Flat Breads Anyone?
Well that does happen to some people after they lose weight!

Looking Sick Post Band?
I may have a few more wrinkles than preband but at least now I only have 1 chin. I think 2, 3 or more chins looks really awful and makes a person look far worse and far older than a couple of wrinkles.

Am I Too Tight? Eating To Fast? Or Do I Need A Fill??
Generally if you get stuck you do get hungry sooner than you should as you probably didn't manage to finish your meal. I wouldn't even contemplate having another fill at this point. You need to focus on eating slower so you don't get stuck. Another fill will just make getting stuck even easier.

First Fill, Bruise?
So was I then afterwards I thought wow that was easy why did I spend so much time worrying! Different Drs have different methods. Mine just got me to lie down, he felt around for the port and then got me to do a small crunch , he put the needle in and a couple of seconds later he was all done.Just had to drink some water to make sure everything was OK and then stick to liquids followed by soft foods for a couple of days. Easy peasy!

All These Ads...
I haven't got any experience with the beds in question. However in order not to get a huge indent in your bed you should flip the mattress once a month. One month turn it top to tail, the next side to side. It does make a difference.

First Fill, Bruise?
Sometimes I get a bruise sometimes I don't. It's not really anything to worry about.

Drinking While Eating Should I?
It might help you to get full with less food but you are also more likely to get stuck. You will probably also find that you get hungry again sooner than you should which is why the "rule" is there. Not sure why you are upset about not getting a fill.If they think you are doing fine and you have discussed it with your Dr then you probably are doing fine. You have lost lots and the last part is always going to be harder to lose than the first part.

Choices Of Pre-Op Foods...
What is it in the yogurt that you are allergic to? Generally people that are allergic to yogurt would also have issues with other dairy foods such as cottage cheese. I can't see a problem with substituting yogurt with cottage cheese except that initially the texture could cause problems, yogurt is more liquidy. You could just leave the yogurt out and eat the other foods on your list. Light olive oil is not light in fat. It would be better to eat your salad with no dressing.

Nausea After Rebuckling Of Band
It's probably a reaction to the anaesthetic - they may have used a different 1 to the previous surgeries. I hate anaesthesia as it always makes me feel sick afterwards

Can Weight Loss Cause Gout? Please Respond With Helpful Input...
It is more likely that the high protein diet is the culprit not the weight loss.

Cereal Or Soup
Try blending your soup so that it doesn't consist of chunks and watery liquid. Also soup isn't one of the best foods post band as it is normally a slider - you should focus on solid foods that fill you up for longer.Maybe the rice is swelling and causing an issue so you could try skipping the rice. I've never actually had rice in soup before! Eat your cereal with just a dash of milk or try eating it with yogurt instead.

Calling All Low Bmi Banders!!!!
I would say your weight loss is well within the expected range. If you are stuck then take careful note of what you are eating - maybe you have become complacent and sneaked in a bit more than you think, or increase your exercise.

Am I In The Green Or Red Zone Or Somewhere In Between?
It is really unusual to get stuck on icecream - normally it is a slider food. You may be too tight. Why don't you go back to doing a few days of liquids, followed by soft foods and see how that goes. if you still have problems then I would suggest you need a small unfill.

Food Stuck Vs Restriction??
If food gets stuck then yes you must have some level of "restriction" as obviously without a band this would not have happened. It does not mean however that you have enough "restriction" or that you are too tight. Food getting stuck is often a result of user error - not chewing properly, too big bites, not waiting between bites etc. You have said that if you don't chew well or get distracted that you get stuck which would seem to indicate it is user error. Bread is also a food that many people find difficult to eat once banded as it is doughy and can form a ball or plug that gets stuck. What you want to aim for with your band( and I am not going to refer to it as restriction as I hate that term because it gives the wrong impression) is that if you eat a meal of the size and type of foods that your Dr has recommended that you should be SATISFIED and NOT HUNGRY for a reasonable length of time afterwards. The length of time varies from person to person and the amount of fill but you would probably be hoping for 3 - 4 hours. You will not feel full in the way you did preband and it is still perfectly possible to have head hunger.Being able to recognise this for what it is and having some method of dealing with it makes a big difference. HTH

Alcohol
I think the reduced food intake and lower body weight also contribute to the alcohol having a much faster effect.

I Am Ready!!
I made lots of veggie soups and added in lentils etc for protein and then blended and froze them.

Lap Band- Allergan Vs. Realize Band- What's The Difference?
The Realize band is marketed as being a low pressure band. What this actually means in practice is that people with a Realize band usually need a higher level of fill in order to achieve adequate restriction. Other than that I am sure they both do the job that they are supposed to do.

Sometimes The News Media Is To Much!!!!
I fit comfortably into a size 8 Aus. I even have some pants which are a size 6 and they still fall off after I have been wearing them for a while. LOL I have narrow hips and no butt. I think the equivalent size in the US is a size 2. Now that sounds tiny but I don't feel tiny. I am certainly a lot bigger than I was in my early 20s. I still have some clothes from then. They are marked a size 10 and I cannot do them up. There is a good couple of inches gap between the 2 halves meeting around my middle. So yes clothing sizes have changed dramatically. if i can now fit into a new size 2 but can't do up an old size 10 there is really something wrong. But even though a 6 is a lot bigger it is bye no means oversized. I just wish they would standardise things from country to country. Why can't we have international standards - it would make life so much easier

Mega Shake
Isn't this a bit high in fat and calories for preop? My Dr was very strict with what was and wasn't allowed. I was allowed an optifast(or similar) twice a day and some low carb veggies at night. No fruit, extra yogurt or anything like that.

Port Infection And Lap Band Removal
Sorry that you had such a bad experience. Unfortunately with any surgery there is always a risk. Chances are that had you opted for one of the other surgeries you may have also been the unlucky person that had something go wrong and all the other WLS actually have a much higher risk of serious surgical complications. The infection could have developed because of something that happened in surgery, in the hospital, a visitor not following proper hygiene procedures or you may in fact even unwittingly have infected yourself. There are more and more superbugs around these days that are resistant to antibiotics and they are a major problem.

It's My (Pity) Party ... I'll Cry If I Want To ...
Fran that is awful. It just doesn't seem fair. What nasty deeds did you do in one of your previous lives to deserve all that? If you have to give up all these what are you allowed to eat? It doesn't seem to leave a hell of a lot? I love your positive attitude. The fact that you have been dealt such a horrible hand yet you can still appreciate the positive things. Hope things start getting better soon.

Alcohol
Yes and yes. I was a moderate drinker and 2) I still am. I drink a glass or 2 of wine a couple of nights a week. Sometimes (like tonight) I dilute it with soda Water. I don't drink as much as I did preband and when i do drink I have to be careful as I now get drunk a lot quicker.
