Increase Your Chances of a Good Fill

I am in a delema with my band, things get stuck but I am not getting feeling full. So I am eating very slowly and if it does not feel bad I will eat to much (or what I think is too much) maybe a cup and half of food. Not losing weight or feeling full. I don't know if a fill is in order or what? I know when I first got this fill I was full with very little food eaten. Anyone else like this? In other words feeling tight but not full?
  2. I feel like an expert on this subject... I know now if you eat very slowwwwwly you will usually be just fine, if not you need to tell your doc. I am ready for another fill by next week I'm sure, but eating slowly has definately been the key. I literally have to take a bite then walk away from the food or I'll just continue to eat too fast. What I thought was slow was definately not slow enough, but that walking away thing does the trick. :hungry: Hope it works for you.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

I know what you mean!!! I have not lost and yes the doctor looks at you as if your trying to beat the band. I can tell you I give up trying to please the doctor and just try to please myself, which it seems your doing a wonderful job doing! Keep up the great work!

Increase Your Chances of a Good Fill

Yes it is from what I've experienced and read very normal. Mine wasn't that great either. Of course everyone is different, but from what I've been reading for months now it is normal.

    Are you doing Weight Watchers?

My plan was to get banded because I was such a failure at WW and all the other millions of diets I had been on. Go figure

    How dare she!!!

You know that is one of the reasons I am so sick of being overweight! Although the people are wrong in doing what they do it is soooo embarasssing to have things happen to me like that. I was on an airplane going to California once and the stewardess waits till everyone is on the plane and sitted then comes up to me and asks do you need an extention? I could of died! I had to wonder since I was one of the first people on the plane why she had to wait for everyone else to get on before she ask such an embarassing question. Some people just wake up and go though the day finding ways to be AHs.

    Can't eat in a.m....why?

You know this band is very fickle! You never know what to expect, but I have learned now that the most important thing I need to do is EAT SLOW that has been so far a huge problem for me. I just have a problem with eating so slow that everything gets cold or hot whatever the case may be in what your eating. I literally have to take a bite and go do something then go back to my food, well by then needless to say it is just a real pain to even eat. I hope this does not stay like this but no matter if that's what it takes that's what I'll do. Anything is better than gaining or staying at the weight I am now. I truely love having this band and do not what to take the chance of losing it. That would be one of the most horrible things I could think of. Trying to live with a fickle band and eating slow is going to consume my life for a while.

    Pb's and Vomiting

Thanks for the information and no I will not be going for a fill. I did call my doctor and the nurse did not seem to alarmed when I told her I was getting things stuck all the time. She just said come in for another fill if I wasn't losing any weight. I don't know what to do so I'll just go with what my body is telling me and that is no more fills until I can eat without pbing. I did eat some tuna and cottage cheese the A.M. and it worked out great! Also ate some cereral Shredded Wheat and it also went down fine although I ate it so slow that the milk was room temp before I finished it.

    Pb's and Vomiting

I don't think anyone knows what a slippage feels like or when it occurs. It would be so much easier if things were clearer with the band. I think everyone is different. I also heard that vomiting is one thing to watch for but who really knows? Wish I could help ya.

    June 2006 Band Crew

It seems like different parts of the days I can eat anything and others nothing. I am truely afraid to go get a fill but did not know what I should do. I will eat tuna today and stay at 1/2 cup, but sometimes I just take advantage when I can finally eat without it sticking and making me spit up stuff. I get so weak after it is over I can hardly do much the rest of the day. That pbing has got to stop, I know that for sure. Thanks for your suggestions.

For Those who have "Hit the Sweet Spot"

I am currently experiencing the same thing. I don't know whether I need another fill or unfill. I am not losing any weight and can not eat because of things always getting stuck! I will try to eat and if anything feels like it isn't going down I quit and spit it out. I always thought that if you have good restriction that things don't get stuck and you just feel full after 1/2 cup of food or so. That is how I felt after this last fill of 4.75 in a 11cc VG band but it did not stay that way for very long. I am just wondering if I should fill or unfill?

    Pb's and Vomiting

:help: I have a 11cc VG band and everytime I eat something gets stuck. I have been filled to 4.75 and when that first happen I definately could feel restriction! Now I just keep getting food stuck to the point that I am afraid to eat. Last 2 times things got stuck it was very horrible for me, sweating, spitting up slim and in some cases foam. I have never thrown up but the sweating, and other is enough for me! Anyway I don't know if I need a fill or unfill. I ate over 2 cups of cereral last nite because it went down so well and I felt hungry and had been scared to eat any other time yesterday for fear of getting things stuck. If I feel the slightest thing getting stuck I spit it out and quit eating. I would like to feel full instead of scared. Anyone got any ideas on this issue? Should I get an unfill or a fill? I was banded on June 7th and have not lost any weight in the last 3 weeks or so but in total lost 26 pounds since June.

    June 2006 Band Crew

:help: I have been getting things stuck for about a week or more and it is AWFUL as you guys know. Anyway now I'm wondering if I need a fill or what because I really don't get full I just am afraid to eat. If I feel the slightest thing like a golfball I spit it out and don't eat no more. This is getting to be a pain in the butt because I don't know whether I need a fill or unfill. Last night I ate some cereral that was going down really well so I just kept eating I bet I ate way over 2 cups of cereral. I could of probably ate more but got tired of it. I moved on to some cottage cheese. I don't know why everything is getting stuck, but I thought if it got stuck you had restriction. Is that true or am I just so new to this surgery on June 7th that I don't know how to read being scared is really being full. I have a 11 cc VG band and it is filled 4.75 right now. Which in the beginning was great because seems I felt full at about a half a cup of food. I have got things stuck so bad the last few times that it has now scared me to death. I have never vomited, just spit up slim and sweat so bad. One time it was foam along with slim, sorry if that is TMI.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

Hi everyone I have a question on getting another fill...I am absolutely getting everything I eat stuck so hesitate to eat at all. I'm not feeling full just scared to eat. I have a VG 11cc band and surgery on June 7th have lost about 25 pounds but not nothing in the last 2 or 3 weeks. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

    10 cc band

If you have to rely on discipline what's the reason for spending 20,000 dollars? Seems to me your doctor must of misunderstood you or you him. I get fills every month and have the 11cc VG band I am currantly at 4.75 now and can feel that things get stuck very easy. I don't know that I feel full because it is such a pain in the butt to eat that I just quit before I feel any kind of restriction. I would love to know if that is the way it should be or what? I would love to feel full instead of just scared to eat anymore for fear of getting it stuck.

    How long do dogs live?

I was reading your reply and feel like your not at all nuts, I feel you would be a pretty cold person if you did not talk to her. That is so true animals are sometimes more like family than family. Go figure.........

So sorry to hear of your health issue I hope you will be fine and I'm sure you will...easy for me to say. Anyway here is a big hope it helps... Keep us posted
  24. I definately think it is my own fault, I eat to fast and need to slow down. Usually when I take a bite of food and walk away for a little while I'm fine, it's just so hard to eat like that? But anything is better than the alternative. How do you like your band?
  25. carol134

    No complications?

I think the biggest complication most people have is trying to get the band at the fill that is right for you. Once that is accomplished your on your way to total bliss. Also trying to adjust to the changes you have to do with a band now living inside of you. Good luck
