  1. That would be really depressing but look on the bright side, they did what was best for you and you are still alive. I also used to take Micardis and had to stop a couple of months after surgery as i had an incident where it dropped really low and I passed out and ended up being monitored in hospital. I wish i could say that my BP is now normal but it isn't and I am back on meds again. I am surprised that they have put the schedule for tests so far out. Obviously you want to be able to proceed asap. I would have thought that the answer was for you to stop taking the meds for a short period prior to surgery but obviously you can only do that if the Dr instructs you to do so.
  2. Try yogurt, it is still essentially liquid but a bit more satisfying. My Dr makes me stick to soft foods after a fill not liquids but every Dr is different and you need to do what your's recommends.
  3. I think it would be hard to recover away from home. I also think it would be hard to stick to a preop liquid diet away from home when there are so many temptations around. This process can be hard, you do not want to make it any harder. I would be rethinking going away and saving it for later in the year.
  4. white wine with some soda water
  5. That would have annoyed me too.
  6. How can hiring a personal trainer mean that you are LAZY???????
  7. No need to be worried, this happens sometimes. Your body is just adjusting. Keep doing what you are supposed to be doing and you will lose it again.
  8. I get told to do soft foods for the day of the fill then slowly back to normal after that.
  9. Go and see your Dr. You may have been prefilled and combined with the postop swelling that could be causing the problems. Most people that have major discomfort so soon after surgery turn out to have been prefilled.
  10. That's great. I have the opposite problem, my rings are now too big so I have to wear them on my middle finger instead. I don't want to pay to get them resized though as in summer my fingers swell and then they would be too small, maybe I just need 2 sets of rings - a summer set and a winter set! Not sure my DH would like that idea!
  11. It seems there is a real problem after a certain point where the restriction wears off but further fills then cause reflux. It would be good if someone could come up with the answer as to why. I have only had 1 episode of reflux since my partial unfill months ago but I swear at the time I was not tight and would actually have liked more restriction. Now I am just desperate for any restriction. I want my band to work the way it did initially , without me thinking about it. Now I have to struggle not to spend the day snacking and am constantly pondering what diet I should start to get rid of the 3kg I have gained. The scary thing is that it seems that some of the previous veteran bandsters encountered the same problem and ended up having revisions. At the time when it was happening and I was new I didn't want to believe what they were saying and was hopeful that it was just a fluke, yet more and more people seem to be encountering the same thing. The problem with revising to a sleeve though is that i believe the long term success is still not known. How many people have had a sleeve for 3 years or more and what is their success rate? The sooner they invent that wand the better.
  12. Welcome and all the best.
  13. The best place to ask this question would be on either the vertical sleeve or the bypass board. Most people don't stick around here once they have their bands out.
  14. I eat all sorts of beans and they don't give me any issues. I normally use tinned, not dried as they are quick and easy. Black beans, baked beans, red kidney beans, chickpeas etc. (You may have different names for some of those).
  15. Sorry I don't but if you search the internet you should fine info. The problem is a lot of the results are Dr's reports so they are hard to understand. Also try searching oesophagal dysmotility.
  16. I'm not a vegetarian but I find nuts incredibly easy to eat. In fact so easy that i have to be careful I don't overdo it.So I imagine that nuts will still be able to be part of your diet, just make sure you exercise good portion control.
  17. Did you not receive any education from your Dr or his practice prior to being banded on how the band actually works? Just having a band doesn't make a difference, it is the fills that do that. You might want to visit the lapband.com site and read up some of the info there. Then if you don't understand what it is saying ask us some more questions.
  18. Maybe oesophagal incompetence. i think a number of people with bands do develop a problem where the oesophagus is no longer able to push food through the way it should.
  19. Phone your Dr, there should be no reason (other than unavailability of appointments)that you can't go back in straight away.
  20. As the others have said you WILL KNOW when you get stuck. The pain is indescribable especially the first time. It feels like you are having a heart attack.
  21. I would think that as long as you are not too tight that the pill should pass into your stomach really quickly and not cause any issues with the band.
  22. LOL, you and me both. Even with a GPS as most of the time I am in the right lane when I need to go left. And I am still dreading the day I have to do a hook turn!
  23. It sounds as though you could have a slip
  24. My suggestions would be to start eating some real food. How about yogurt in the morning or a Protein shake? Where are your vegetables? Even if you are doing low carb you should still be eating healthy vegetables.
  25. If you are eating and drinking OK then you don't need to worry.
