  1. I had surgery august 2007. i have lost 70 pounds with the band and a lot of exercise. :blushing:

6 months after surgery, i noticed that my back hurt every afternoon. i put up with it for a year then started working on fixing it in 2009.

after much ado, they think it is the LAP-BAND® surgery that caused scarring that goes directly to the T-4 thru 6.

has anyone else had this issue? any suggestions or solutions?

Have your doctor check your gall bladder.. I too have been putting up with back pain for about a year.. finally had enough when I could no longer turn over in bed without screaming out in pain. (Mostly affects me when I am lying down, or hit a speed bump) They did an ultrasound and found I have lots of gall stones.. I am scheduled for surgery to remove my gall bladder.. After having any type of weight reduction surgery, or just plain losing weight, your chances of having issues with your gall bladder goes waaay up... Most of the time, the pain in in the shoulder blade area, mine tricked them, mine is by my kidney area...

  2. I have a question. Does drinking coffee make any of your bands tightened up?

My doctor really doesnt want us drinking coffee, because it increases your appetite. In my case, it fills me right up and I am not hungry at all for hours after one cup. Also my band feels real tight after.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Im not a big coffee drinker but have found since I feel so full that I am going to continue drinking it.

  3. I tell people the truth. I had weight loss surgery. Simple as that. I like to be straight up with people and have found that most, if not all, people have been very supportive. It gives me a chance to tell them about the LAP-BAND®® and my new lifestyle. I'm happy with the decison I've made to have my LAP-BAND®® and I'm not a bit ashamed of taking back control of MY life! Life is too short to worry about what others think. If they are negative...then to he** with them!

Seriously, what kind of person would fault you for wanting to lead a long, healthy, and productive life? Remember...misery loves company! :w00t:

I also have told people the truth.. Nothing but positive attitudes.. By my telling the truth, 4 other people from my work are now on their way to being healthier by having this done, They just needed a jump start and I was the one to give that to them. I do get the occasional food POLICE, but I just call them that, and they back off...lol :wink2:

  4. I had one instantly after my second fill. As soon as they let me up off the table, it started feeling better. By the time I walked out to my car, it was gone. The PA that gave it to me said that sometimes it happens and should go away very quickly.

Well good .. At least I am not nuts.. Mine didnt happen until 4 days later... I had to take pain meds it hurt so bad, and the only time i have had to take pain meds is with this shoulder pain, both times...

  5. Hi Bill, I too had my band placed on 8/27. I use low or fat free cream Soups, egg drop Soup, yogurt, Protein shakes. costco has these Protein drinks that have 30 gm of protein in them and they are really yummy if you like chocolate. On the 13th of sept. I will start my soft solids. I have pureed veg. soup and just added a bit more Water so it isn't to thick. good luck, Cyndie

What is the name of the Protein Drink that COSCO has.. THanks

  6. Congrats! I was justed banded on 9-3-09. I am feeling better now. How long are you swollen for? Also, when does the gas pain go away?

Hi ... I was banded on 8/27/09, and the gas pain didnt hit until 8/31/09. Today (09/05/09) was the first day I didnt have any pain from my shoulder. My doctor said that if you eat too fast, then that also will give you the gas pain in your shoulder. I have lost 25 pounds since surgery...

  7. I have Aettna Insurance and it does cover the Lapband Surgery. I have done my 6 months at my doctors, had the phych eval, saw the nutrionist, and had all the bllod work done for this precedure. The problem is with my Primary Care physician. Seems the notes she has faxed over to the Surgeon are very sketchy.. Like "was seen here for weight check. Going to have lapband surgery" This was just the appt I had 2 weeks ago.. Some of the notes are ok, but a couple of months are very empty. The surgeons nurse told me this will get denied because of this. I dont know what to do. I have followed everything to the T and made sure my end was fulfilled and now I get hit with this. Has anyone else had this issue and how did you deal with it to get it taken care of. i was so looking forward to this being done next month and now it doesnt look like its going to happen. I am just so frustrated and down about this.
