I bought Centrum chewable in Orange Flavor. I compared the ingredients to the Flintstones Chewable and it had more vitamin, including Folate, which Flintstone, I believe did not.

Good luck to all our September 1st bandies!!! I am on day two of my pre-op liquid diet and it all sank in finally yesterday! Even after all the preparing, researching, dr. appts, etc., the hunger from the liquid only day one made it all so real. It wasn't even the hunger so much as the headache. I went to the store today and stocked up on sf ice pops (found ones flavored like Dr. Pepper, Root Beer and Orange Crush), they are awesome. I bought about a case of diet Snapple and lots of SF Jello and Chicken and Vegetable Bouillon cube. I had one chicken boulloin cube last night and let me tell you, it felt like the best meal I ever ate in my life! Too funny. I am happy to report that today has been a much better day, hunger-wise and headache-wise, so I know I can do this for 12 more days. My only advice is to have lots of variety in the protein drink, clear liquid dept. I made my Whey protein shake this afternoon with 5 oz. of skim milk instead of water and it really filled me up. For breakfast I had the vanilla creme Myoplex Lite, which I really like. I also had a Muscle Milk Vanilla today, I found that very sweet and was shocked at the fat content in that one. I'm not sure if I should be drinking those, so I'll save them for down the road. They are already pre-mixed. I think I slept 3 hours last night between the hunger and the headache and when I woke up this morning, I felt like I was going to die. I think my body was in shock. I drank some grape juice and felt much better and as the day went on, it got better. Good luck to everyone. I just cannot believe this is happening!

Anyone Else Have To Do 2 Weeks of Liquid Pre-Op???
ItsGottaGo! replied to ItsGottaGo!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for all the great support and advice everyone! Day one of the liquid pre-op diet has officially ended! I was starving, head pounding (TOM is coming too) and I really wanted to eat something, but didn't. Let me tell you, sugar-free jello and chicken broth never tasted so damn good! Tomorrow I will buy boxes of sugar-free ice pops and some diet peach snapple. I can only have clear liquids, not full liquids. I really wanted to eat a peach today, really really bad, and I never crave fruit, so you now how hungry I was. I also wanted to eat the steamed broccoli I made for my daughter, but refrained from that also, although I know it wouldn't have hurt me too much. I hope I can do this for 13 more days. I am keeping my goal in mind and trying to stay focused. If I didn't have this pounding headache, I could deal with the hunger. Oh, well. At least when banding day comes, I will be begging them to get it on me, instead of being scared, just to end this suffering. I just can't believe I will be on clear liquids for the next month. Hey, if it's the worst thing I ever have to endure, I shall consider myself extremely fortunate! I am so curious to see how much weight I drop during this phase. Imagine if I don't lose any??? I'm guessing 10lbs, anything more would be gravy. -
I'm so sorry you are feeling so sick. This is the one thing that I am frightened of. I was nauseas for a week after just having an upper endoscopy done, I can only imagine what will happen when I get the band. I also have no prescription insurance, so am hoping and praying I won't need additional medication. I hope you are feeling better soon. Please keep us posted.

Wow, you are all doing so great with the excercise. I can't detach the couch from my butt just yet! Also, today I started the liquids. I don't want to complain, but I am starving!! It's 3 shakes a day, plus clear liquids only in between. Sounds very extreme. The surgeon orders this for everyone, no matter what your starting weight is. My head is pounding and I am nauseas from hunger. How am I going to last?? September 12th cannot come fast enough!

Not doing so well on pre op diet
ItsGottaGo! replied to Teresa'sTurn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am starting my full 2-week liquid only pre-op diet tomorrow. I, too, feel very ill when I am hungry, get terrible migraines and stomach gets sick feeling too. This should be an interesting two weeks. My poor poor family, and I have PMS on top of that :faint: . -

Thanks Belle. So, you were allowed 1 meal per day in addition to the protein shakes? I am not, just liquid. -
HELP! Reality is setting in. Tomorrow I start 2 weeks of liquids before surgery. I am going to need a lot of help to do 2 weeks of just liquids. And....it's the week before TOM! :faint: Geez, 1 week would be so much easier! ARGH!!!! No pain, no gain, huh?

Well, tomorrow I start my 2 week pre-op protein shake/clear liquid diet! YIKES! I was supposed to meet with my surgeon and anesthesiologist tomorrow, but thanks to Ernesto, it was cancelled. I won't meet with them until September 6th and luckily it will not delay my surgery (I was so worried about it being delayed), but I still have to start the shakes tomorrow. I'm glad I like protein shakes, I used to drink them all the time. I feel bad for my family for the next two weeks, hopefully, I won't be too unbearable to be around.

Oh my gosh, Julie, you have lost 76lbs since April??? That is absolutely amazing! Congratulations!

I am going to be banded on September 12, 2006. Cannot wait!! Less than 2 months since attending the seminar. I look forward to sharing and receiving information with all of you!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

You look great. Congratulations! I know a TT is in my future too! Probably a breast lift or augmentation as well. But will take one day at a time, I'm not even banded yet. Thanks for sharing!

Wow, Elisabeth. I am so happy you made it through that nightmare. That is my biggest fear of this surgery, the possiblity of a PE afterwards, but I try not to dwell on it. I, too, learned not to sweat the small stuff after a life-changing event when Lung Cancer came into my life. Not me, my Dad. It consumed my life for 2-1/2 years while he suffered with it, and now 2-1/2 years since he has past. I am finally ready to go foward with my life and get myself together, emotionally and physically. Some people never learn not to sweat the small stuff. We are fortunate to have learned that lesson, although the circumstances in which we did were terrifying. I wish you all the best.

Do you have medical insurance? If so, if it were me, I would go to the ER and get some fluids in me via IV so as not to dehydrate. Let us know how you are doing.

I cannot take codeine in any type of pain medication. It gives me horrible stomach pain. Does anyone else have this problem, and if so, what type of post-op pain medication were you given? What should I ask for? :help:

Post-Op Pain Medication Question
ItsGottaGo! replied to ItsGottaGo!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks. I am definitely going to let them know. I don't think I take Vicodin too well either, along with percocet. I wish I could remember the name of the pain-killer they gave me in the hospital after my c-section. It worked great, but the dr. would write a prescription for it for me to take home, he said I could only get it in the hospital. He told me the name, but of course I don't remember. -

Typical to be on protein drink only 2 wks prior to banding?
ItsGottaGo! replied to pumpkin5's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgeon requires a 2 week liquid protein diet before surgery. He provides the liquid, so I'm waiting to see what type it is. I have one that I prefer myself. I am meeting with him on August 30, and probably start the liquid on the 31st! Yikes! -
I will be staying overnight definitely, as long as everything is ok, they let you go on the second day. I am glad I am staying overnight because when I had my tonsils out 7 years ago, they sent me home and I was vomiting the entire night. Wow that was painful! I wish they would have kept me then. Hopefully, everything will be alright and I won't have to stay two nights. When I spoke to my surgeon the first time, he said protein shakes for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I will go and see him on August 30th. My surgery will be in the a.m., I already asked. I wanted it a little later, I have to travel 1-1/2 hrs. to get there and didn't want to have to stay overnight the night before, but whatever it takes, right? So you can think of me that morning, and I will think of you that afternoon :sick .
