Mom, I feel like I have lived your life with the weight loss issues. I think we all can relate. I too have been overweight for a long time. 15 years. Right after I got pregnant with my first child it all started. I quict smoking and it truly gave me the green light to eat. I have to say, I am starving. My fill was cancelled yesterday so I have it scheduled for next Wed. In the meantime, I'm working hard not to pick between meals, eating healthy, and working out. However, it's the same complaint. I'M NOT LOSING ANYTHING worth talking about. The weight loss is very very slow. Some weeks I don't even lose a pound. Bjean, you have a very good point. This is a 2 year plan. I need to stop looking at the small picture of every week or even monthly. I know the weight will come off, it's just so frustrating when you don't see the scale move in the direction you want. What's even more frustrating is the scale goes up much easier than it does going down. We'll just keep plugging away.

Want2lose, Thanks so much. That was the post.

Sweetsue, Thank you for posting this. I read your post yesterday, and I was having a fill today. However, my time of the month came and I called my surgeon and asked if I should have a fill. He did not want me having a fill during my period. He reschedule me for next week.

Hi all, I was scheduled for a fill today. However, yesterday someone posted rules for a good fill. I can't find it anywhere. One of the rules was not to get a fill right before or during your period. Today, I called my surgeon's office and told them that I just got my period today. They cancelled my fill until next week. If it wasn't for that person who posted the rules for a good fill, I wouldn't have known the information. Evidently, my surgeon's office agreed with this. It was an excellent article. If anyone read that post yesterday and remembers where I could find it, let me know.

My best friend has recently seperated from her husband (5 months ago. ) It started years ago with the same crap. Verbal abuse and no affection finally took it's toll. He too, was playing the "I'm only hurting role" with anyone who would listen. She has one son in college and the other son is in high school. The younger son who lives home blames her as well b/c she had asked for the separation so it was her fault for breaking up the family. They were married 20 years this October. It's also very hard on all of us (the friends) We all went out every weekend and took vacations together as couples and families. In the beginning the husband constantly tried to put us in the middle. It was hard at first for all of our friends. It has been five months and she is much happier now. The kids have adjusted. She has met a very nice man who she dates on occassion. Her husband is also settled with the idea of separation and has been dealing with it much better. I think he even met someone. He is no longer talking to others about their marriage and he's not playing that "poor me" role. I think it will take some time for all of you to adjust to this. Your husband doesn't seem to want this and he's probably realizing that he had a lot to do with your decision even though he's blaming you. I wish you all the luck. And, I'm so sorry that you're family is going through this tough time.

em1125 replied to LA chula27's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
7 lbs the first week. It slowed down drastically after that. -
CONGRATULATIONS!! I know exactly how you feel. I went through the entire process including hiring an attorney. And now it's all behind me as it soon will be for you. The best of luck to you.

I have read all of your posts. Very interesting. You all have very good points. It comes down to your own personal journey with WLS. Whether you decided on WLS because of physical, mental, health, vanity or all of the above reasons, that's your decision and your right. I am very happy to say, I had WLS for all of the above reasons. Health reasons first but as the weight comes off, it's a wonderful feeling looking in the mirror and liking what you see. Good luck to all of you.

HopeWorks, Every surgeon is different. I get my first fill Thursday late afternoon. For the first day after a fill, liquids. The next day, mushies and then the 3rd day back to a normal solid diet. That's my surgeon's requirements. I recommend you call your doctors office to find out.

Bjean To add your ticker to your signature box. Do the following. 1st- create your ticker 2 - Go to bb code and highlite http://.... ( highlite to the next I hope that's clear. DO NOT COPY URL. 3. Hit edit copy 4. go to quick links and scroll to "update your signature" 5. Hit edit paste to your signature box and hit save signature. you will see a bunch of codes in your signature box. ignore and come out of LBT. Go back into LBT and your signature box will have the ticker you created. I hope that's clear. Try it.

Great Job. I think that's a great idea. It's a good kick start before you get banded. I also think that when you diet pre-band for a short time, it's very helpful post band so that you don't feel like your missing something. You're well on your way to a healthy lifestyle. Good luck.

YellowRoseKnows, My nutritionist from my surgeon's office said after one week out. However, not to eat a lot of it b/c of the sugar content. So if you eat one that's sugar free or low in sugar, that's fine. I do enjoy my frozen yogurt. I did eat more of it when I was on mushies. I needed to be creative with the mushie stage and yogurt to me was a nice treat. Now that I'm on solids, I don't eat it much. I'm just enjoying eating normal again or as normal as I can eat. Regards,

Hi all, I think I need some help. I didn't think much of it for the last few weeks post op. I just thought I may have had a sore throat. I know it's not a sore throat b/c it's not going away or even getting somewhat better. Anytime I swallow, the left side of my throat hurts. It's very annoyiny and I worried that it's my esophogus. I could be wrong. I don't have a fill and I'm 1 month post op. I've had this problem for about 2 1/2 weeks. Please help.

Are we creating a new ticker? How are most people doing it. Are we doing it by weight or by pounds lost. Let me know.
-
It developed later on. However, it has been getting better as the days go on. I'm being more mindful on a daily basis to see if it's getting better. I think it is. Some days it does bother me. Other days, I'm fine. I'm seeing my surgeon on Thursday. I will ask him if he thinks it's the band. Thanks for getting back to me.

Congratulations. Wishing you and your family the best of luck. Enjoy!

sorry, my finger hit the reply button before I was done. Like I said, I'm sticking to about 900-1000 calories per day. At times I feel like I could eat more. I guess the fill will help that. Good luck.
