  1. These sandwich thins are great! They don't get stuck (for me) if I toast them lightly first. I love them... almost too much! Pepperidge Farms also makes some called Deli Flats, I believe.
  2. Tina, I know, it's frightening when you first start experiencing fibro fog, because you do start thinking about dementia and Alzheimers. But, not to worry, it is a real condition linked to FM. Here is just one of many articles written about it: How Fibro Fog Clouds Thinking and How to Break Through It - Chronic Pain - Health.com Cheers!
  3. I like the Breakstone's 2% High Fiber cottage cheese that comes in a 4-pack. I mix one container (1/4 cup) with 1 small container of ready-to-eat sugar-free Jello. Sounds sorta strange, but it is really good! Got the idea from someone on LBT a few months ago. Orange Jello with the cottage cheese is reminiscent of a creamsicle. My favorite is black cherry. Yum! Never thought of yogurt and cottage cheese. Sounds interesting! I definitely want to try the ranch dip and yogurt next time I have to bring something to a party.
  4. Wow, you look great, John!! And how sweet of you to give your dw a surprise party.
  5. I'm eating at least 60, per my surgeon's suggestions.
  6. Taz and Want so bad, what you very well might be experiencing is called "fibro fog." It is a problem that naturally happens just from having fibromyalgia. I've had it from the beginning, but some people don't develop it right away. Just like the symptoms of FM, it can ebb and flow. It is the worst when I don't get a good night's sleep or I'm having a flare-up. When that happens, I can't remember things -- especially where I put things (grrrr) -- and I cannot "find" words when I'm speaking. That's embarrassing. I'll be talking to someone and suddenly forget an everyday word, and there will be this long pause before either I can remember it or the other person interjects and says the word. I feel like such a dunce when that happens! But, people who know me understand. And, yes, certain medications can make the fibro fog worse. I found that although Lyrica helps me, but if I take more than 150 mg. a day, I have a very difficult time concentrating at work and finding words. And that's a problem for me, because I'm an editor! Hang in there... together we can help each other. :smile2: Glad this thread was started!!
  7. Glad you're feeling better, Don. I also miss bread. I've discovered these wonderful little "Sandwich Thins" by Arnold, also called "Deli Flats" by Pepperidge Farms. I eat the whole wheat variety. They are delicious! I toast them lightly and because they are thinner than regular bread, but still have a chewy texture, they go down better but also satisfy the chewy bread need. Even my 5-year-old son likes them! (And he's very picky.) And I agree with Cathy, a chicken cooked with the skin and bones is much moister. We eat a lot of rotisserie chicken, without the skin. I especially like Peruvian chicken. Mmm-good! I have troubles with other kinds of chicken unless I put some type of sauce (e.g. salad dressing) on it to moisten it. It's definitely up there with bread as one of the major sticky foods. Oh, and scrambled eggs -- get stuck every time. Go figure! This is all a learning process. Thank God we have each other to lean on and learn from! Hang in there, and good luck!
  8. Mmm... I love cabbage, Laura! I haven't had any in a long time. BTW, wanted to tell you that I found (and ordered) a new peanut powder today. It's from Byrd Mill, and it has no added sugar or salt, which PB2 has a little bit of. The real reason I ordered it is that it comes in 5 lb. increments, which saves a bundle of money! With shipping and handling and tax (which you only pay in VA), it is $30.56. For a 2-Tblsp. serving, you would get 80 servings out of 5 lbs., so the per serving cost would be 38 cents. Not bad! The nutritional info for 2 Tblsp is: 50 cal., 1.5 g. fat, 6 Protein. The nut. info for 2 Tblsp. regular Peanut Butter is: 190 cal, 16 g. fat, 7 protein. Hmm... which one do I want in my protein shake?? I'll let you know how the Byrd Mill peanut "flour" is.
  9. If my surgeon heard your symptoms, he would want you in his office immediately for a slight unfill. I went through the same thing last month, and it continued to get worse instead of better. I finally went in for a very slight unfill and the relief was instant! I will never live with that pain again. I say call your doctor now... don't wait! HTH :cursing: PS - I live in the DC area, too, so I understand the traffic issue, but I think this is a case where you should say traffic be damned, my health is more important!
  10. How are you feeling now, Don? I hope that was just a one-time episode. You were so lucky to go for 5 months without having a pb or sliming experience. They are awful, aren't they? I pace, also. I don't know why.... I just can't sit still when that's happening. Hope things have settled down and that you're doing well! :scared2::cursing:
  11. Wow,that's awesome, Sarah -- a size 10/12! :scared2: I wish I had the same thing happening, but I'm not. Just wanted to say way to go, girl! :cursing:
  12. Thanks, Laura. I will continue to pursue Stevia. I think I'll shy away from the one that contains sugar, though, as I've been off all white sugar since May. I'll do some research and find out which brand that is. Thanks again! :cursing:
  13. Way to go, Sarah! Don't worry, you'll be buttoning that suit jacket in no time! :cursing::thumbup::scared2:
  14. Yes, I am feeling better, thanks, Sarah! And you're right -- being healthy is what matters. I have gone down 1.5 of the 3 that I gained, so I know it will all be off soon. My problem now is NO restriction whatsoever. Last night I had 2 grilled cheese sandwiches and big bowl of grapes before I started feeling full. :huh2: That's like normal-person eating! Even though the bread was toasted whole wheat, there was no way I could eat more than one slice before, and last night I ate four! (And yes, I must admit, I was searching for comfort food because I wasn't feeling well. A salad would have been better, but that's not the point here :cursing:.) On the Way, hang in there, and don't push yourself to go back to work before you are ready! You want to make sure that the port heals properly in place and doesn't have a chance to come loose. If you have more time to take off from work, I would take it -- and lie down and rest a lot! :scared2:
