  1. I wore a loose fitting cotton dress with my crocks and undies. In the hospital I was in a gown and my undies (no bra) with no problem. At home I was comfortable in my jammies. Everyone is right the incisions are high enough that the band from pants/panties shouldnt hurt or rub. I did have 1 incision under my left boob but wearing my bra after a few days didnt bother it. Good Luck!
  2. Each day with each new post I am amazed at the difference in opinon from doctor to doctor on what the post-op diet should be- It makes sense (at least to me anyway) to stay on liquids as long as possible for proper healing. I am on day 7 post op and tried creamy soups and yogurt which ended up beign too much- This is the most for post op day 3-10. Post op day 11-14 are mushie foods/pureed foods (ie mashed potatoes, grits, eggs, etc.) Post op day 14-for 3 weeks- 3 small meals with 2 protein shakes a day. Meals are 4-6 oz and mushy with plenty of protein. At least 3-4 fruits and veggies as well. But the dietician said nothing is in stone and the days can waiver if needed and my body isnt ready.
  3. I am on day 7 post op and have the same weird feeling- Full but back ache- I have only had soup, ensure and h20. Yesterday I tried yogurt but felt too full too fast- I have also tried walking, burping etc and nothing seems to take away that weird "knot" like feeling- I have tried laying down and stretching too- Glad I'm not alone...:glare:
  4. A very good friend of mine who had the lap band many years ago gave me some advice and said to me- You have to buy a Magic Bullet (blender) for after your surgery- It is the best thing ever and I use it every day- Well I bought it before my surgery and used it for the 1st time yesterday to make a "smoothie" and let me tell you- I used it again this am and cannot imagine not having it now- It literally took 3 minutes to make this- 1/2 banana, 1/2 boost vanilla drink ice and a few strawberries for sweetness... TO DIE FOR!!!!!! They also have a recipe book for various things from appetizers to creating meals in literally minutes- The infomercial is quite hilarious but seriously a must have for any lap bander- plus the cup it uses is exactly the amount for us to use to drink- 4-6 oz...... The website to buy is The Magic Bullet Blender - Official Website When I bought mine it was buy 1 get one so we are selling the other one on ebay soon- a steal of a deal for $100 bucks.

    Pre pre-op diet

Congrats to you! I am new here too- For me- not having the ability to chew for pre=op was hard- I love soup and yogurt and thank god I was able to have them. I am not a big water drinker but love tea- so switching to that was easy during the day- I could do without soda so that isnt a problem either- There are so many wonderful flavors of crystal light out there i just imagine it is kool aide- minus all the sugar and calories..... The other big thing for me was not drinking while eating and actually not using a straw- I now take sanitzer with me when we go out (and did it pre op to prepar) to wipe down the cups unless I have my own. I just dont trust restaurant dishwashers.... Good luck- I have found such an overwhelming amount of support from here in such a short time- lisa

    Day 5 of Pre-Op

My doc required a 2 week pre op of clear/full liquids. I did 1 extra week on my own. I was able to eat yogurt (no fruit) and broth or creamy soup (no veggies or meat) and was very satisified. I also had to consume protein drinks (Ensure, Adkins, Slimfast etc) at least 2 a day and that was not a problem. I am day 4 post op and doing well- Just re-introduced yogurt as for the next 14 days am back to clear/full liquid diet. I too am unsure as to why each doctor has a different variation of pre and post op dieting- Some are very extreme while others are very lenient. Personally I was eager to begin this journey and committed 100 + percent and I know that others do not realize until its too late what a commitment it really is. I used the pre-op time to really soul search also and pray alot about what I was doing and got great comfort that way too. I can only say in a while it will be totally worth it and these 2 weeks or 3 weeks of preop are preparing you for the rest of your new-life so dont give up!
  10. I kept mine a secret until the last minute when my surgery got scheduled. I was on a 2 week mandatory liquid diet and did 1 extra week on my own. I ate a lot of soup, Jello and yogurt with no fruit. It was not that un-normal of food to eat for lunch so not much explanation was needed. But having kept it a secret and now being banded on 4/2/09 I sort of wish I had said something sooner- I lost 16lbs on my pre=op and that put me on a cloud- I just wanted to shout to the world but couldnt cuz i didnt say anything..... That is 1 thing pre-op i would change.... lisa
  11. Thanks for sharing your story... I am new here.. How do I add you as a friend?

Day 4 of my new band

I was banded on 4/2/09 and too am having a problem with gas and nausea. My doctor said it was normal and the bowels and intenstines getting "back into place". I am also having a hard time drinking everything the dietician told me to- I have no desire to drink but have to.... I guess that's a good thing...
  13. Hello Yall.... My name is Lisa and I am new here. I was just banded on April 2 (48 hrs ago) by Dr. Pachivat Kasemsap in Melbourne florida. I am anxious to meet new friends here and learn from everyon's personal experiences. I was so excited upon entering the hospital because I lost 16 lbs on my preop diet so that was so encouraging. I have been overweight my whole life and as I am sitting here trying to drink my boost resource beverage gone (mind you it has been 30 minutes) I am marveling in the fullness already..... Thank you for starting this forum and allowing me to be part of this "band wagon". :scared2:
  14. Thanks for your message and support! It is awesome that we have this...

    Post Op Chat

I am on day 2 and struggling as well to "take it all in" I also have some burping but not vomiting or any nausea so-to speak. I am trying to move around and "move some air" haha... I am in love with feeling full and have absolutely no desire to put anything into my mouth!!!! I am also trying to not HAVE to take the pain medication as it knocks me out- Thanks guyz for the support so far- I am so glad to be part of this....:scared2:
  18. I am on day 2 post op and am taking over 1 hour to drink my liquid bkfst. I took my regular medicine and am full already- I feel not nauseated but extremely full and to think that I need to be adding water and or other liquids to meet the reccomended intake makes me want to gag! I finally had a loost stool this am- 1st one since day of surgery YIPPEE- I am trying not to think about it but I am also burping a lot- Has anyone else experienced this? The doctor said ti may be gas from the anesthesia etc. I am trying to walk around the house too- a little bit each hour.
  19. I am new here. I also did not tell a lot of people I was being banded for several reasons. I havent been "ashamed" of my weight so to speak but I am tired of being the white elephant in the room. I wanted to keep my personal life personal and only share wtih those that I knew would love me and support me without fail no matter how good I did. When I start to loose more (I was just banded 48 hours ago) and get to feel more comfortable in my skin, I am sure I will share my journey happily but for now I want to heal and re-birth in private.
