On the Goochland side I'm just across the river next county over in Cartersville. On the Powhatan side I'm just west on rt. 60 on the other side of powhatan, I'm in Cumberland County.
Cool. I am in Goochland. I had a band to rny conversion on June 3. I will be happy to be a support buddy with you if you are interested. Who is your doctor?

Further in the middle, about an hour outside of Richmond in the country. Start liquids on Tuesday and syrgery is on the 11th. It's gotten close enough to be so real now, butterflies are flying????
Where outside of Richmond are you?

Awesome. I am actually in Goochland. Just had a band to rny conversion in June.

Hi. Just stumbled upon this thread. I am a Dr. Barker patient in Richmond. Had a band to bypass conversion on June 3rd. Looking for anyone local who wants to buddy up and share experiences.

Hi. I am 4 1/2 weeks post-op from having a band to bypass conversion. Looking for any locals for additional support.

I had this same problem. In dact, I am 4 weeks out and still have slightly discomfort there. My doctor said that it is because they have to cut a muscle there. And that it is stitched back together. It can take up to 6 weeks to heal.

I am 3.5 weeks out and once I transitioned from liquids to some solids I have noticed a stall. I am guessing it is because my metabolism has to catch up from being almost dormant the first two weeks.

I am sorry you are having this pain, but glad to know it is not just me. I am two weeks out tomorrow and the pain on my left seemed to be better until I did housework. Ouch, it made for a rough night.

I was banded on Oct 12 and have had one fill. I will get my second fill Jan 4. I have lost a total of 33 lbs. I feel good about my wt loss, not too fast, but certainly not slow. I just need to kick my exercise up a notch.

I too, was the same way. The three weeks between going on solids and my first fill was extremely hard. It has only been one week since my first fill, and although I am sure I need another, I do see a huge change in my hunger and the amount I eat. My weight loss has started again, and I am feeling better about it.

I was banded on 10-12-09. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired as well. A week after surgery the Dr. took out what little Fluid I had in my band because I could not get more than a sip or two of Water down at a time. It was really aggravating my hernia operation too. So now I am completely unfilled and waiting on my first fill, next week thank goodness! Fortunately, the 4 weeks on a liquid diet has helped me with not being able to overeat, but without any restriction, I have had to monitor how much I eat on my own.
I am loving the band, and will love it more when I get my first fill. 25 lbs down, more to go.

My surgeon never really indicated how long to expect to be out of work following lap band surgery. He said most patients feel better 3-5 days post-op. I had planned on a week, but they also repaired a hiatal hernia. It's been 5 days today, and I am still full of painful gas and some discomfort in the hernia and port site. So I was curious how much time other bandsters took off work?

I was banded yesterday, 10/12/09. Surgery went smoothly. They also fixed a hernia, that I didn't even know I had, around my esophagus and stomach. I am a little sore, especially around my shoulders from the gas, but no pain thanks to the disgusting liquid pain meds.
Good luck to the rest of the Oct. bansters getting ready!

I know that is a bummer, but you sound optimistic and know exactly what you need to do to get their approval. It will be here before you know it!

I personally don't care for any of them. However, I have become a fan of Soups, and put in a serving of unflavored Protein in it. I use Unjury unflavored. I just put my Soup, usually a broth or creme of something soup, and a scoop full of the protein in the blender to blend it up really good and heat. Just don't get the soup too hot or the protein sticks together and gets kind of slimy.

October 12th!

I am on day 5 and was starting to have food cravings. I came here to seek support. UGH! I hate Protein Shakes and do what I have to to get my Protein in, but really having a hard time getting in the calories in.

Thanks for all the great info. Guess I'm looking at 6 months, give or take. I'm not looking forward to all the insurance paperork, but guess it's worth it.

I have signed up to attend a seminar after researching options and many failed diets. Now I am curious about what to expect after the seminar and what kind of time frame I may be looking at until the surgery.
Any insight is appreciated.
TIA
