre op thanksgiving dinner. lol... it is a process- it didnt happen over night...

    Chewed A Mint..

Why did you freak out?Would you have freaked out before your surgery?? Your mouth, throat, esophagus are all the same pre and post op- it is your stomach that shrunk... Just like pre op that little peice of candy was probably liquid by the time it got to where it needed to go... relax......

    Thyroid Levels

I had thyroid cancer in 2007 and had both lobes plus 5 parathyroid glands removed at that time- I had lap band in 2009- band removed and sleeve done in 2011- for the first time since I turned 14 my thyroid is FINALLY at a normal blood level- I am on medicine daily (obviously) It has been a LONG hard battle and any thyroid issue- over or underactive makes it harder to loose weight but it CAN be done- don't use it as a crush- listen to your body- and make sure you take your meds same time every day on an empty stomach and have your levels checked often. The dosage of meds is also based on your weight- pre op i was on 400mcg now i'm on 200.. and it will continue to go down as I continue to loose more... good luck!
  11. For me the sports bra is the fix... Comfortable, I have bought 2 different sizes since surgery getting ready to downgrade again to a smaller size- this time xl or L so happy about that....

    Lunch Question

If you are doing such "planning" of your meals why not buy the stuff fresh, make your own and skip the trip all together- It's cheaper, healthier and you arent getting into the old habit of going for fast food.... you can get good food fast from home...
  13. I used low fat cheese when eating dairy- Cottage cheese, string cheese, slices etc... when I buy it from the deli fresh I get regular.

    Anyone Have Joint Pain

I have/had RA since before and after surgery- It was bad after surgery mainly due to the shock of my immune system with anesthesia etc. But since losing weight the joint pain has gotten better. I dont know how long it has been since your surgery but I know they that the position you are in during surgery for 1-2 hours can sometimes cause pain immediately afterwards for a few days but that is purely positional- If it continues I would mention it to your PCP- you may need to see a rheumatologist.

    Loose Skin On Arms

I dont have pics sorry but I need the brachioplasty (surgery) each arm has about7-10 inces of loose skin- my docs think it is at least 5-15 lbs that I will/would loose- just saving money at this time for the procedure- then I will have before and after pics.... My arms don't really bother me- they bother others though- I am not afraid to go sleeveless or tank top etc... I am comfortable in my skin-
  16. I am right handed... I use my Left hand to eat.. very awkward at first but forces you to go slow- I also put my fork down between bites and i chew chew chew everything until there is nothing left. It is a habit you have to learn- like no straw and no drinking with food etc.. it takes time but you will get it and then it will become 2nd nature andyou wont realize how slow you are eating.... if you are with others just listen and observe... take 1 bite for every 3-4 of theirs- you will be amazed at how little you eat and how much they eat too.. actualy pretty mind blowing...

    Vegetarian Sleevers

I became a vegetarian in March 4 months post op- I get my protein in Tofu, meat alternatives (tofurkey, veggie burgers etc) Kale, Green smoothies etc... I have added MILA to my foods for omega 3's and I eat steel cut oats every day for breakfast. I have lost about 26 lbs since I started the vegetarian diet and feel great- Don't feel deprived, lethargic, sleepy etc... Should have done this YEARS ago....
  18. I got one from my doctor (not mexico) but I have only used it 1 time- because I only order an appetizer now and take 1/2 of it home- no need to explain anymore.. I just dont order or I pick from hubby's plethera of food....
  19. I have also craved more saltier, vinegar (y) things since being sleeved also- Havent given into eating chips but have eaten pickles with no problems and that seems to satisfy it completely... plus they are NO calories and fill you up quite nicely..
  20. Really?? What doctor whould have told you you cannot sleep in a bed?? That's about the silliest thing Ive ever heard on this board... When you are in the hospital having surgery you are in a bed, when you are done with surgery you are in a bed.. why wouldnt you go home to a bed?? just sayin...

    Mental Issues

I agree that is A LOT of food for the time you are post op but if that is what your doctor ordered- my advice would be to ramp up your liquids and decrease your food food. Liquids will fill you up and satisfy that head hunger which is probably what you are feeling at this point. When you get further out you will look back and think jeesh how did I used to eat all that I did- and the day you do you will go into a tail spin and NEVER look back- When that happened to me I was so sickened thinking now what it takes to fill me/satisfy me vs what I used to engorge myself on un-knowingly (or subconsciously knowing) it is hard but you have to have the will power to fight the head hunger.... Also keep a log of EVERYTHING that you intake- You'd be surprised that those re-fried beans from taco bell with the cheese and the sauce may have 20-30 extra calories than if you would have divided a whole can at home. DO your mashed potatoes have milk and butter, eggs have milk and salt?? There are a LOT of changes we have to make diet wise to decrease the calories and not just the amount- If you log them you might be surprised at the "hidden" calories you are actually getting in- GOOD luck!

    16 Mos Out...disappointed

    a) you look amazing you cannot nor should not compare yourself to your hubby!! EVER>> remember Men are from MARS girlfriend!!!! c) From my personal experience I have not been able to eat more than 1000 calories since way before my surgery- In my change I have become a vegetarian and relying fruits and veggies (occasional) fish for my food and let me tell you- since dong soo I feel 1000% better, lighter, healthier NEVER hungry and I can eat what I want when I want and how much of it I want because it is good for me.... not saying this is for everyone by any means- BUT if you feel you may be eating too much- you should try adding more fruits and veggies you can NEVER get too much of those and they fill you right away-
  23. Walking and Zumba work for me...

    Heart Flutters

I have them too and was diagnosed with innapropriate sinus tachycardia- not surgery related either- i feel i'm too young for a pacemaker and so far the medicine combination is working to control them- not be rid compeletely but manageable. You really need to get it checked out. better to be safe than sorry.
  25. I have/had over 200lbs to loose and spoke in depth about this topic with my surgeon who assured me no matter what I read/wanted he was going to do what he was comfortable with. He then explained the difference is so minimal. You will loose weight regardless of bougie size and the smaller you go the more chances of problems you will encounter such as leakes, vomiting etc as other postings will confirm. You can research and over research but ultimately you need to trust that your surgeon will make the right decision for both of you. I'm sure you will be fine.. good luck!
