Theory About Highly Intelligent Fat People

omg, you are me. i am a very well educated and professional individual. i too struggle with the whole house thing because of my perfectionism. i don't like to 1/2 clean and if i can't do it right, forget it. my closets are mostly empty and the stuff is cluttered all over the house because...i'm not shoving it in the closet. How insane is that? Clean, mostly empty closets and clutter everywhere. i'm not sure how this would apply to my weight gain history though. I think mine is for different reasons other than perfectionism. Anyway, glad to hear that there is someone out there who feels the same way as I do about having two selves.
  2. my dr. had me do instant carnation breakfast (no sugar added) for 8 days prior to surgery. i was so worried about being hungry that I started shrinking my stomach two weeks prior to this. The first week I just did smaller amounts. the second week I did carnation throughout the day and one very small meal at supper and carnation for evening snack. the third week it was straight carnation. i was hungry some but not like i feared. it was true that after three or four days of straight carnation, the hunger went away, lightheadedness, etc. if i can do it, you can too. i had major anxiety about this but i made it through. it may have had something to do that i started early and had some control over it. i don't know.

    Why is this happening now?

i have been on prilosec for about 8 years. if i missed a pill, i knew it. i was banded May 31, 2006 and haven't needed it since. i would just take things as they come.

    My surgeon is a newbie

My doctor reported that he'd done around 30 lap bands. He is a general surgery doctor at Vanderbuilt University in Nashville, TN (a teaching hospital). His specialty in which he had done thousands of surgeries is major stomach/gastric surgerys...none weight loss related. He was highly recommended as a surgeon and was told in comparison to what he typically does, a lapband was minor to him. He has been very good to work with thus far. I was banded on May 31, 2006.

    snot ball?
  6. great. i hope i didn't come across rude. was just trying to think what the insurance company might think. it is soooo tough to lose the weight. that's why we're getting the help, huh? it's such a delima because if you lose the weight then they may say let's just see if he/she keeps it off. then you're still in the waiting game. if you gain weight they may say you're not trying. catch 22. hang in there.
  7. one thing of concern. i agree with everyones comments above but i'm also concerned about GAINING the weight. the insurance company may view that as you are not trying at all. if you try and at least stay relatively the same that's one thing but gaining may not look good. the band will do a great deal for you afterwards to lose the weight but there is still a lot of work on your part to do.

    pressure in throat

thank you for your responses. i did end up going to the ER because I was quite dehydrated. they finally got the iv started in my foot because they couldn't find a vein because of the dehydration. while there, i learned that the pain was normal and so i've just being dealing with it. again thanks
  9. i got the lap ban on May 31, 2006. Yesterday and today I'm feeling so much pressure force up into my throat anytime I move from sitting to standing, etc. and also after sipping on liquids. I also am having a lot of burning sensation type of pain underneath and around my big incision. i'm a little bloated right there. the incision is slightly red. is this burning pain normal at this point? Does is digress over time and how much time? Help!!
