My aunt just sent this to me in an email: One glass of water shuts down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University study. Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day?

I wasn't trying to criticize anyone's way of eating. You've done awesome with your weight loss Bandit, it's just that my impression was when I had this surgery that I could eat a majority of the same foods as before, just less of them. But so many people can't eat bread, pasta, meat, etc. and it scares me because I don't want to live on protein shakes and yogurt.

Okay, this is what I was looking for. Before I was banded my idea was like Jachut-eat the same things just less. That's what I thought the band would do, which is a big reason I chose it. But so many people can't eat so many "normal" foods , like Lap Bandit's example of 2 protein shakes in a day. I'm just confused. I want to lose, but I don't want to have to eat soup, cottage cheese and protein shakes for the rest of my life.
  7. I am not sure I'm far enough out to answer the original question....but so far I'm glad to have a band. Regarding above quote, I live in San Diego, so that was one reason I decided on Mexico. I am close enought to go for fills. There are fill doctors in the area as well if I decide I don't like going down there for fills. I should be having one soon, so we'll see.

I didn't join the water challenge last time cuz I'm usually really good about water, but out of curiosity, I measured today. 90 oz. water 72 oz. other liquids(Crystal Light and decaf. iced tea w/Equal) It's only 8pm here, I may drink more before bed. I'm all for Christmas/holiday exchanges, June meetings, etc. I wanted to do the LBT cruise, but I'm not sure about work right now. I had 1300 calories yesterday and 1100 today. I registered at Spark, but I haven't logged yet, cuz I'm lazy in this darn HEAT! "Only" 96 today...cooler than the 113 of last week. UGH!!

Anyone ever done a 'colon cleanse' ?

I did a colon cleanse by http://www.lifeforce-intl.com and had none of the disgusting results here. Either it was an ineffective product or my bowels were clean!
  14. Congrats on your first fill Laura! Let me know how it goes. I've had a few good days of eating, so I scheduled a fill for the 3rd week of August.

Ok guys/gals............ I swear I am trying to be so good and solid food is proving to be a real challenge. Today I had a yoghurt for breakfast, a smoothie with protein powder for lunch and I tried to have a Lean Cuisine for dinner and it came back up. I only ate part of it and chewed and chewed. I didn't drink with the meal. I don't understand why I can't eat solid food! My scale hasn't moved in several days and I'm sure it is because I can't get calories in. Just go back to liquids? I'm afraid to try solids because I bought different foods to try and none of them are working out. I'm doomed to soup and jello.................

Your comment made me feel bad Barbara....I've heard a lot of people talk about eating thin crust pizza on here. That's what I did and I chewed thoroughly and had no problem. I had no idea that reheated pizza was some kind of no-no. I'm learning the limits just like everyone. But everyone always says that its different for each person, so how can you know until you mess up?

Ok people, I'm in. I just started solid food yesterday and I ate a small piece of pizza because I had family visiting. Everything was fine. Then today, we were reheating the leftover pizza and I thought...it went down fine yesterday....I only had like 2 bites and the pain started and I went to the bathroom and it came back up after some heaves, a lot of saliva and a lot of pain. Do you find that sometimes the same food works and sometimes it doesn't? Anyway, it sucks, but I'll learn the ropes of what my body can take. It is scary and makes me feel like I can only eat liquids and soft stuff for the rest of my life.

Ok peeps, I get real meals soon. Dr. Miranda says eat 3 meals a day but didn't mention calories. I know some people are using websites. Did doctors give you calorie recommendations? Today I ate like 800, but that is protein shakes, yoghurt, soup, etc. Do you just go by hunger until you get a fill?

    Exercise Today

Well, I've been wearing my pedometer and I read that 10,000 steps is about 5 miles. I did 9,000 today! Yeah! I'm trying to do 10,000.

I'm still around too. It's going slower than I hoped, but its going so I'm glad. I lost 8 lbs. before surgery and have lost 8 more since. Do any of my fellow Ortiz-ites know if he puts any fluid in at the time of the operation? I never asked because I didn't realize any doctor did that. My scars are healing great and I'm trying to exercise more. I do get hungry, but I finally get real food this Thursday! I hope everyone is doing good!
