    3 months out next week

Nice work! I wanted to just take a moment to caution you about P90X. My husband and I did the full 3 months, I broke a bone in my ankle and my husband tore a ligament in his shoulder. We are in our 40's but at the time, in very good shape. I just want to tell you to be really careful and if something doesn't feel right, don't do it. Good Luck!
  3. Hello All! I am looking for recommendations for shakes/soups/drinks and liquid/chewable Vitamins that I can use during my liquid, soft food phases after surgery. Here is the catch: I cannot eat ANY artificial sweetener. I can have Stevia, but only the real Stevia, not Truvia or other processed stuff. I appreciate the help!
  4. Hello All! Did anyone NOT give up coffee after gastric bypass surgery? My intentions are to give it up prior so I get the headaches out of the way before surgery, but was wondering if anyone had stories of NOT giving up coffee. Thanks!
  5. Here is what I would do: tell the family members that you are going to do it, and wouldn't they want to come with you to make sure you are safe? They'll feel guilty and it will go your way. They are trying to push you, via fear, to not do the surgery. If it was my family, I would sure as hell go, even if I didn't want them to do it, just so I could help. that's my 2 cents!
  6. I share your pain MindyMe! I am pre-surgery and have to be on a regimen of the max dose of Linzess and Miralax. It's the first thing that has worked in 15 years! good luck...linzess is awesome!

    Complication after complication

@@HappilyEverAfter44 how are you doing now?
  8. unfortunately, I have to use the citrate often. Grape is the best tasting, and I put it over ice. Drink it fast. IDK about castor oil, but it seems icky.
  9. hi all! If you had no restriction, how long would you have taken off from work? Full pay for the whole time... How long would you have said is the best amount of time off. I have up to 12 weeks fully paid time off for medical leave. I want to take what is optimal, and would love your opinion. Of course, I will do what my doctor recommends, but I want to see what you all thought. THANKS!

    Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

I have PCOS, which interestingly goes away with menopause. I had many of the symptoms and did two things...had a "thermal ablation" which is like cauterizing the uterus. I also had my tubes tied at that time. I then went on metformin and aldactone to lower my testosterone. It worked, acne cleared up, no bleeding, just crampy every month. The only thing that helped infertility with PCOS was a very low-carb diet. The diet would kick my cycle into normal and I would ovulate. I am currently waiting a surgery date for gastric bypass, and am formerly a bander.
  13. Hi! I am awaiting approval for GB and wondering about constipation (I know, ew, sorry). I already have pretty severe constipation, what works after surgery? Might it get worse? thanks!
  14. Hello All! Anyone have experience with Dr. Bagloo in Ridgewood, NJ they would like to share? Looking at her to do my gastric bypass. Thanks!
  15. Hello All, I was banded in 2009, had it removed in 2014. Awful, daily vomiting, etc. Is the gastric bypass better? How do you have to eat your food? Do you get stuck, like with the band? I am terrified of putting myself in the same situation as with the band, but I cannot seem to find exactly how you have to eat/chew/swallow with the bypass. Any info, even what your meals look and feel like would be awesome...Thank you for your stories!

    One week Post op update

Having had my band and port removed, the thing I would watch for is a hernia. I developed a hernia from the port site, and had a second surgery to fix it, and its back. I am revising to bypass, so once my weight goes down, the surgeon will repair the hernia, hopefully for the last time! Hope you are feeling well!
  17. According to my surgeon, the weight loss with a revision is all over the place, because of bad habits developed in dealing with the band. Could be? I think as long as you are going in the right direction put a focus on how you feel, rather than all on the number. Good Job on your weight loss!
  18. I also cannot have any artificial sweeteners, makes me feel "high." Disconcerting to say the least. So all the yummy Desserts, ice pops and shakes that everyone likes, no go for me. Thanks for this post!
  19. I have officially entered bandster hell and it sucks. I am hungry and trying to stick to the portions prescribed by the doctor, but it's very very very hard. Advice about how you got through it would be great. Thanks!

    Cymbalta question

Hi! I am new, so forgive me if this thread has been posted before. I am in the process of getting LapBand surgery and wanted to know how I can take Cymbalta after surgery. Does anyone know if it comes in a liquid or if the pills are small enough to be swallowed (about the size of a rapid release tylenol). Also, will the pills dissolve as they are supposed to? Thanks for any info you can give me!

    Suddenly Tight?

hi everyone! my dilemma is that I was filled and fine for a month. then two weeks ago I became much more tight for no reason. I thought it was from menstrual bloat, but its been two weeks. I cannot get anything solid down. Even chili gets stuck. I am ok with yogurt, Soup. I am to the point where I am vomiting daily from being stuck and in pain. I am thinking I should get an unfill but I am so curious why it would get tighter all of a sudden on its own. I did lose a bit of weight right before it got tight by doing a low carb diet, but I thought as you lose weight it gets looser? I lost about 10 lbs since my last fill. any thoughts?
  22. so, my band gets very tight around my period (first time this month) and then I cannot eat much, but am having the pre-peroid cravings. Kind of keeping me in check? Cosmic regulation system?
  23. since I use it as a meal, it is worth it to me even at full price. I put frozen blueberries in mine with a splenda...yum!
