Wow, Jessica. Bravo for having the courage to face your past and deal with it. I just finished reading "When food is Love" by Geneen Roth. Most complusive eaters had abusive childhoods. If you haven't read it you might want to check it out. It might help you on your journey but, you seem to be doing awesome!!! Congratulations!!! Thanks for sharing and keep us posted.

I was wondering about alli too.

My doc said no crunch type exercises (ab work) ever.

I gained over the holidays! (*&^%$$#@ My weight was 180 this morning. I haven't changed my ticker. Hopefully, I'll take it off quickly.

Eating in general is less enjoyable to me. It's definitely more work. Trying to figure what I can eat, what I can't eat... who's watching... I have to be more careful when eating with friends who don't know I'm banded... don't want to start sliming in front of them. It was kinda sad at Christmas dinner. I had a tiny bit of turkey w/ gravy and it started to make me slime. ( My band won't tolerate chicken or turkey). Watching everyone else thoroughly enjoying their food and getting seconds was a little sad.

I have a treadmill at home which I love. I enjoy reading while using it. It's nice when the weather is icky to jump on it without having to go anywhere. I also have a gym membership. For the past couple of months, I've been using the treadmill and going to the gym every other day. I use the weight machines at gym. I use the treadmill at home on Sun, Weds, Fri and Sat. I go to the gym on Tues, Thurs, and Sat. I take Mondays off.

My doctor's ofc said no crutches or crutch type exercises ever. They said it could cause my port to flip. According to another thread, different doctors say different things on this subject so, it's best to ask your doctor.

Wow! I just saw a 2 yr 24 hr fitness membership for $299 at costco. What a deal! I'm definitely going to get one of those when my current membership ends in Feburary. Thanks Tiffanye! ( I was checking out the bodybugg on there when I saw the membership )

I got mine from BodyMedia.com.

Ordered my body bugg! I'm excited. I hope it'll help and motivate me to reach my goal weight before summer.
-
I read a review in a magazine (maybe fitness) and the editor (or whoever) tried it, said she could feel it working.

I'm in! I'll make my goal 7 lbs (I'm a slow loser) that'll put me at 169. One sixies' here I come!!!!

I was banded in April '09 but, don't think I've ever posted in this section. I usually stick to the Post-op and General discussion sections but, still start checkikng and posting in this section more. It's nice to see bandsters in my weightloss range.
Happy New Bunnies!!!!

Aside from the nutritional changes, the trauma of surgery also affects hormones, and emotions. I've also read something about fat "holding" hormones, so the actual fatloss, will affect hormones and emotions. That's part of the reason why overweight women have trouble conceiving.
Hillmama, I hope you will continue to feel better as you heal. I'm curious, about what kind of surgery revision you had? I've never heard of concentric pouch dilitation before. Did they give you a new band?

I chew sugarfree Extra. Watermelon flavor is delish! I hadn't accidently swallowed gum since I was a kid so, of course, right after I had surgery I accidently swallowed two pieces at the same time!!!! I didn't have any restriction at the time. I told doctor's ofc about it and they said it was ok. I still chew gum but only one piece at a time!!! They do say it causes gas but, it isn't to terrible. I think the gum helps prevent snacking between meals.

My resolution is to be as healthy as possible this year. I commit to:
1) Cardio 4xwk and Strength training 3 x wk (6days per week)
2) Follow band eating rules concentrating on quality Protein first. Chewing well and eating slowly.
3) Work on complusive eating issues and "head hunger" issues.
4) Limit slider foods (cookies, ice cream...) to one day per week. A designated "cheat day".
-
Try to concentrate on healing right now. Hope you feel better soon.

ymjackson1,
I just checked the Crystal Light website, I didn't see one for hair & nails. They have one for the skin. Is that the one you meant? If not, what flavor is it?

Does the new doctor accept transfer patients? Will your insurance company have a problem with the change? Good luck and keep us posted.

I'm 8 mos post-op (WOW) and unfortunately, burping, excuse me, I mean BELCHING and gas issues are a daily occurence but, I consider it a small price to pay for weightloss success and being healthier (blood pressure is down, cholestrol is down, ....)

Congratulations! Keep posting and let us know how you're doing!

Welcome Back!

I love the Hood brand "Calorie Countdown" milk. The 2% has 90 cals per cup and the Fat Free has 45 cals per cup. Both have 8 grams of Protein. I think either fat free or 2% are good choices. It's a matter of preference.

I would think you would knock your knees on the desk if you tried to use it under the desk.
