  1. Hi there, I can tell you every day it get's better. I had mine done July 3rd and I sometimes forget that I had surgery. Once your body starts to adjust and your timing for food, Protein and Water is in sync and walking you will be amazed at how well you've adjusted. Good luck, it's a journey and I am loving every minute of my new learning and taking care of me.

It is encouraging to read these threads - apart from the pain, everyone seems positive.

Were any of you conversions? Anyone remove the LapBand and do the sleeve in a single operation? About to head down that road myself

  2. Hello guys im 25 years old and i weight 380 im trying to do the surgery and im already in the process but i have hard time choosing the right bariatric surgery, i want to do the sleeve because it looks simple and clean and less cutting but every one is telling me to get the bypass because they say ill lose weight quicker so im confused because im scared of the bypass so what im asking is will i lose alot of weight and fast with the sleeve surgery has any guy with the same weight range as me has had the sleeve surgery and succeeded with it

HI. I have had the band for 5 years but it has been fighting me for the past 2. I decided on a conversion to sleeve due to my aversion for major surgery/ replumbing. Hey, I can always "upgrade" later. And, all that being said, the LapBand removal and Sleeve are a major surgery anyway.

Seriously, speak to your doctor. A bariatric surgeon not just any surgeon. Find someone you can trust. I am 54 so could go either way, but don't feel like living on handfuls of tablets for the rest of my life, so am opting for sleeve as that apparently requires a Multivitamin and B12 supplements.

A friend who describes her previous self as "eligible for her own zip-code" now weighs 115 a decade after having bypass

    Best of luck

    Good luck with your decision.

  3. Have any of u tried the up24? I'm debating between the fitbit flex an up24, so any input would be great

not I. Had an Omron for 3 or 4 years then went to FitBit flex about 3 months ago. The Flex does not sense vertical movement ( steps etc ) but I don't care - would rather not have to remember to clip it on everyday

  4. Thanks for info , ill have to rethink my choices on those kinda devices.

I love my fitbit flex. Take it off about every 6 days to charge. Synchs with MyFitnessPal.com which I use for tracking calories. There is a design issue with the charging cradle - initially thought it was not holding charge then realized it was never charging properly. Jam some paper at the end to force contacts to touch

  5. wow, similar situation to say the least. Lost 40 lbs in the first year and have stayed the same weight (within 5 pounds) since then. I'm determined to get the next 35 pounds off before christmas to prove to myself I can do it. Any motivational techniques? food is the biggest player in weight loss but exercise matters also and time is always short. Just went for my first "run" in about 2 years. Hurts, sore, tired but ate a good dinner and am ready to get going again. Advice is welcome.

How it it going now? I lost 60lbs and stayed there and have been fighting the band for the last year. Mainly psychological I think. Anyway, this week I think I cleared that hurdle and decided I was tired of been a slave to food. So. Let's see how it goes. First goal. Another 25 lbs

  6. I agree with the suggestions. Lots of support and experience talking. I was getting PO'd as I sometimes experienced PBs - probably from not chewing, sometimes tablets etc. a friend told me about Papaya enzimes, a chewable tablet (I found them at GNC) Now, any issues and I chew 3 or 4 and the issue is resolved in a few minutes. Works for me

You are doing well. Deflate the band a tad and off you go. Good luck

  7. how are you going on the restart ?

I have got to the stage where i have gone nowhere (actually 5 pounds up) for the past 8 months or so. I am tired of fighting food, so made an appointment to have 0.1 cc removed as I think i might eat the proper foods IF i did not have to fight it. I am browsing the site to see if anybody else is having the same issues ??

    Good luck on you restart.

  8. CONGRATS JAYTEE.. well done mate.. now I better get going and follow the example you have set for us.

me .. 202.7 .. but .. i am leaving on a 7 day cruise on Sat .. so that could be interesting. I somehow suspect I will not be returning and finding myself in onderland.

  9. i have been absent for a bit, and need to get focused again. I have been bouncing 204 - 209 range.. dunno whats up. I went thru few weeks of eating below 700 or 800 calories a day, and am trying to ramp up the Cals. maybe next week is an improvement.

JT - i follow you as my role model -- so, keep it up mate.

  10. quick post, am really hectically busy.. However, after weeks of not losing, I am down to 207.9 .. at last I lost again.

The few notifications I have received (from this email list) tell me that some of our brethren have been battling and experiencing other hardships.

Our thoughts with you all, have a great week and keep the faith.

    k

  12. After ending up where I was 6 weeks ago, I went back and got a half CC.. now I have to drink so slowly that I sip 3 milkshakes and eat a few low calorie ice-creams a day (ok, only 2 days ago), but now I am down already ... YAY, on the move again.

    221.9 today

    Have a great week everyone
