  1. I know what you mean about all the scary posts on here. It can be very discouraging. I haven't been banded long, but, so far so good. I also was a self-pay. Don't let all the posts freak you out. I figure it's like anything...people are more likely to be vocal if they're complaining. While their complaints may be valid, there are hundreds of others who you don't hear from that are having a wonderful experience with the band. Good luck.

  2. eager to see everyone on wed. evening. dee, i will need directions to RR.

well, i am incredibly disappointed with my lack of commitment the last couple of months...sabotaging myself.

    put me down for +.8.

hopefully, after a fill this week, i can get myself back into the right frame of mind.

Deb, when are you going in for a fill? I get one tomorrow and each time I go into Dr. K's office, I wonder if the other people in the waiting room are people I've talked to on here. Either way, I'll see you on Wednesday at Red Robin.

  3. Hi ladies. Teachergirl, sorry you're going through so much. Things can only get better, right? Congrats on the weight losses to you both. I'm going for my third fill on the ninth, but not sure I need it yet. I have pretty good restriction. I just need to exercize.

  4. Hi Marcy. A few things I've found to be good about Dr. K versus others (just based on a lot of other threads on this site): 1. He doesn't make you do a liquid diet for weeks before surgery. He has you do high protien for two weeks and liquids just the night before. 2. A lot of people who have other surgeons have to be on liquids for weeks after surgery. Dr. K only has you on liquids for a few days. 3. Other people get tiny fills when they go in, meaning they don't hit that "sweet spot" for a looong time. Dr. K isn't shy about giving you the fill necessary for you to feel some restriction right away.

I've only had my band for a month and a half, but I've been very pleased with the process and with the doctor. Good luck in whatever you decide.

  5. Hello everyone,

I have a few concerns, one of my crutches in life is caffeine, I can't drink coffee, so I get mine through Diet Coke. I have read you can't drive ANY carbonated drinks with a GB. True or false? You're not supposed to have any carbonation because it could stretch the pouch, which would defeat the purpose of the band. You could try flavored ice tea for your caffiene fix.

Also read of problems with pills. Gotta crush them...yuck.

I work outside, so in the summer, I drink a lot of Water, can I still drink Water in large quantities? It would seem to be OK as water should not be effected by the band. True or false? Drinking loads of water is a good thing.

Any other things I am over looking?

    Thanks,

    Tom

Good luck with whatever you decide.
