I am a new member, obviously, and I was banded on 3/17/11. And I have GAINED 3lbs!!!! I spoke with my Doctor and he said not to worry that is probably Water weight and some swelling from surgery. My surgery was a little more involved since I also had a hiatal hernia repair which was not anticipated. My Doctor also told me that since my band has no saline I should not worry about a great weight loss and just focus on healing drinking Water, maintaining a 1000-1200 calorie diet and EXERCISE!!!!!
But, still, I worry, does this sound reasonable?
Any advice, suggestions, ideas?????
Thank you!!

Great advise! I have issues with head hunger and the feeling of the empty stomach.

This spot is great, I am 54 and feel as thought we have a lot in common. The younger girls at my work treat me like I don't quit no what I am doing. I also worry about my husband getting laid off and being replaced by a twentysomething. I look forward to getting plastic surgery on my arms and neck, figured I can stuff everything else inside my clothes. My name is karen and I had a lapband done 5/26/2009. Losing slow and study and that is the best way. Have had only two fills since I had a problem with dehydration in july which landed me in the E.R.
Have to motivate myself to exercise more.
Hope to talk to you all again.

Hi,I am 50, had my lap band surgery on April 15, 2009, and have lost 40 lbs. All of a sudden I am starting to lose a lot of hair. I normally don't lose any hair but now I am leaving hair every where. Has anyone else experienced this after the lap band surgery?
I have an appointment this week for blood work and I am hoping that I will find out what the problem is. If anyone can share their experience with Hair loss after surgery I would appreciate it.

Hello, ah yes, the old heir loss. I am going through my second bout of hair loss. I just had my lab work today. They gave me Iron to take and b complex or folic. It seems like when ever I have stress or surgery, my hair goes through a cycle of three month where it starts coming out in my comb
I read about it and they said the follicles die and regrow in three months. We are not alone. good luck oh, I am 54

Thank you for the great advise. I am 53 and waiting to get a band. My metabolism is so slow I have started cycling everyday on a stationary bike. My doctor is trying to convince me to get a bypass but I know I can be successful with a band.
I think HE wants me to have a faster weight loss so he will look good. I am sticking with the band. Thanks for listening.

Your doctor is right, your body goes through a lot during surgery. The weight will come off if you stick to your plan of drinking Water, watching calories, exercising and remember " Protein first". Best of luck, Karen
