  1. That is pretty normal. The food is not going straight through to your stomach so you are not going to feel the fullness there. Full is now a feeling of pressure in the chest and that is a feeling you should try to avoid. Feeling like there is something in your throat is apparently because of pressure on the vagus nerve, it is not actually sitting in your throat but it sure as hell feels like it.
  2. I don't understand the rationale in your Dr taking everything out and refilling so slowly. If they have done tests and there is no slip or other issue then they should be able to refill far quicker than this. Have you asked why they are doing it this way? I would be demanding answers.
  3. I would opt for something easy like a Pasta dish or risotto. They are my go to dishes if I am not sure what else on the menu will work. Even with restriction they have never given me any problems whereas things like fish and lamb(slow cooked and very moist) have. You are likely to be able to eat a bigger variety of foods at this point than you will be able to later on. I would choose something that is low in calories but easy to eat.So for example if you do decide to go with pasta choose a dish with a tomato based sauce not a cream based sauce.
  4. OMG That is one hell of a lot that you have been through. Congrats on surviving and coming out the other side. I hope that things start improving soon and that you are finally able to focus on you and your health. Lots of support here whenever you need it. All the best.
  5. If your Mum is living with you she might wonder why a hernia op would require you to be on such a strange post op diet. That will probably be the hardest part to explain.
  6. I'd be worried if you weren't worried. It is normal to worry. But don't worry you will be fine. Banding is the safest of all the WLS and it is very low risk. If you stick to the rules and make an effort you will lose weight. All the best for Wed.
  7. Good news, we need more positive stories as sometimes those doing well don't say anything and then newbies get the impression that it is all bad.
  8. A lot of people get what is known as first bite syndrome. The best way to handle it is to have a warm drink before you eat to help relax the oesophagus and then take extra care with that initial bite. Wait a few minutes before you try to eat the rest of the meal and hopefully it will then go down OK. It is something that tends to happen more in the early stages of being banded and it improves the longer you have had your band.
  9. Speak to your Dr, he may be able to prescribe something that helps. It is probably a reaction to the anaesthetic - they normally make me nauseous too.
  10. I don't have any issues either, if anything I find capsules easier to take than normal pills.
  11. Yep they were all pureed. I actually made and froze them preop so that they would be ready for me when I needed them
  12. Sorry to hear that. It would be extra frustrating that he didn't listen when you pointed out the problem a month ago.
  13. I made lots of different veggie soups. Pumpkin, mixed veg, lentil and used different herbs/spices for flavouring. They were really thick and yummy and they tasted like real food.
  14. Breakfast was some sultana bran with l'f milk. Snack was a bowl of homemade veggie soup. Snack 2 - sultanas! Lunch will probably be some left over lamb rogan josh and I have no idea what I am cooking for dinner.
  15. What is the connection between the airbubbles and the lapband?
  16. It just shows that even when we think our bands are not doing anything for us they really are. When do you go for your revision Jean, hopefully soon? I think the worst part must be having to go through that post op diet thing for a second time and it is even stricter with a sleeve isn't it? Tammy you can only do your best. Try to snack on healthy stuff. Maybe take advantage and eat the low cal filling foods that you were unable to with a properly adjusted band e.g raw carrots, celery etc I only had my fill out (except 2ml) for 10 days and managed to not really gain, not sure how as I felt like I was eating everything in sight. I am now trying to consciously make an effort to not go crazy as it still doesn't feel like I have much restriction although it is definetly better than it was.
  17. I think you should switch Drs, it sounds as though the support that you have been getting is not what it should have been. They should not have made your band so tight that you were always sick, that is what would have caused your slip. You also should not have needed phentermine - it shouldn't be necessary with a properly adjusted band. I also do think that there may have been some expectation on your part that the band was a magic wand that would magically make all the weight disappear. This is not true, in order to lose the weight and keep it off a person has to do their part. Stick to the rules, make healthy choices, exercise etc. And this is true no matter what type of WLS you have. It sounds as though your Dr is antiband and would have preferred you to have the bypass from the beginning which may explain their abysmal aftercare. I would not be having my revision surgery with this Dr. I think you need to examine what you want, look at the pros and cons of each and then decide what kind of surgery to have. With bypass yes you will lose weight quicker but once the initial period of 1 to 2 years is over if you have not changed your eating habits then you can put it all back on. That is why many people end up having a second surgery such as band over bypass. Good luck in coming to the right decision for you
  18. Shocked that you have had your band for nearly 3 years and that you haven't received the help and guidance that you should have. The throwing up was probably from not adjusting your eating style. You do need to take small bites, chew well, wait between bites etc to make sure that throwing up doesn't happen. The suggestions above are great. If your Dr is not willing to work with you then I would be transferring to a new one. Joining LBT should help too, lots of people here with lots of experience to answer all your questions. Hope you soon start achieving the losses that you desire.
  19. I have never heard of Sugarland but it sounds like one place where a dieter would need all the help and support they can get!
  20. I think that you will need surgery to correct it as if left it could lead to further issues. Reflux, damaged oesophagus etc. But the best person to answer this is your Dr. You should go and see him so that you can find out what is going on. It may be a minor slip which may be able to be fixed by unfilling for a while.
  21. Hi Erin I was wondering what had happened to you.I remember you struggling a lot with the band initially. I am wondering if the problems that you have had are because you were relatively young and maybe not emotionally ready for the changes that would need to come with being banded. I think a lot of us hope(even though we are told otherwise) that the band will be a magical wand and that the excess weight will just fall off. Unfortunately that is not true and losing weight even with a band requires dedication and commitment. I think you need to go back to your team and discuss the issues that you are having. You probably need to work with a psychologist to get your head in the right place and a nutritionist to help you plan healthy meals. Some breakfasts can be easily prepared the night before or maybe you could have yogurt or something like that to start the day off well. Do not give up. You are not a failure. The band is still there and it is waiting for you to use it correctly. You are only a failure if you give up. YOU CAN DO THIS.
  22. Cazzy couldn't have said it any better. Ignore the negative Nellies and do what is right for you. I would also report the person that sent you the PM as to do that to try to put someone off is unethical - I wonder how many more people she has tried to scare off.
