  1. Hi

Ask you doctor to do a sleep study to see if you have sleep apnea. Most of over weight people have it put don't know it. I was one of them. I you have it that better your chances in getting approved. I am tri-care prime. I was 100+ overweight, have astma, joint pain, and sleep apnea. What's one more test if it is going to put you one step closer to you goal of WLS. Good luck. Stay positive. Think happy thoughts.

  2. Hello

Just had surgery 4 days ago. Filling pretty good so far. Have gas pain in the shoulders but no pain anywhere else. Started full liquides today, having hunger pains. lost 20 pounds before surgery, don't kmow how much I have lost since. Good luck.

  3. I have BCBS of Wyoming and I'm desparately hoping that I get approved. I have sleep apnea, my feet are always killing me and heart disease runs in my family and with sleep apnea that alone puts me at a 40% higher risk of getting heart disease. I'm really hoping and praying that I get approved. I've filled out all my paperwork. For those that have had the Lap Band and lost a good portion of weight. Is the excess skin just as much an issue for banders as opposed to gastric bypass patients? I'm nervous and excited and I just want to be healthier and lose the sleep apnea.Any info I can receive would be so appreciated.Renee

    Hello CreatingPspFun

Stay positive. The sleep apnea will help with the approval. The mask is a pain the the rear put it will help you. I just had surgery 4 day ago. All of the stuff that the insurence company put you though is worth it in the end. I just had to do the sleep study (didn't know I had sleep apnea). go to a seminar, family have history of heart problems is I had to see a heart doctor, nutritionist. but stay positive. Good luck

  4. We just recently went on spring break. I met up with a couple of friends that I hadn't seen in a while. I was so amazed at how good they looked. Both friends had lost about 70 pounds. Naturally I asked them what they were doing to lose the weight. Both friends had the lap band procedure. I had inquired about the surgery about 2 years ago, but didn't pursue it because my insurance wouldn't cover it. My friends and I had several discussions about the procedure, their new lifestyles, and insurance. I have found out that my husband's insurance now covers the surgery. Woohoo!!!!! Guess what. I am going for my initial visit on the 5th of May. I am hoping things move quickly. I am so excited to finally have hope at weight loss. I am a bit nervous, but I think it is more of that giddy excitement mixed with emotions of a new adventure. I can't wait.

    Hello breakingfree

You are going to fill more and more nervous and excited as you get closer to the approval . All of the emotions that you can posible go through you will. Just do everything that the doctors tell you to and you will be ok. Just had sursery 4 days ago. the new me is just around the corner. Good luck to you on your new adventure.

  5. Ok, after reading the many threads on this site for the past hours and hours, I guess I could have basically answered my question myself.

I was under the impression that the surgery was 25,000 and that was just an unrealistic amount for me.

BUT, having surgery in Mexico seems like it is cost effective and is something that I would really be interested in. I have already mentioned it to my fiance.

So, now I must do research on the procedure being done in Mexico. Any suggestions and recommendations would be appreciated.

I think I have read of Dr. Kuri and another Dr. that names starts with an O.

I am already started to get excited, I wish I would have looked into this months ago!

    Hello DeterminedSoul

I just had my surgery 4 days ago. I was insurence approved. But the doctor that i used also to selfpay. The total package is $8,500.00 with fills for one year, office visites and all of the other things that you will need for that year. Check with some doctor offices in your area and go to some of the simamars they can give you alot of information. Good luck keep us posted.

  6. Hi! Here's how my days usually go:

    9:00 am - Protein smoothie - 200 calories

1/2 banana, 1/4 c. strawberries, 3oz. unsweetened almond milk, 3 oz. unsweetened pineapple juice, 2 scoops Protein Powder, splenda & ice

    12:00 pm - Ham & Swiss roll up - 120 calories

I get the deli ham and cheese so I'll enjoy my little meal more... it fills me up. About 2oz of ham wrapped in a thin slice of swiss

    3:00 pm - Adkins Protein Shake - 160 calories

I love the milk chocolate delight flavor

    6:00 pm - chicken & lowfat cheese - 140 calories

I'm allergic to seafood, so I've gotten really friendly with the 4.5 oz. cans of chunk chicken. I usually drain and heat it in a little pan and make it many different ways - with a little bit of marinara topped with a grated low fat string cheese; or with lime, garlic and cumin topped with low fat shredded cheddar; or with a little pesto & parmesan... all taste great and are satisfying. Calories vary, but all of these are between 120 - 180

    8:00 pm - pizza (that's what I call it  - 90 calories

10 turkey pepperoni topped with low fat string cheese (i cut one into 10 pieces) I pop it in the microwave for a few seconds to get it nice and melty

    9:00 pm - SF pudding & FF Whipped Cream - 90 calories

I vary this one up, sometimes it's Sugar Free Chocolate mousse, sometimes it's a fruit cup... just depends on how many calories I have left for the day.

That's about 800 calories for the day, which is where I try to stay, I hope this helps anyone looking for some new ideas!

Wherebdo you get the turkey pepperoni from?

  10. My name is Renia, (Renee)I am a 40 years old female who has decided to have weight loss surgery as an instrumental tool in my battle in weight management. I have a wonderful husband, Kendall (Ken), who supports me in everything that I do. We've been together for 25 years and married for 21 ½ years.I have three (3) beautiful children, Chandralyn, age 10, Adrian age 5, and Nichole age 3. I am a house wife.

I decided that I am really not happy with my weight. :thumbdown:Regardless of all the things that I have tried, nothing seems to work. I am a yo-yo dieter, always able to lose but never able to maintain any weight loss. In fact, I always gained back more than I lost. I have so many fun things I want to do with my life. I need to lose about 140bls to get to my heathy weight. My surgery is on the 22nd of April 09.

I am on my liquid diet now, thired day. It's going ok. I cheated the first two days. Day one with 4 ruffle chips, day two with the skin off a chicken thigh (skin of chicken is my down fall).

    Lets be buddies.

  13. Hello Mammasita8

Welcome to LBT. I just was approved last month. Had the sleep study done. I have sleep apnea. My surgery is on the 22nd. The test consist of going to the place to sleep over night, get hooked up to alot of wires. You are in a room by your self. Go to sleep the next morning you get up, if they tell you to come back, you have sleep apnea.

  14. Congrats on your surgery date. My surgery date is the 22.

The wait will be worth it. You should go to the main forums page and find the April 2009 Bandster thread and join in with us. They will be able to help you along as well since we will be having the surgery in the same month
