    Kelly, Aceves or Alvarez

What a hatred you have for any surgeon but your own. It's so transparent. When I originally did my research I dismissed comments like yours. I found them to be slanderous and very unhelpful. You are like an unmarried marriage councilor..lol I thought you were getting off your soap box? To be honest with you, I don't even care to defend your surgeon or my own.. I could care less who someone chooses to go to, it is about your complete lack of personal experience and spewing about things you have no first hand knowledge with and it's really quite annoying. Hope your weight loss is going as well as mine.

How long do you stay full after a meal?

I am just over 8 weeks out.. for me, I had absolutely no hunger for the first month and then the hunger returned.. nothing horrible, but still noticeable. I get hungry about three hours after eating... sometimes only two hours. Like the others have said, eat the damn protein first..lol It makes a huge difference in how long you can go without eating. I don't know how people only eat three meals a day.. if I didn't have my two snacks I would be vibrating. I think because you are eating so much less that the food can only last in your little jelly bean of a stomach before it digests and then you get hungry again. I should mention that some people never feel hungry. At least that's what I have read. I loved the stage where I had no hunger. LORD it was soooo freeing! Good luck
  4. I went to Dr. Kelly in August.. I'm from up North as well The cost was 5560.00 plus airfare. There wasn't really any wait to get in.. I called them and asked for a date three weeks away and they booked me. It was simple and everything was professional. There are several choices of surgeons in Mexico and many have good reputations. I had a great experience and if you want to know more I can give you the rundown on how it all went. If you are going to go, don't take my word for it.. ask as many people as you can..
  5. I'm from Northern Ontario and I went to Mexico as well.. I wasn't going to qualify in Canada and found out about a friend who had gone to Mexico.. I researched like mad, chose a surgeon, booked it, and within three weeks I was sleeved! Best 6 grand I ever spent and at least the surgeons there have done thousands of procedures! Just food for thought If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them honestly. Take care and good luck with whatever you do!

    Kelly, Aceves or Alvarez

.. and we can all learn a thing or two from your experiences with the surgeons in question. Oh wait, you didn't go to either of them. Enough said. Let people research.. you don't need to paint Almanza and Kelly with the same brush. People who want to undergo surgery in a foreign country are perfectly capable of speaking to ACTUAL clients of those surgeons. Enough already.

    Kelly, Aceves or Alvarez

I thought hearsay was not allowed on here.. speaking of coordinators, you sound like you work for Aceves or Alvarez..

    The Dreaded Slimes

I'm two months out as well and have never had anything but a very full feeling. Haven't thrown up yet or had the slimes. Lovely little word, slimes.. lol

My Sleeve Dilemma, or is it?

I had surgery in Mexico in August. I went to Dr. Ramos Kelly. If you are going to go to Mexico make sure you do your homework and choose a surgeon who has a good reputation, not just the cheapest one. Best of luck on your journey!!

    No coffee?! No booze?

I was a coffee drinker and like my bevies so I can relate! I had surgery in early August.. I tried a coffee a couple of days ago and it doesn't sit all that well with me. I was told that it wasn't about the caffeine but something else in the coffee itself, so it didn't matter if it was decaf or regular. When I spoke to my surgeon he said it was best to wait 3 months for coffee. I find that I no longer like it.. how strange is that? As for alcohol, I was told that at 6 weeks a small glass of wine or a drink was perfectly fine. I have had a couple of glasses of wine since surgery with no issue. You are going to find that everyone has a different protocol from their surgeon so you end up needing to just make a decision based on many responses. Hope this helps
  12. ....A nutritionist who specializes in weight loss/management after VSG.. I was wondering if people who have a nutritionist could please share what the guidelines are during the first 6 months. I had surgery in Mexico so a nutritionist wasn't part of the package. I really would like to see what a professional recommends as far as carb grams, fat grams, amount of protein needed, etc. Thanks in advance
  13. You know, it's funny... since I had the surgery I notice how many people are on diets, starting diets, talking about their next diet etc.. and now I think to myself.. Good GAWD.. why bother?!! You are just going to gain the weight back, if you lose it at all, and be right back to a NEW diet. Blech! I am not being negative.. it's a FACT! Good riddance to waking up one more day on a damn diet! If we all could lose weight just be eating like a skinny version of ourselves we wouldn't want surgery. No one wants it to come to this. You owe nothing to anyone and everything to yourself
  14. ... Dear stall.. you can't see it but I am giving you the finger. Indeed, I am. Sigh!

    Dear 3 week stall..

    can't sleep??

I am seven weeks out.. I had the same thing for the first 3-4 weeks... then it just passed..
  17. itscometothis

    Sip, Sip, Sip ... forever???

Nah.. I'm 7 weeks out and I can take a big ol' drink If you take in TOO much then it just feels heavy and sort of stuck. I can eat almost anything without issue and drinking is just fine. The restriction is a dreamy thing! lol

    People who have a nutritionist...

Thank you for helping me out I always appreciate the advice and support xoxox
  19. I also had surgery in Mexico... drove from Tijuana to San Diego... had a 4 hour flight and then drove home 8 hours.. no pain whatsoever. I had to get back to Canada. I think you will feel more tired than anything.. good luck

    Self pay FL vs Mexico

I also went to Dr. Kelly and paid $5560.00. The extras were flight and some tipping to drivers.. oh, and some spending money.

    cereal???

I eat cereal every few days. If you find one that has good nutritional value and eat it with low fat milk you will get some protein from the milk. Hope this helps.

    Dr. Alvarez reviews

You will find a lot of info on Alvarez on youtube On this site you may only find reviews of Dr. Kelly, Dr. Aceves and Dr. Almanza. Before I had my surgery done that was about all I could find on here. Youtube is helpful for Alvarez. I went to Dr. Kelly in August. If you want any info you can message me and I will be of some help if you'd like. Good luck.. and all I can say is, research, research, RESEARCH.
  23. I had Kelly.. my bmi was 33 when I scheduled surgery and I was told that I only had to follow a plan three days prior to surgery. I don't see why you would need to be on a preop for two weeks. I contacted Dr. Aceves when I was researching surgeons and I was told I didn't need to do any preop at all due to a lower bmi. I ended up going to Kelly, but the point is, with a lower bmi the preop wasn't really required. Maybe look into it

SURGERY ON 09/02-I HAVE NO PROBLEMS?

I had surgery with Dr. Kelly as well and have no problems getting fluids or food in. I had bad nausea and dry heaves for about 12 hours, yes TWELVE LONG hours, after surgery..lol But since I then I have been a text book case of easy street.
