    Funny Jokes

Ok this thread has been really funny and great, so I thought I would include a joke myself You are on the bus when you suddenly realize ... you need to fart. The music is really loud, so you time your farts with the beat. After a couple of songs, you start to feel better as you approach your stop. As you are leaving the bus, people are really staring you down, and that's when you remember: you've been listening to your ipod.

    Sliming?

As soon as I saw a few postings people swearing by the stuff I went out and got mine, I got it at walmart it was $4 for a bottle of like 50 of them. I just gotta figure out how many to take and when. I haven't had any issues yet, but as far as I can tell i have no restriction yet either.

    Sliming?

Ok well these answers make a lot more sense. I assume is pretty common since a lot of people have mentioned it. Is this where the papaya enzyme would come in handy?
  4. Hey Poma, I live in So Cal also, Inland Empire though. Don't get frustrated with slow weight loss, as long as its a loss and not a gain your moving in the right direction  I think the biggest thing helping me to lose is my excersizing, I joined curves and I walk on my treadmill at home. I'd like to know how your fill went, I am scheduled for the 28th and I am looking forward to it, yet i am also nervous about it as well. I just don't know what to expect, everyones MD's seem to do things a little bit differently.

    Denied by tricare prime =(

What was their denial reason? When I worked for an HMO the appeals department always looked for key points like Quality of Life/Living and emotional distress. Those were always key points that helped an appeal. Good luck.

    So Frustrated!!!!

Are you excersizing? I was banded a week after you I don't think I have any fluid in my band because I feel like I can pretty much eat anything I want. I DON"T but I don't get the full feeling people talk about having, I just feel OK I could eat more but I don't have to, so I don't. I haven't PB'd anything, but I have only eaten 1 thing I shouldn't have (chicken quesadilla) I have lost only 14 lbs since surgery. I have been excersizing more and more though. Just a thought, maybe its that? Good Luck

    30 & almost 300 lbs.

Oh yeah I am not really familiar with that area, I am in the inland empire myself. And of course you would have to be part of a group I am not familiar with, figures :glare: but the only thing I can say is 6 months will go by pretty quickly and maybe you can try to get some of the other things out of the way during that time, maybe the psych eval and so then when it comes time for the referral to the surgeon you are a little bit ahead of the game. Well I wish you lots of luck on your journey. These boards are a fabulous tool, I just found them myself.

    30 & almost 300 lbs.

WOW, reading your post it could be me. I to live in So Cal, I am 30 and have a 2 1/5 year old daughter and my highest weight was 303. Where in So Cal are you? Can I ask who is your medical group? I am pretty familiar with a bunch of them, maybe I can help you navigate the system. If you are worried about having more kids, with the lap band its much easier and of course losing weight will only help your chances of having another baby, and having a healthier pregnancy. I was plagued with gestational diabetes when I was pregnant. I am hoping that a big weight loss will prevent me from that when I decide to have another child.

This Is The Hardest Desecion I've Ever Made

Wow that's discouraging now isn't it? I decided on the band because of the fact it carries less risks, its more likely to be a long term solution and a way short recovery time. I made up my mind pretty quick actually. I hope you still try to pursue some sort of surgery, maybe it's something you can write an appeal to your insurance or can you maybe pay out of pocket. A lot of folks on here have paid out of pocket for theirs and also a lot have gone to Mexico. I hope you find some positive answers.
  10. So I have been hearing a lot about how great the Nectar Protein mixes are, but I can't see buying a whole 2 lb jar for something I dont know i'll like. So I contacted the company and they have a great deal on a sample package, so I thought I would share it with you all. Here is the email I rec'd: We are currently offering a Variety 'Sampler' containing 11 full serving packets of the following flavors: Apple Ecstasy, Caribbean Cooler, Crystal Sky, Fuzzy Navel, Lemon Tea, Roadside Lemonade, Strawberry Kiwi, Twisted Cherry, Chocolate Truffle, Vanilla Bean Torte and Latte Cappuccino. The price is $21.89. We are however offering a coupon discount of $16.90 leaving a total of $4.99 plus $5.00 UPS Shipping. The total you pay is $9.99 and arrives in 2-3 days. If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please give us a call at 866-333-7403 x 718. Our hours are Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm Central time.
  11. Is it even possible to lose too fast? I would talk to your surgeon. From what I have heard/read the weight loss is going to come to a plateau so the more you lose now the better for later on. I think of you jump into foods too quicky you run the risk of hurting your band not to mention going back into your old eating habits and completely failing your band. You don't want to do that. Keep up the good work though. Its a wonderful journey we are on.

