  1. Everyone's magic #is difference. I think the first fill that I actually had restriction is my 3rd. I agree with Elfiepoo, you need to get more fills more often, even if it takes writing down what you eat to show your doctor that you need more restriction.
  2. What rice do you use with the band? I really miss rice as I have tried rice and failed with the band.
  3. I drink up until the minute I eat. eventually drinking while eating will be painful. You can also dialate your esphogus as well as all the above.
  4. Gosh that sounds good! I got some pyrex glass containers at walmart. I also use the snack size ziplocks to pre-measure my food so I can just grab a snack and go.
  5. after my experience yesterday with prolapse, no way would I consider self filling!
  6. jachut-McDonalds's have two things I can tolerate. Their fruit and nut salad is great(I pick out the nuts), as is their yogurt Parfait. Minimeme-I agree with you on the Beans. I ended up going to the store and getting fat free refried beans. I think that has helped alot!
  7. Jamba Juice sounds as good as Robeks. I do an Orange juice smoothie with NF frozen yogurt, banana's, strawberries with a shot of protein:)
  8. I had rarely eaten out let alone fast food but since I am sick DH offered to get me dinner tonight. I know between meeting clients and the fact that DH will probably do the same tomorrow foodwise I need some suggestions. I ended up with taco bell's pinto's and cheese and it really was quite filling and good. Other than than I do Protein shakes from Robek's which I love. What are some choice fast food choices that you make and that you would recommend to another bandster?
  9. When I go out with friends I always precut my food. That way even if I am not paying attention I know my bite would be manageable.
  10. Good points! I never had bp,or cholesterol issues but I did have borderline sugar that is now normal. I think I plan to float between 145-150. Once I get there I can always change my mind!
  11. Tell me about your issues with slippage? This morning I was unable to drink water and found the same thing, that my band had totally closed off my stomach. why did you have to have a revision? Trying to find some answers here. Thanks!
  12. The nurse said he hated that so many people focus on the scale and not on the look and the feel. He mentioned another patient that worked so hard to get to 100 pounds and he said she almost looked gaunt. to be honest I wondered even before this nurse said anything. DH wants to see me at 135, I would be happier at 145, I don't want to have to struggle to maintain this tiny number. As for working out I work out 5x a week doing weights and cardio, its amazing what exercise can do to your body!
  13. Isn't it sweet! my 8 year old is so encouraging and does the arms thing too. We hit a spell about 3 weeks ago where his classmates were saying he was fat and his legs were too big. According to this classmate it made sense because his(my son) mom was big. Ryan says that his mom used to be big but isn't anymore. I had to chuckle! For the record my son is a blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do, and ranked 16th in the nation for track and field. He has not an ounce of fat on him. It is incredibly sad how early this starts and somewhat unexpected since he is a boy.
  14. on the BMI scale? When I went in for my unfill this morning the nurse I saw didn't even recognize me. He suggested that I stay where I was but my BMI would still barely put me in the overweight category. I planned to lose about 20 pounds, the nurse highly suggested that I stop(my BMI is now 27.4 from 38.6). Wanting others input. At the moment I am 5 foot 6 inches and I weigh 163 pounds, and between a size 8-10. Before banding I was 227 pounds, and squeezed into a16 though I should have been an 18. Wanting to hear what others thought processes were.
  15. My son's birthday party this weekend and we served pizza. I ate about a 1x1 piece of it and it totally hit the spot. i have a great "pizza" recipe that uses chicken as the crust. We love it.
  16. you would be shocked about how a small fill can make all the difference. You are doing great! 14 pounds after heading out of the holidays is great! Pre band all I would be able to hope for is maintaining AT BEST. Our Subway does a special diabetic sandwich in which they hollow out the inside bread so you aren't eating quite as much carbs. I tend to do this for my husband because I worry about his eating habits. Do enjoy to some extent some of these things you are able to eat. I miss bread, steak, etc. My fill tech told me to enjoy these things that I wouldn't be able to eat for too much longer. I wish I would have listened.
  17. I was banded in May of 2009 and have lost 65 pounds. I am about 10-15 pounds from goal. This is a sample of three things that I tend to eat for each meal. I will only do a Protein shake once a day: B- A.granola with FF vanilla yogurt B. cottage cheese with manderin oranages C. Protein shake L- A. salad with grilled chicken and dressing for dipping on the side. Salads have good greens that have some nutrition to them such as spinach B. Hummus with veggies or crackers c. chicken salad lunch kit D. A-protein shake B. baked chicken with FF dressing for a dipping sauce c. I tend to eat parts of my families meal. If I make spaghetti with meat sauce I will do a bit of the meat sauce and skip the noodles.
  18. I agree dime size may be a bit too bit, but also suggest you try to dip your chicken in a sauce of some type. The person that does my fills suggests to try this as it helps the meat go down. I sometimes do fat free ranch dressing as a dip, sometimes I do cranberry sauce. Is your chicken reheated? I can not do left over chicken, it is way too dry after its been reheated, no matter how I cook it or reheat it. Finally I can't do eggs either, I never thought I could miss eggs.
  19. Sounds like your body may be storing. 600 calories is not enough for you in a day, especially if you are working out. I suggest you add a breakfast, nothing too intense but something to jump start your metabolism in the mornings, even if it is a premade shake. you are doing great! Kudo's to you for working out already, i used every excuse in the book before I finally started working out regularly!
  20. I think some do, but only temporarily. I used to get Advanced Protein shakes from costco. I really like the taste better than muscle milk, but I noticed that consistantly I gained a pound every day I would have one of these shakes. the pound would be gone within a day or so so I chalk it up to extra sodium. We also regularly make shakes. I have to be really careful of what we put in it. I use ff frozen yogurt and low fat Peanut Butter. I've seen some smoothie king shakes that are over 1,700 calories so you must make sure you aren't drinking a high calorie meal.
  21. Joke or not this made me think. I can count the amount of friends I have lost through this. A few were heavy, the others I think aren't happy that I no longer make them look better since they are no longer standing next to a heavy person.
  22. I went into have my band checked this morning. I had a fill last Monday and as of today was down 8 more pounds but felt horrid. I think the prolapse was worse than the surgery itself. Honestly it was worse than childbirth in my opinion. It had gotten to the point that I couldn't even get Water down. The prolapse was quite bad(I had a stomach virus and my fill tech also felt like I may have been a tad tight). I had 3 cc's of the 9.5 cc's of my band removed, and while under flouro it was already improving. So now my question is how do I keep my weight in check now that I don't have total restriction. I was told to do soft food for the next few days, and I can progress from there. Anyone gone through this that could lend some support?
