  1. You should do a search on the site. This subject has been raised and discussed at depth(no pun intended) a number of times before.
  2. Suck ice. Hopefully it will help to reduce any swelling and let the stuck item down.
  3. LOL. I read this as though you were in pain!
  4. What is wrong Shirley? Hope you are OK
  5. Not sure what this is. You may have overdone it with the exercise. It sounds as though there could be bleeding there.Whilst it is good to walk you still need to be aware that you are just recovering from surgery and not overdo it. Can you call and speak to someone from your Drs office before Tuesday even if you can't see someone until then? Here in Australia we have a service called Nurse on Call which is great for situations like these - do you have something similar? In the meantime I would suggest that you take it easy. If you have done any damage to your port you don't want to make it worse. Using a cold compress should help to reduce swelling. If the swelling gets worse, the area becomes distended and hard to touch then I would go to emergency as this could indicate severe internal bleeding. Also if there are signs of infection - pus, odour, heat etc you should try to see someone. Hopefully there is nothing wrong and it will resolve itself but it is always better to err on the side of caution if you have any concerns.
  6. Also CT scans are expensive. They are not something that they use routinely after lapband surgery. To me the fact that your Dr ordered one so early on meant that he already suspected that there was potentially some kind of serious problem.
  7. 320 calories is a lot for something that isn't "real" food. I would rather eat 320 calories worth of proper, natural food. meat, chicken, nuts, etc. Far more satisfying.
  8. They do have them here, I had one after my hysterectomy and it was great. It cost a little extra as I don't think it was covered by medicare but it was well worth it.
  9. It sounds to me as though there was some other problem not the lapband which your Dr failed to pickup. Possibly there was already a problem with the infected gall bladder which could have caused the issues, maybe it was something else. I am sure you will never find out the real reason as when Drs have done something wrong they don't generally share that info. Sorry that you had to go through this.
  10. I can't understand why you are worried about your husband now that you have lost most of your weight. If he didn't stray and still loved you when you were obese why would he do so now that you are slim? Maybe it is not him that you are worried about but yourself. You sound very insecure and as though you could possibly benefit from some form of counselling. I don't see any problem with you wanting a TT. However the way you say it is a bit of a concern Plastic surgeons and other health professionals often caution people that changing their bodies will not make them happy. In fact it can lead to problems where people become addicted to plastic surgery in their pursuit of happiness , look at MJ. A perfect or close to body does not make you happy. If you are not happy then again I would suggest that you could benefit from counselling to try and find out what your issues are and why you are not happy. The way your fill was done sounds quite normal to me. In Aus Dr's routinely make patients do a crunch, it is the way i have always had my fills and it has never been a problem. And yes a certain amount of liquid does evaporate over time. But it does seem strange that by the next day you had already lost .5. To me that would either indicate a leak or that the Dr did not get the needle in the right spot to put the liquid into the port/tubing/band. However as he withdrew everything and replaced it and you had 10ml there then he must have got the right spot so what is going on seems really odd. I wouldn't be happy about having to pay twice in a row like that and would be concerned about what was going on. It is quite common for the level of restriction to be affected if the liquid is all withdrawn and then replaced which is why the liquid should not be routinely withdrawn at every fill. The best way to imagine it is to think of what happens to a balloon if you inflate and deflate it a couple of times. The rubber gets stretchy and wrinkled. Withdrawing and replacing the Fluid in your band too often can have a similar effect which means that even with the same amount of liquid in your band it doesn't exert the same amount of pressure and you feel less restriction. Hope some of this info helps.

  12. I ate things like pasta and lasagne . Tuna lasagne was a favourite. I grated all the veg in my food processor before cooking it to make sure they were extra small. Lots of mashed veg like pumpkin, squash, zucchini etc.
  13. LOL Been there done that. For those who have never been stuck think yourself lucky, just don't think it is because you are following your Dr's rules. Most of us do that and it doesn't stop stuck episodes. The foods that Dr's recommend are actually the ones that are more likely to cause problems than the unhealthy, fattening foods that shouldn't be eaten on a regular basis. I have been stuck on chicken, fish, watermelon, tomato, lettuce etc. The mistake most people make is that when they get stuck on something they then cut it out of their diets and end up living on a very small range of food. I still eat everything regardless of if it has given me a problem before. Restriction is not about restricting the type of foods that you can eat, it is about feeling satisfied on smaller portions. If Papaya works for you then again count yourself as being lucky. I have tried and it does nothing for me.Generally the best option when you are stuck is to try to bring the offending item back up - that will give you relief from the discomfort which could otherwise go on for hours. If I have a really bad stuck episode I suck on crushed ice, it helps to reduce the swelling and seems to speed things along. Good luck with finding out what works for you.
  14. The first time it happens it feels like you are having a heart attack.
  15. My skinny 22year old daughter can no longer fit into my jeans so I know how great you feel. However when it comes to dresses there are some my daughter can get into which I can't. I am smaller around the hips and butt, she is smaller around the middle.
  16. Welcome and congrats on your success
  17. Maybe the vomiting had nothing to do with the band which is why removing it has made no difference?
  18. My BMI was also 34. My PCP also told me it was too dangerous and I should just eat less , exercise more etc. I don't like being told I can't do something so I thought Sod you and made an appointment to see the specialist myself. The specialist thought i was a perfect candidate and more likely than most to achieve 100% success because of having the lower BMI. Yes you may have lost weight in the past but have you kept it off? Obviously not. Plus as you get older it gets harder and harder to shift the weight. I wish some of these PCPs would just open their eyes and realise how hard it is. If they have never had a weight problem then they cannot possibly understand. I would go and see another Dr.
  19. I agree that you are too tight and that you need some taken out so that you can eat a wider variety of foods. As you can see being too tight doesn't work, you don't lose. You are probably consuming more calories than you realise as calories are easy to drink. Have a small unfill, start eating a wider variety of healthy foods and see what happens.
  20. You should extend that to do not google lap band - I am sure you will find lots of negative stuff if you do that as well.
  21. Yes , hiccups are normally a sign that you have had enough(or too much) or possibly that you have eaten too quickly
  22. You have just had your op and one of the foods you are eating is chocolate? If you want to be successful you should be focusing on trying to make healthier choices. Eat yogurt, soup, Protein shakes, milk etc. You should be getting your mind in the right place so that you can make the correct choices going ahead. the easiest time to do it is now immediately post op when your motivation levels are high.
  23. This is the truest part of your message. Everyone has to find the right surgery for them and then work with it to obtain the optimal results. Failure to do so can result in your chosen surgery "failing"