    Friday Weigh-in

This is a great idea, I'd like to participate :w00t: I am just only 2 weeks post op so I am starting pureed/mushy foods today. But this morning I weighed in at 270 not too shabby a 12 lb weight loss since surgery.

    On My Way!!

I have worked for several years in insurance and healthcare and some key words to use in any appeal situation are - quality of living/life (very important) and mental or emotional strain/anguish. No guarantees but do mention those as strongly and enough times to get your point accrossed. Hope that helps you in your journey. Good Luck !
  14. I had to do 6 months of visits with my PCP and basically its more to see that you are serious and going to take the surgery seriously. IF you lose weight they will not/cannot hold it against you AS LONG as you still meet the surgery requirements of having a high enough BMI and/or co-morbidities. Take the 6 months as seriously as you want. Personally I didn't diet at all, only because I knew after those 6 months I'd only have to jump thru some more hoops for the surgeon, which I did and that I took seriously and lost 21lbs before surgery.

    Need products and advice

Hi am pretty new here too. I bought a cute little hamilton beach blender and the blender cup is an actual cup with a drinking spout and all. The even better part is it chops up whole ice cubes and it only cost me $13 at walmart. As for protein powder I buy Body Fortress Strawberry, Chocolate or Cookies and cream also from walmart $14 for a 2lb jar. I am still learning myself but those are a couple of items I can definately advise on. Best of Luck to you on this journey :smile2:
  16. Welll good luck and I hope all goes well. I am doing great myself.

  17. Someone on here posted a link for a place to buy discounted Protein bullets and mixes and stuff. I lost it :crying: if someone has it could you please post it again? Thanks
  18. I was told stuff like pineapple, rhubarb, breads and asparugus can stick but what else sticks? They mentioned that some people have problems eating rice, is this the case? I am not on solids yet, but when I do get there i have had this huge craving for california rolls and really hope that i can have them.

Protein shakes - GAG, YUCK, PUKE, EEEEKKKK

You've gotten a lot of suggestions but I wanted to throw another one out there. I bought this powder whey protein mix at walmart, Body Fortress Whey Protein it comes in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and cookies and cream. I LOVE the strawberry one, I mix it with half a banana, skim milk and ice - tastes like strawberry ice cream and no protein taste. The best part is its only like $13 for a 2lb container. 26 grams of protein and only 100 calories for the powder.
  20. I was banded on 3/19 and while I am not on foods yet I have read a few posts about food getting stuck. This was breifly mentioned in my class as well. My questions are how can you tell? and what happends to you? :huh2:
  21. I am brand new to these boards, so I am just jumping in feet first  I was just banded 3/19, I haven't hopped on the scale as of yet. When was weighed at surgery I was 282 so I would love to aim for -15 lbs bringing me down to 267

Husband not supportive anymore....any advice please?

I am so sorry you are going thru this. In my opinion he should support you no matter how many times you've been sick. To me it doesn't sound you're reading too much into this, it sounds like the opposite to me. Focus on you and your health, don't try to fix yourself for him so you aren't slowing him down. He should be concerned with you and your recovery not with what you can't do. I am sorry if I have offended, just trying to help.
  23. I was due to go back to work on Monday but I took one extra day to relax. It wasn't too bad for me, but I have a desk job. Is your job really demanding? I hope your employer can understand if you have some limitations. Good Luck to you as well, and thank you.

  24. I was just banded on 3/19. I would like to be included in the March Banders group. I know I will have so many questions come up it'll be great to know I have a place to turn to. I just found these boards today, so forgive me if I seem a little "slow" at whats going on around here. :huh2:
