Great news everyone, I feel so motivated reading your success stories... I was banded 12/11/2009 and so far lost 74 lbs .. still got a long way to go. but at least it's still coming off. about 3 lbs per week .. plus I'm swimming 3-4 times week also which I'm sure helps...

Seems like a lot of calories to me ... I eat about 1000 calories per day and have to struggle to eat that. Maybe your band not tight enough ?

What's your goal weight ? - I don't know how many times I've been asked this since my surgery in December 2009. I feel like saying "What do you think ? , I want to be thin again" . But instead I just keep saying .. 10 more pounds ... each time they ask, just 10 more pounds ! Because it's true .. Right now I've lost 74 lbs.. great... but I still need to lose another 140 for heavens sake ! so I can't look at that.. I just focus on the next 10 pounds ! Anyone else feel like this ?

I agree with Jack - "obese people are looked at AND treated differently" I've also experienced it ... many times... it's the world we live in unfortunately.

3cc seems like a lot but everyone is different I guess.. I only had 1.6 cc for my first fill.. but then I had 5cc in there to start with and didn't have first fill for over 3 months later.. I never had no issues with getting Water down ... just that since then I have only been eating 1/2 cup and I'm full ! and lost 7 lbs the first week ( as of last Thursday) so I am going to go again this Friday and get checked again.. I can't wait .... a PB .. is a Productive Burp .. it's when u eat something that u maybe didn't chew enough and it get's stuck and wont go down, u will have a PB and it will come back up .. I have not had this happen to me yet ... knock on wood... but I've read about it lots ... good luck with your fill and weight loss !

Congratulations ! Looking great ! I can't wait till I hit that mark .. hoping to get there in about 3-4 months .. fingers crossed ...

I can't believe it .. I had surgery Dec 11 ... and had my first fill last week.. and just in the past 7 days I lost 7 pounds ! That
's a total of 70 pounds so far ! I still have a long way to go .. but at least I can see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel now

I had my first fill last Thursday 3/11/2010 and this was after 3 months post surgery. I didn't feel a thing and when the nurse said she was removing the saline to see how much was there I was surprised because I didn't even feel the needle go in ! But what was a surprise is that I thought there was 3cc in there from surgery day but there was actually 5cc so she gave me a 1.6 cc addition and I got a good restriction.
I had been eating 3/4 to 1 cup per meal before and now I can only eat about 1/2 cup per meal. Almost seems a shame to make food and have to give half of it to the dog. By the way, my dog loves me now .. lots of leftovers !

This may be a dumb question but here goes :
I just had my first fill 3 months post surgery and was wondering if it's ok to go swimming tomorrow ?

Go for it, you will wonder why you didn't do it earlier ! I had surgery on Dec 1, 2009. and lost 60 lbs so far. I feel so much better already even though I still have a long way to go.. Congrats on making the right decision !

kimwash71112 , please don't chicken out again for your own sake ... I got banded on Dec 11... and pre-op lost 12 lbs .. and got weighed today .. and so far I've lost a total of 49 lbs since Dec 1 ! Whoo Hoo ! so go for it and stick with a good eating program ( no loads of cheetos and ice cream :rolleyes2: ) and you will not be sorry !

Congratulations on your success! You have inspired me for sure! I'm going swimming now and I was going to be lazy and not go cause it's cold out... but hey, it's an indoor pool Keep up the great work...
I'd be interested in knowing what kind of meals you have been eating ? what's been working for you ?

I didn't have a goal, I just tool the "wait and see" attitude. But I can tell you that 4 weeks after surgery and I have lost a total of 26 lbs ! Whoo Hoo !

Well, it's been 4 weeks as of yesterday since surgery and I've lost 26 lbs since surgery and 10 lbs pre-op diet for a total of 36 lbs in 6 weeks.. I slowed down to a good rate last week with a loss of 3 lbs and I started swimming last night and plan to swim at least 4-5 times a week for 30-40 mins. So far so good ! I havn't had a fill yet but I'm due to see them this Friday to see if I need one. What do you guys think ? How do you know if u need a fill ? I'm still feeling full after eating a small amount so I think that's ok..

I like the Campbell's Soup at Hand Creamy chicken Soup and I added a little Buffalo Wild Wings hot sauce in the soup and it really tastes GREAT ! Just thought I'd share this ! Try it, you may like it.

Thanks, the pain did go away after two days... even the next morning the pain was significantly less. I admit it did scare me though.. I'm not used to having dang foreign objects sewn inside me !

Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me out here. I was banded on Dec 11, three weeks tomorrow. And this morning a little puppy I bought was chewing on a computer cord and I yelled at her and went to grab the cord real fast from a seated position and afterwards I felt a sharp pain in my lower left side ( I'm thinking where the access port is near) and still this evening and all day I have been in pain. On a 1-10 scale the pain is about 3-4... But I'm afraid I may have stretched the stitches from the access port where it's sewed to my abdominal muscles ? Has anyone heard of this happening before ?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a Happy New Year y'all !

Way to go bud ! I'm also on my liquid diet, day 6 and have lost 14 lbs ! I was hoping for maybe 5 lbs ! Awesome ! Good luck to you !

Thanks a lot for the great information ! I realized I have lots of fat stores to rely on I was just concerned .. I've never heard of 500 cal a day... I've heard when people are on 1000 cal/ day they should have Doc supervision... Thanks again for the info... I'm looking forward to stepping on the scale in another week !

I just had surgery last Friday 12/11 and I'm on a 2 week post-op diet. But here is what I don't understand. I am to have three 6-7 oz Protein Shakes a day, chicken broth and Water or crystal light for addition fluids and maybe apple sauce or Jello pudding for in-between Snacks... What I don't understand is that I am drinking the three shakes as regular "meals" to get my Protein, then maybe 2 cups of home made chicken broth, and 1 jello pudding each day ... maybe .. 500 cals/day .. It just don't seem like enough calories to survive.... but I am stuffed .. I can't eat/drink anything else.....
Is this normal ?
Thanks

Well, I had my surgery yesterday. I only had 3 hrs sleep the night before because I worked afternoons so needless to say I was really tired. Dr. Benavides pre-op team made me really comfortable and then the anesthesiologist gave me some "happy medicine" to help me relax and the next thing I remember I was waking up. I thought I had dosed off and I said "I guess we are ready to have surgery now ? " and the nurses all laughed and said "no , you are all done".. Was I ever surprised.
I had a little pain mostly where the port was so they have me a shot of demoral and 15 mins later a shot of morphine. They said I was supposed to force myself to walk for 5 mins every hour but it was hard to do that because I needed sleep... but I would walk around as much as possible.
I got up this morning (2nd day) and I'm still a little sore but I don't want to take any of the strond presciption meds he gave me because it will just make me sleep for 4 hrs each time. So I think I will use some of that liquid tylonol I bought. I just had my first chocolate shake (6oz) and could barely finish it. This seems weird.
Well, that's all for now... I hope things get better in the next few days... I hate being this immobile.

Congrats on your first 100 lbs ! that's awesome .. from reading other posts people say it takes a long time to get over being fat in your mind ... even after a couple years of being at goal weight, they said they still "feel" fat mentally.. I have to agree with them.. if you've been overweight for many years as many of us have, it will most likely take a while to mentally adjust .. I'd say just live for the day, enjoy the weight u have off... and set your sights on your new goal and don't worry about anyone or anything .. just live for YOU !
