    Why Have surgery in Mexico?

I'm going to pray that we need our new ta-tas at the same time.. I can meet you there!! lol
  3. I don't understand why if a surgery is offered for a certain price that it means you are going to be, "chopped to pieces." I don't personally find that to be a realistic thing to say. It is extreme and frightening. These are surgeons. They go to school forEVER. They are qualified to perform bariatric surgery. Some doctors have many years of experience and some have less. If you have less experience your price may be less as to attract more patients to gain the years of experience you need to charge more. Weight loss surgery is BIG business, as are plastic surgery and dental work in Mexico. Anywhere, for that matter. If you are going to stay in a recovery house then the overall cost is less than if you stay in a hospital. I don't feel that it is fair to think you will be sliced and diced because the price seems, "cheap." These surgeons don't want bad press or a bad reputation...they all want to be seen as the best in the business so they can make more money and to attract more people to them. The best advice anyone can give you is to research the living heck out of several doctors and then choose one. Just my opinion

    Why Have surgery in Mexico?

I'm Canadian.. I went to Mexico because even if I could afford it, I don't even qualify for the sleeve here.. or in the US for that matter. I can't believe how much life can change for a mere $5600.00! I am going to go back to Mexico if my boobs disappear..lol
  5. I am rather irritated about the post-op diet plan because quite frankly there are 50 different planS!! I can't read mine like it is the bible when I have seen soooo many different ones. Some say three meals a day and to only have protein drinks for snacks. Some say 6 small meals.. some say only three meals and NO grazing! Grazing is the devil!! lol I can't see how eating little bits throughout the day could ever be bad. Some people say to write everything down and track your calories... but I don't want to bother with that.. that is why I had the surgery so I didn't have to do that anymore. The point was to have freedom from the diet grind, not be hyper-vigilent about food. Blech. No thanks. I guess I will just have to see what works for me. It would have been nice to see that we all have a very similar diet. It would make me feel like the post op diet was based on science and fact rather than surgeon opinion. That will be all...lol

    DR KELLY & TRISH -AWESOME!

I actually have a bit to say about all of this as well, but I don't feel free to share. I had a great experience just like Laura, but I did take issue with some things. I know perfectly well that the surgeons and coordinators(all of them) know about and read this site and quite frankly that makes me keep some things to myself. I wish everyone who goes to Mexico and safe and worrisome trip because that is what I had.. but that doesn't mean it was perfect. I'm happy that Laura shared her feelings BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!

    Confusing post op info!!

Thanks Tiff... much love to you

    Confusing post op info!!

I just wanted to mention.... this is all good info and I appreciate it But it doesn't really answer the question as to why there are sooooo many different post-op diet plans. It doesn't make sense to me that the plans can be so different. I can follow my surgeons plans but I guess I could also follow 50 other surgeons plans. What I really wish I knew was, is it better to eat three meals a day and no Snacks or is it ok to eat a damn snack..LOL!

    Would you sleeve again?

I was sleeved on August 6th. I am just over 5 weeks out. The person who said that it is best to talk to people 6 months out is probably giving you the best advice. I am really happy I did this and would do it again, but after a good six months you are more prepared to answer this question because you have been through more

    Would you sleeve again?

I had absolutely no health issues and wanted to lose about 70 pounds. Even my cardiologist commented that my health was perfect and gave me a strange look..lol ..and I would do it again in a heartbeat!
  12. If you are brought into Mexico and don't drive I think it is just as safe as anywhere else. We had no problems at all. I have driven through Detroit and had more problems than I ever had in Mexico. There is crime everywhere.. as long as you go with a driver I think it is fine. I'm home safe and sound and would do it again in a heartbeat

    Confusing post op info!!

Thank you all SO much for responding with such good information and your own experience What a great bunch of people! I am going to follow my plan. I am a regular exerciser so that will always be my ally in the fight. Hugs to you all!

    wine, cup of coffee

Thanks! I ended up finding my plan as well.. it says to wait for 6 weeks. I find it so strange how everyone's plan is so incredibly different. Who is making up these rules and why are they so contradictory? lol Anyways.. I am going to wait a bit I appreciate your help.

    Hungry 8 days post op?

I just started getting hungry at one month post op. Wouldn't it be nice to not feel hungry? It is very freeing to concentrate on all that life has to offer besides food and when the next snack is! I have found that eating small meals every few hours helps A LOT! Good luck... hunger sucks Hugs

Tell me about your 1st stall......

I don't think I am at a stall, but I don't weigh myself much to know for sure. I am about a month out and I think I have lost 20 pounds. Most people lose a bit more, but I am happy with my loss. I don't mind a stall because I want to lose the weight a bit more slowly to try to retain the integrity of my skin. I was under 200 when I had the surgery and hope to get down to 130ish.. if it takes a year then I am fine with that.. less questions to answer to all the people who are now focused on me, my eating, etc. Hope your stall passes quickly and that you feel better
  17. Didn't sound hostile to me either... not a bit... I hope you get past this long stall and keep moving towards your goal... Hugs to you!!
  18. I have a couple of sutures that are poking out from two of my incisions... they are like fishing wire..lol Will they go away? They aren't dissolving and one of them is rather long. Anyone else who went to Dr. Kelly have this? Thanks

    Sutures sticking out?

Thanks Angela My friend who came with me didn't have any sutures sticking out either.. I'm not sure why I do..lol I did clip the one last night.. the other is too close to the skin to clip, it just pokes me now and then. I will get it figured out Thanks again

I need an excuse but not a lie

    Ya.. what Dadams said..lol
  22. itscometothis

I need an excuse but not a lie

I don't think anyone should have to feel like they have to tell others. I also don't think it's lying when you want it to be personal. Some people are open and share with the world.. I respect that... for me it is private.. others should respect that as well. I hope you don't worry too much to the point that you feel forced to tell people that you are not ready to.
  23. itscometothis

I need an excuse but not a lie

I had/have the same problem as you. If you aren't going to tell certain people you are sort of in a position that makes it hard not to lie. When people ask me for dinner I say I'm not feeling well, another time. At the end of the day you don't have to tell people you aren't comfortable to, but you do have to fib a bit. It just comes with the secrecy. How about a broken toe? lol Good luck

    Kelly, Aceves or Alvarez

I went with Dr Ramos Kelly as well. If you have any questions I can answer them honestly. I just had surgery 3 weeks ago.