  15. Thanks, Sarah! :cursing: Can't wait to see your pics, too!
  16. Yay! I'm so glad it's working for you, Sarah! And I'm so glad to see you back on here! :cursing: I've been wondering how you're doing. I don't think the Biotin is helping me with energy... she says as she sips her coffee. LOL :scared2:
  17. Laura, that's a great idea to buy the flavor extracts! Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out. I have tried stevia, but didn't like it. What brand do you use? I have heard that different brands sometimes taste different. I tried SweetLeaf. I'm reluctant to shell out more money for another box b/c it's so expensive if I don't like it. But, I really like the idea of it much better than anything artificial, so I'm willing to consider trying again. Thanks! :cursing:
  18. The woman at the nail salon told me to take 5,000 mg. of biotin a day to help with soft nails (which I have), and since starting on that dose, not only are my nails stronger, but my hair loss has slowed down tremendously!! :scared2:
  19. These are all SO awesome!! Congratulations! :scared2: I've been buying my jeans at a thrift store because I'm going through them too fast to justify the cost. There's a great thrift store near us where a lot of the clothes are new or nearly new, and I've never paid more than $6.99 for a pair of jeans! Definitely helps out with the budget, especially in this economy.
  20. John, you are doing great! I think I thought you were a golfer because of your ticker. lol You certainly get a lot of exercise in. That's fantastic. How much do you walk each day? I just bought a membership to the rec center, so I'm starting up my Water walking/jogging again. BTW, that's cool that you have a 55 Chevy. Would love to see a picture of it sometime!! :scared2:
  21. Once again, a fantastic week for you all! Rebecca, I'm having your kind of week. I'm actually up 3 lbs. though! :wink2: But I'm here to admit it, because gains are part of the process, and I can't let myself get down about it. I know it's only temporary. I'm joking now, that I'm back to being obese, though... by one pound. *sigh* What's a gal to do? My PA doesn't want me to get a fill, even though I can eat up to 2 cups of food and still be hungry -- yikes! She said I need to stop at 1 cup and just drink more Water in between. As I mentioned on another post, if I could stop eating while I'm still hungry, I wouldn't need the band! lol But, I agreed to try it. Meanwhile... did you just hear that noise? That was my stomach. I'm sure you can hear it several states away. Keep up the great work, everyone! :scared2::thumbup::w00t:
  22. Thanks for the words of encouragement, everyone! I need them, because I got on the scale today (for Friday weigh-in) and I am up 3 lbs. :wink2: Granted, it's a bad time of month and I've been eating a lot of salty food, but it's still a bummer to see. Yet, I know it is all part of the process, so that's why I am owning up to it! :w00t: Rebecca, if you are hungry like you describe, you definitely need a fill. Don't hesitate to speak up for yourself. If we stick together, we'll all get there! :scared2:
  23. Ok, since I'm having a plateau week, I need to remind myself of some NSVs to keep me going! Come join me -- tell me yours! :sneaky: Here's one of mine -- I can wear heels again!! And I love it! Now, granted, I'm not wearing 4" spikes like I used to in my early 20s, but I'm no longer living in my Crocs, either. :frown: Never thought I'd ever be able to do that again. Hooray!
  24. Congratulations, untfluter, that's great!
  25. Just had to share some great new foods that I have tried recently. You are probably aware of these if you ever read the thread "What Did You Eat Today?" But if not... PB2 - It's powdered peanuts that you can either reconstitute with a little Water into Peanut Butter spread, or you can add to a chocolate Protein shake to make the most delicious peanut butter cup shake ever!!! Best of all, for 2 Tblsp. it only has 53 cal., 1.8 g fat, 5.6 g. protein. And it blends right into your Protein Shake -- much better than regular peanut butter! Here's a link for the cheapest place I found it ($3.99/jar): Bell Plantation PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter DaVinci sugar free Flavored Syrups -- YUM. I bought three flavors: chocolate, English Toffee, and coconut. They're great in Protein shakes, coffee, milk, etc. The best thing is they don't have any sugar alcohol in them (which, if you don't know, causes a lot of intestinal distress *ahem*). These are 0-calorie, made with Splenda. Here's a link to the gazillion flavors: DaVinci Sugar Free Syrups If you have any food finds that you'd like to share, please do! I love trying new things. :sneaky:
