    June 2006 Band Crew

Just a quick note so say I made it through. I'm still at the hospital, hoping to be released today. I have a little port pain, but when they give me pain meds, its makes me naseous. I wish my view was like Beechee's. I have a lovely view of Tijuana! Mainly the Costco outside my window. HA! There are 4 others here with me- 3 men, 1 woman. I even drove across the border! Well...that's all for now. Thanks for your prayers and good thoughts.

Liz- I'm butting in on your comment to Janelle... You aren't the only one doing this on your own! I am too. I am travelling by myself and doing this alone. But we aren't really alone cuz everyone here is with us in spirit. I'm gonna take pre-op pics tonight and maybe I'll post them. Or maybe I'll wait til there is progress to share.

I think ladies get pregnant because your hormones go all wacky with weight loss. I have been doing pretty good on the pre-op diet- down 6 lbs. I can't have anything after 10pm tonight. I promise to walk!! It really assures me to hear everyone doing well. Randi-Last night I was watching TV and it seemed like every commercial was for food! I had the remote so I just quickly clicked away! Don't look!

Today is Housecatgirl's surgery! Best of luck! I'm thinking of you and praying for you and looking forward to your update. I am scheduled for tomorrow! On a side note, there was a link to an article about a half ton man in Monterrey, Mexico on here and I can't find it. I just read he lost 200 lbs. on The Zone. I'm not sure if he decided not to band or if they want him to lose pre-band? Moderators?

I just called Dr. Ortiz's office and they said I could come down on the day of surgery instead of the day before! So I'm meeting the driver at the border at 8:30 am on Thursday. Then they will do my tests, do my operation and I will spend the night in the hospital. He said if I feel ok I can go home on the 3oth. If I need more rest, I can stay at the hotel Friday night. I'm hoping I feel well, so I can just come home! I know everyone says the hotel is nice and it's a mini-vacation for some, but I'd rather be home! From 10pm the night before surgery til time of surgery-no food or liquids, including water! That will kill me, I'm such a water drinker! Glad you are doing well Cutie!

    Pre-Op Liquids??? HELP

I am struggling with my pre-op diet as well, but when I awoke this morning, I am down 3 lbs. I figure, we will have to be on liquids and mushies for awhile after the diet, so might as well get our bodies used to it now.I've also been confused by conflicting information about length of diet, whats allowed, etc. But I think the doctor is looking at your age, weight, etc. when they instruct us. It's better to be safe IMO. It does get easier as days pass. Good luck!

Laura/Housecatgirl- Maybe we will see each other since your date is June 28 and mine is June 29! I was nervous at first, but now I'm just anxious to get it over with already!! I'm having a hard time with the pre-op diet too. I'm on the 3rd day, but it is actually the 1st day I haven't "cheated". I keep thinking of all the people who said they didn't do a pre-op diet, or just did 24 hours and they were fine, so I think, "Does it really matter?" But I promise to be good from here on out! Good luck to all Junebees. I hope those banded are feeling well and those to-be-banded are feeling great about their decision.

Janelle- How do they decide who goes in for surgery first? I will hate sitting around for hours. I guess I'll have my book. I'm glad you are doing well!

I was supposed to start my liquid diet today for 1 week pre-op. I ended up going out eating and drinking with some colleagues because we all got laid off today!:faint: I'll try again tomorrow. Thanks for all the reports from Mexico, that's where I'll be next week, so all the details help. I just need to practice my non-food coping mechanisms...they are quite rusty! Say a prayer 4 me.

I'm right there with ya lizzilo! I'm not scared about going to Mexico, because I was born and raised in SoCal and have spent a lot of time in Baja and speak some Spanish. My only worry is....should I drive in, take the trolley, park:confused: my car at the border lot? I'm not sure if it will hurt to drive home since I have a stick shift, but I don't think I'll want to sit on the trolley for over an hour either. I have one week to decide.

Hi all! Devana-what doctor r u using? My date is June 29 in Mexico too-Dr. Ortiz. I have a question for those of you who have already had surgery-How does it feel to drive a stick shift after surgery? I am going alone and debating whether I should drive myself. 12 days!

Congrats newly banded! In response to the pre-op diet, I have to do a 7 day liquid diet with Dr.Ortiz. I was going to use Kuri and he doesn't require a diet unless your BMI is 45+. I figure it will help since I'll be on liquids after for awhile. Might as well prep my body.

I made my decision, but I read the forums about PBs, slimes, erosion, unfills, etc. and I get FREAKED OUT! I am not the freak out type either. For all the negative posts, there are good posts. I appreciate everyone's honesty-the good and the bad. Anyone else nervous?:help:
